Networking :: Iwl4965 Stops Talking Without Disconnect From D-Link Router
May 12, 2010
I have laptops with intel 4965/AGN wireless hardware and ubuntu jaunty. My wireless access point, router, gateway is a D-Link DIR-655. The D-Link is directly connected to my cable modem. The connection does not drop, but They suddenly quit talking with each other. After a brief time lapse, they start talking again without intervention on my part. When I say "stop talking" this is behavior where a browser will return "page or server not found" errors or "DNS timeout". Has anyone seen this sort of network behavior and have some idea about corrective actions?
My attempts to get some help from D-Link have not been successful. Since there are not hundreds of folks reporting troubles, they don't [want to?] understand one poor souls problems.I've tried to ask about this several times and several places.
Mm sorry for the silly questions but I dont seem to be able to get my server to listen to my router or the other way around. when i httpd i get the error (99)Cannot assign requested address: make_sock: could not bind to address 192.168.1.1:8080I am using a Billion 5200G router I have also been trying all night with my BELKIN router but no success.
1) I have a nameserver I set up at Enom days ago the site has been registered for about 9 months now ns1.startwebhostingnow.com
2) When I try to access ns1.startwebhostingnow.com I get through to my routers administartion area so the nameserver seems to direct to the right place.
3) I have a PPoE LLC connection from my ISP with one static IP but like i said the nameserver seems to direct to my router but no further.
4) I have set up the server in the System/Administration/server settings/http area servername ns1.startweb hostingnow.com with an ip of 192.168.1.1 on port 8080
5) In the NAT router area I have DMZ set as 192.168.1.53 which should be my servers ip address
6) In the NAT Virtual Server I have: RuleApplicationProtocolStart PortEnd Port Local IP Address1 HTTP_Server TCP 8080 8080 192.168.1.53
the router is TP-Link TL-WR340G. When I got it I entered the menu and configured everything without problems. Some time ago I had to reinstall ubuntu and after that I couldn't access the router. I tried to reset it, i tried switching the wifi on and off. I connect the router and the pc with the network cable, i type 192.168.1.1 in firefox and it says: can't access site. I plug the internet cable in the modem - its the same and I dont have internet at all.
1. Using XP Pro SP3 (32-bit) 2. Laptop = Sony VAIO VGN-FZ140E 3. Recently purchased a TP-Link Router (TL-WR740N) which claims to give 150 Mbps speed
When connected, my Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN shows a speed of only 65 Mbps . A friend came over with his laptop (having Windows 7) and was able to get 150 Mbps speed. I even compared and the same web sites were opening with considerable difference on our laptops. Do I need to upgrade the driver?
I need to connect to my router using only CLI, specifying an username and password, preferably with a single command line, so it won't be interactive, 'cause I need to include the command in a script.
router DIR 100 4 ports adsl connected to WAN Linux connected to port 1 Mac connected to a port 2
I am trying to figure why linux hostname is not detected in my LAN. The strange thing is that my macs hostname is automatically detected and put in DHCP CLIENT LIST! I have scrolled the whole manual 10 times.
My Linux (Slackware 13) gets IP address automatically by DHCP server in router. Has anyone had this problem with routers in general?
I'm running a Source Dedicated Server on my Ubuntu laptop, and to connect to it via external IP from other computers in the network I need to enable loopback in my router. This was working fine, but then I disconnected my laptop for a few days, and when I came back the wireless stopped working on my Xbox. I reset the router to factory defaults, and then setup everything again. It was all working fine until I enabled loopback again and power cycled my router. Now every time I do that, the internet on Ubuntu stops working and the wireless on the Xbox stops working.
Edit: You can ignore this I guess. It seems I was actually DISABLING loopback by enabling that router option, which I guess caused this. Strange, because the first time enabling this option was the only way to get my external ip to work. Oh well, everything is fine now.
I use a wired Dlink Adsl Router GLB502T with its inbuilt dialer configured. Problem is it will not connect while computer is running. When I try to ping the local ip of the modem this is what I get "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted" and "/etc/init.d/networking restart" has no effect either.I need to restart my computer every time i want to connect to the Internet.I switch on the modem when the grub bootloader appears and the modem connects without any problem. This problem appeared when i installed Ubuntu 9.04.There was no problem with Ubuntu 8.04.
