View 9 RepliesAll the upgrade notes on ubuntu.com told me I must have 10.04 to upgrade to either 10.10 Desktop or 10.10 Netbook. Does this only apply to the desktop version? I use the update manager to install all available updates and then the application is blank! Doesn't say "new version available" or anything like that. What do I do? Am i stuck buying an external hard drive and installing the new one like new?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are using several printers on our Linux RH network to print customer invoices and receipts. Receipts are short forms of just 21 or 22 lines. Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings.

I upgraded to 10.4 on Friday and everything seemed to go flawlessly. I had installed Netbook launcher about a month ago and decided I didn't like it, so yesterday I uninstantiated it. Now when I boot up using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx I get this error
The panel encountered a problem while loading
"OAFIID:gnome_gohome"
do you want to delete your configuration
I get the same result if I click "no" or "yes" the boot finishes and every thing seems to work....except the drop-down menus are missing on the panel on the right. So every thing on the left is there I.E. im connected to my router but i cant get to Fire Fox right or left clicking on the panel wont let me at to the panel so how do i get my panel back?Oh and the bottom panel is gone too. not really sure this is an upgrade problem but the timing was suspicious.
I donwload the Ubuntu 10.04 *32bits ISO image, and i burned each image with diferent speeds. Then, i tried to install, appears the Language Selection screen, all good. then, the Localization screen, I select Colombia (I'm from Colombia), clic on forward and the mouse shows the "loading animation", but the PC doesn't do anything (I let it for 30 minutes). I tried with the 2 CD, but ever the same result. And in some times when I try to out and reboot appears an error, so I have to reboot manually (with a button ).
And other problem, is that my BIOS doesn't let me boot form USB, so I can't install form USB. The last opportunity, and tried to install it, upgrading from Ubuntu 9.10, but in the instalation it gave me some errors, and in the 80% (or something like that), appears a window asking me to install GRUB AND EVERYTHING FREEZES, so I had to rebbot manually, and reinstall Ubuntu 9.10.
I'm having a weird problem while uploading a file using a standard html form in Firefox 3.6.8(No extensions, except for the preloaded ones : Ubuntu Firefox modifications 0.9Rc2, mouse gesture redox 3.0.2 ). Anytime I try to upload a file whether on my localhost or at a website that offers a form with an input file, it fails. I'm just using test files, like small images. I've reinstalled my firefox, because I got this problem since 9.10 and now that I've upgraded to Lucid Lynx, I still have this issue. That's why I decided to do a fresh re-install using the same package I've downloaded previously when I did the ugprade. However, I still have the same result, the file never uploads to the server.
This happens when I use a simple html form with enctype="multipart/form-data". Though, when I use any other browser, like chrome, chromium, opera they just work fine. At my localhost, this is my code in one page, if you want to take a look, but as I say even with other websites the problem is happening too. Btw, the temp folders have written permissions (777)
PHP Code:
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors','On');
$currentDir = dirname(__FILE__);

I have downloaded Fedora-15-x86_64-DVD.iso and try to install as usual:copy the isolinux directory from the image and boot with grubīŧbut the installer doesn't let me select the media and connects and downloads from network directory. After waiting a long time,it reports the network not available, and ask me to select repo from NFS, DVD or http/ftp, still no local hard driver. Is this a new feature of F15?
View 5 Replies View Relatedwithout realising I started thunderbird from a root window, I set it up along with rules and about 2 hours finetuning.
I figured out how to get the icon on the top panel, but that is naturally started as my user gsm.
Is there an easy way of migrating the whole mailbox and subfolders form the root install to the gsm user?
Or is it easier to start from scratch?
I keep getting the following msg as I try to upgrade from 10.04 -> 10.10 ... "Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. This can be caused by:

While upgrading to a newer version of Ubuntu I noticed a warning saying that the installation/upgrade should not be interupted. Unfortunately though, during this process my computer froze up and I had to shut it down. Ubuntu no longer starts on my computer. I still have Windows though, which is what I'm using now.
