I'm trying to connect to my Apple computer using SSL/SSH VNC Viewer, but don't know what to put in the VNC Hostisplay space and VNC Password or the Proxy/Gateway spaces. Where can I get all this info from?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are using several printers on our Linux RH network to print customer invoices and receipts. Receipts are short forms of just 21 or 22 lines. Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings.

we hav one of our client want access our company computer from outside network and all our computers are under proxy server therefore all computers have limited access so one of the limited access computer, client has to access from outside. so we want this computer should remain under proxy server as well as accessible from outside network

i also tried from the /etc/resolv.conf. by editing the resolv.conf & after restarting the netowork the resolv.conf remove the chages & it become as like previous. actually there is some problems with the starting services form the panel->system->administration->serversettings->services some of the services are stopped can anybody tell me which are that services for system-config-network
Neither Ubuntu's Unity or KDE respond to the function keys on a regular Apple USB keyboard. I can plug in a non-Apple keyboard and they work just fine. What needs to be changed or configure so that F1 and company on the Apple keyboard work as on other keyboards?

When I log out I can log back in by typing in my password. However, when I restart the computer it seems that bluetooth is not loaded yet and I cannot enter my password. So I have to log in using my wired keyboard, and then disconnect & re-connect to my wireless keyboard using blueman before I am able to use the wireless keyboard.
Is there any way that I can already auto-load bluetooth and connect to my keyboard before I log in?

I scanned my apple comp. with nessus and found some open ports (445 "guest login", 139 smb service detection, 631, 137, 123, 88) can I use any of these ports to connect to the apple from my ubuntu 10.04? If yes, can you tell me how plz? I tried $telnet [ip adress] [open port]
like this: $ telnet [ip address] 445 since it is a guest login and i get the message that i'm connected but anything i type does absolutely nothing i. For example i type ifconfig and press enter and nothing happens it just goes to the next line. What am I doing wrong? Is there another way to connect so I can actually look at my files in that computer and print on that printer?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect to an apple computer wirelessly to get access to the internet.. If no encryption is used on the network (gateway?) set up by the apple computer I can connect just fine and browse the internet.
-If a WEP encryption is introduced I cannot seem to connect... even though the WEP keys are identical.
-I have tried both WEP 128 passphrase and WEP 40/128 key... -Have tried the WEP passphrase being both just numbers in case that mattered.
I have a pdf form that came from open office conversion to pdf. It has some information filled out in it already and I don't want to lose that by doing anything that overwrites it or loses something in a conversion, etc. Also, it is two pages so I can't print it out, fill it in and then scan it because I would end up with two files instead of just one then.

I use the update manager to install all available updates and then the application is blank! Doesn't say "new version available" or anything like that. What do I do? Am i stuck buying an external hard drive and installing the new one like new?

I was running Ubuntu server 10.10 up until Tuesday Night. I decided to go to Ubuntu Server 10.04 in favor of the long term support of it.
While running Ubuntu server 10.10 all my forms worked and would send the form data to my email without issue.
Now after transfer the site to Ubuntu 10.04 I'm not getting any of the email messages. I have verified my email works by sending a test email directly to the account.
I want to perform an upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to Ubuntu 11.04 without reinstalling Ubuntu. How can I do this?

I get the same result if I click "no" or "yes" the boot finishes and every thing seems to work....except the drop-down menus are missing on the panel on the right. So every thing on the left is there I.E. im connected to my router but i cant get to Fire Fox right or left clicking on the panel wont let me at to the panel so how do i get my panel back?Oh and the bottom panel is gone too. not really sure this is an upgrade problem but the timing was suspicious.
I donwload the Ubuntu 10.04 *32bits ISO image, and i burned each image with diferent speeds. Then, i tried to install, appears the Language Selection screen, all good. then, the Localization screen, I select Colombia (I'm from Colombia), clic on forward and the mouse shows the "loading animation", but the PC doesn't do anything (I let it for 30 minutes). I tried with the 2 CD, but ever the same result. And in some times when I try to out and reboot appears an error, so I have to reboot manually (with a button ).
And other problem, is that my BIOS doesn't let me boot form USB, so I can't install form USB. The last opportunity, and tried to install it, upgrading from Ubuntu 9.10, but in the instalation it gave me some errors, and in the 80% (or something like that), appears a window asking me to install GRUB AND EVERYTHING FREEZES, so I had to rebbot manually, and reinstall Ubuntu 9.10.