OS:Ubuntu 9.04 Motherboard: Asus M2N68-AM NVIDIA Geforce 7025/nForce 630a RTL8211CL Phy Gigabit LAN
1) it cannot see any networks around 2) i cannot setup it in master mode to use my PC as a router
As far as i can see, the device is recognized and the correct driver (rt73usb) is loaded. I was able to connect to a laptop somehow (the laptop could see other networks and the adapter's PC-to-PC network). I'd like to make it work as a router, i.e. share my internet connection (eth0) via wlan0. Here is what i have:
Code: Ubuntu 10.04 Linux 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 3 19:31:57 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux TP-Link TL-WN321G wifi usb adapter as seen as Bus 001 Device 006: ID 148f:2573 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2501USB Wireless Adapter $ iwconfig wlan0 wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:off/any [Code]....
Ive recently switched over to AT&T Uverse TV/Internet service and I've noticed that when I ssh into my linux( 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5xen CentOS) server I get disconnected. When I'm using putty it gives the "network error software caused connection abort" error. When I'm at work using one of our jump servers and ssh'ing from the command line it will freeze up from time to time but never disconnects. I think the problem is either with the OS or the new AT&T modem. At first I had my CentOS server using DHCP and it would disconnect within a few minutes after I ssh'ed. I switched over to a static IP and now it goes about 10 minutes before it disconnects. It doesnt matter if I'm actively typing or not, so it's not an inactivity issue. I have the firewall turned off on my laptop, and since the issue happens on multiple devices, including my iphone I dont think thats the issue.
I have iptables and selinux turned off/disabled so thats not it. In putty I have enabled Keep Alive(30 seconds) and it still disconnects. I opened the port on the modem to allow ssh for the IP of the linux server. Ive also recently reinstalled this server with CentOS so I can't compare with the previous internet provider as I didn't reinstall until after I switched over. BUT previous installs with CentOS 5.2 worked fine with the previous ISP. AT&T Modem is a 2wire 3800HGV-B
I have a telephone connection of 1 mega internet modem huawei mt 880 SmartAX my desktop computer is connected via an ADSL PPPoE.I use Ubuntu 10.04 in Spanish and want to know how to connect a WiFi router TP-LINK TL- wr942nd to provide wireless Internet to other 2 PC, a desktop with a plaquet wireles G CNet CWP-854 and 500 series notebook olivetti olibook. The issue is that when I connect the router I can not even go online and do not know how to operate the network, I can not even connect the desktop to my internet provider
In addition to 2 "desktop" machines, I recently set up an Ubuntu Server with Apache2, but when I try to access my www.homepage from a machine locally connected to the same router (via both wired & wireless interfaces), I am directed to the Login page of the router, not to the www.homepage. Yet, when I access the www.homepage from elsewhere, my www.homepage is accessible.
I can browse to my www.homepage by entering the local IP address into browsers on both local machines, so I know the machines are talking to each other. Just not letting me get in via normal internet browsing channels.
Server: Ubuntu 11.04 Webserver: Apache2 Router: D-Link DIR-615 IP Address of: 192.168.0.110 (reserved on router, static on server)
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy x64 and when pressing "Play" in TORK, I get the following Message:
*TOR Stopped Talking To Us!!*Message: Did Something Happen To Me?
*This Means: Try Starting TORK Again. TOR Starts up in the background. and I have also tried killing TOR and then restarting it with Vidalia and verifying that TOR is running. I've also tried using the Wizard to configure TORK to no avail. It also does'nt seem to be able to write to the "torrc" file. Also, when I select Tools>Browse TOR Network Status, I get the following message:
*Could not launch the browser:*Could not find service "kfmclient." I suppose this could mean that I need to install some elements of KDE, but I have several KDE applications running on my installation, such as Amarok, with no complications.
I have installed MM 10.10 on a desktop (also running XP home) and a laptop (vista home prem). Both have good access wirelessly to www using an orange livebox, via linux and windows. But I can't get them to talk to each other for file sharing etc. I'm pretty sure there's a simple solution but, as a novice to linux, it's beyond me at the moment.
I installed firefox 3.6 from the firefox-stable ppa repository and I noticed that the location bar autocomplete stops working after opening an external link (e.g. clicking a link in evolution or empathy). The problem still occurs when starting firefox in safemode, so it doesn't appear to be related to a misbehaving extension. The problem is only fixed with a browser restart or when I open and then close 'show all history'.
