I want to block yahoo, skype IM program with a schedule.Just unblock from 10AM - 2PM and 3PM - 5PM everyday.I tried block from router, but it's not block completely and haven't schedule function.I found that a firewall (Iptables and ISA) can do that. Have anything else can? Can anyone give me some advises
View 3 Repliesi had googled a lot n come to know that i need to block dnslookups for these urls httpcs.msg.yahoo.com and webcs.msg.yahoo.com and these should return 127.0.0.1. i havent have DNS configured so tried by making an entry in etc hosts filebut unforunately it didnt worked
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have recently had a house mate move in and he is using my wireless network, even though i asked him not to give out the network key to his friends either he has or they have hacked my network and are using it when they come over, is there a program i can use to monitor the number of computers that are connected to my network and block them, or is there a way i can just wee what is going on. They seem to just connect and i don't want to have to change the password particularly because that involves changing it on multiple devices.

Now I am trying to find the best program to use to chat and view webcams on yahoo I used gyache at first but got sick of it gliching and booting me telling me people were online when they were not. So I tried Kopete and like it but cant get the webcam to work every thing works just fine I cant send invites and cant receive images. At first I was getting an error message telling me to go to a nonexistent site for help. Now it just tells me No "webcam image received" and just strait up does not send invites. I am trying to get this to work or be directed to a better program that meets my needs and how to set it up.

I have 5 computers, 3 of them have windows XP Pro, 1 has Ubuntu 10.04, and the other has Windows 7 Ult.On all the machines except the windows 7 machine whenever I attempt to go to yahoo.com it says "waiting for l.yimg.com" and after awhile will load without any CSS at all. When the same machines (all except for the Windows 7 one) attempt to go to Hulu.com it can connect to the website just fine, but whenever it attempt to play a video, the ad will not play, and hulu is designed to not play the video if the ad does not play. I do not have any ad blocking addons installed at all. This occurs on both chrome and firefox. And lastly the oddest problem out of them all I think is that on the same machines I can play ..... videos fine, but if i log into an account, it will not play the video.... it just shows a "spinning wheel of death."
I can also ping www.yimg.com with no package loss.On all of the machines I have reinstalled the browser and updated to the newest flash player. On one of the windows XP machines I even tried a system restore too 2 months ago, but that did not work.This all started 2 days ago, all at the same time. I would say that it is my ISP's fault or my routers, but that wouldn't make sense since my Windows 7 machine can connect fine to all the websites.
In ubuntu 9.04 version i am unable to use yahoo messenger and gtalk.i tried to install .exe file via wine.its installed successfully but after login its saying invalid login or password please retry(i've no doubt about my login id and password because simultaniously im using windows xp and it was working ).Same thing is happining for gtalk also.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just fixed my old-ish laptop (pop accident) and instead of putting window on it my dad talked me into trying ubuntu out, gotta say love it, fast and everything but having major problems. i have a lenovo 3000 v200. everything is the same as out of the box except the keyboard, only thing i really needed to replace.
ok problems
1) wireless is not working: i have the switch on (side of the laptop) and bluetooth lights up but wireless doesnt. (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG). now i just learned about 'rfkill list' it shows that there is a soft block on the wireless. tried " rfkill unblock 0" nothing happened. also when i tried finding out wat kernel im using " uname-r" to find out more on why its not unblocking, the CLI says "comand isnt found" next two problems are small but are still frustrating
2) built in camera: the green light is on next to the lens but when trying to test the camera on skype or a photo program the video feed/ picture is black, or blank. not sure what i can do to fix that.
3) fingerprint scanner: yes i have one, i know its not efficient but I still like using it to login in instead of typing. im not sure how to get linux/ubuntu to recognize it if it even is. not sure how to set it up if it is recognized.
i would like to fix the wireless more than anything, if i can fix the camera and scanner then yeay, otherwise i can survive. oh and note i did try using the "additional drivers" app. nothing popped up.

I setup squid on the same box and configured browser to use that proxy. All is well, i can browse and login both normal and secured sites (ie yahoo mail)

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone.When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I cant seem to text via skype, it doesnt go through. I testet the skype test call service and voice works fine, audio and mic. I have tried to google and search forums but no luck. I have before used skype on my netbook with my cellphone as a hot spot and it worked without problem but it doesnt have the same provider - different sim cards in phone and dongle.