Using openSuSE 11.4 D-Link DWL-520+ won't connect to my router. The computer recognises the wireless card is there and working but I can't get it to connect to the router. Not sure how to get it to connect.
I'm using D-Link GLB-802C router to connect to internet, It has one Ethernet port and USB port. I want to connect to internet in ubuntu using USB port. My PC is P4 machine and it isn't a Ethernet interface. My router's driver CD includes usb drivers to windows 98, xp OS only. I want step by step guide to setup the internet connection in ubuntu. I'm from sri lanka and i using SLT ADSL connection.
I have a problem where I'm using Ubuntu linux to mount a Windows Vista machine's USB drive and access it on the web using Apache. I did have the USB drive plugged into the Linux machine directly and that was working via the web. FollowSymLinks is on in httpd.conf
[Code]....
The mount works and I can see the files (see above) from my regular linux user account. If I make a test file in /mnt and soft link to that, I can see it on the web. So it's just the mount to the vista machine that seems to be a problem. It's supposed to be a simple read-only mount and the apache login should (I think) be able to see the same generic root access permissions.
log from apache: [Mon Apr 26 20:39:42 2010] [error] [client 99.99.99.99] Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible: /home/user1/pub_html/Music, referer: https://xx.xx.xx/~user1/music.html
The credentials have a login and password that matches a special read-only account on Vista. I can see the files on the system from Linux, but not via the web. As mentioned above, a different link to the same /mnt area works fine via the web. I've tried several different mount options with no success.
i have a problem with my new router and ubuntu 10.10. The problem is that my internet connection show me that my laptop had connect to internet but my browser can't open a website ( this problem is the same with my netbook ) to fix it always must turn it off and after on either it never makes.
The combination "~." disconnects SSH session. But if I enter "~" twice, I won't be able to use this combo again to disconnect. Can I get this combo to work again within one SSH session if I typed in the "~" twice?
Periodically, about 3 to 5 hours, Ubuntu disconnects from my wi-fi network and doesn't reconnect until I restart the router. This is an Ubuntu specific issue, since it doesn't happen when I boot into my Windows partition, and it doesn't happen to other computers on the network.
I am checking something out in my connection and i just wanted to ask, is there a way to auto-disconnect and connect from the internet, for example say I want to disconnect now and reconnect to the internet in 0.05 seconds, is there any program that does that?
use kubuntu 9.10 64-bit on AMD Turion M500 machine. The network keeps disconnecting periodically or on some heavy activity The connection is totally stable on windows 7 though. My doubts point to network manager and so my next step is to switch to command line wpa_supplicant
I use network-manager-pptp to connect to my VPN server. However, occasionally my VPN drops out (although my Internet stays up). I was just wondering how I could make the VPN drop-out trigger a bash script, for example playing a sound to alert me that the VPN has dropped?
I tough that firefox was the problem of my very slow web sites loading, but I am suspecting that sometimes the internet connection is the reason, maybe for some reason that I don't know it can not just connect to the site.I am running Linux quick-desktop 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 28 13:28:05 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux.when I browse the web it is very slow to load.sometimes I get this error message.Could not locate remote server.Even I know the site is up running like google.
A month ago I had (and still have) a weird problem were leaving my switched off computer plugged into the network killed the whole network.

well I have found a fix, if I disconnect my computer via software (Right click and disconnect "eth1" and shut down the network will remain up. I want to make a script that runs on shutdown that simply disconnects "eth1". Are there any pre-made shutdown scripts in ubuntu that I can simply add "eth1 enabled = 0" or something.
I've simple PPTP connection in NetworkManager that is build in with ubuntu, once I disconnect the connection [to change IP or so] the connection won't establish again...
I'm getting a libnotify popup that says "Connection failed because timeout"
I'm getting a good IP, I just can't connect again after 1 disconnect... Any idea why?
i installed linux at home on my laptop (dv2000, hp). Because i was having problems connecting to the internet through wireless. And wired at friends houses. So installed linux. Wireless took me a while but finally got that working. Now the problem i have is that wired is not working apart from at home. Any other router apart from mine it cannot connect to.
