I have 2 routers in my network, R1 and R2. R1 is doing BGP with ISP1 and R2 is doing BGP with ISP2. both R1 and R2 are advertising the exact same a.b.c.d/20 network to their neighbor on BGP.
This setup is working perfectly fine, people can enter reach machines and services inside our network regardless of what route they come in through.
The problem i have now is that R1 is now catering for a specific VLAN. now if a packet is destined for a machine on that VLAN but comes in through R2, then R2 does not know what to do with that packet since it is not connected to the VLAN.
This could probably be fixed by adding static routes, but I want this to happen dynamically so in the future, when introducing more vlans the routing table is updated automatically.
Could this be fixed with iBGP or OSPF somehow? I am using Quagga routing software

I added --> #echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward to forward packet on centos

Where can I get autoten the older version? The one that had frostwire in it? Because I like the older version of frostwire and I can't find it on google. So I want an older version of autoten that had frostwire in it. Because the new autoten does not have frostwire installed.

I'm a very -slightly- advanced Samba user. I believe I know the basics of editing the smb.conf and I know to use smbpasswd to update the Samba users database.I have a group of identical shares.They are readOnly for the group @movies-play and they are (supposed to be) writeable by specific users. The readOnly group works great, no prob there, but I cannot get write access for the specified users. They are in the Samba user database using smbpasswd -a mark and neelix.Here is the share section in my smb.conf...
Code:
[movies-usb3]
path = /media/usb3/movies
guest ok = no[code]....
I have the workgroup and netbios info set. I have security=user set. The folder 'movies' in the path above is owned by 'mark' so it seems I should be able to write in it but I can't.I'm connecting to the share (it's on a server running Lucid) from my laptop (running Lucid. I added this mount info to fstab...
Code:
//spock/movies-usb3 /media/spockmovies3 cifs credentials=/home/mark/.smbpasswd 0 0
Of course spock in the hosts file so it resolves. I can see the share fine, just can't write.

Source: openSUSE News KDE in openSUSE 11.1 and Beyond KDE 3.5 will not be included on 11.2 official media or in the release repository for 11.2, but the community certainly has the option of creating KDE 3.5 packages in the build service, and creating live CDs with KDE 3.5 packages for 11.2. What's everyone's views on this? I personally think that 3.5.x should stay till 12.x.

what directories/files should be backed up? What are you using for this job?Basic backup: /home, /etc maybe /root and /boot and often you want to backup some parts of /var such as /var/log. I can use cp and scp for simplest backup. tar, cpio for tape etc... I can use dump and restore for whole file system backup. rsync for incremental backup.

I've copied a number of deb files from my ubuntu Natty dvd to /home/bob/Natty-DVD/pool. And I ran:
sudo dpkg-scanpackages . /dev/null | gzip -c9 > Packages.gz
Which created the nesc. Packages.gz file. Then I edited my /etc/apt/sources.list and added the line:
deb file:///home/bob/Natty-DVD ./
and did a sudo apt-get update
But, the list of repos doesn't include my /home/bob/Natty-DVD. This is on a fresh install of natty.

I'm using USB 3G modem and it has SD card reader embedded.
I am also using USB hard drive as boot device. It is a Netgear WNDR 3700 router.
I am posting it in here because it is a general question, not really associated with embedded installations.
When loading the system from power up my HDD get's /dev/sda assigned and my modem SD card reader: /dev/sdb [although there's no SD card inserted].
But when booting after restart hard drive is sdb and modem is sda. Thanks to that I get kernel panic and all is over. I have to manually reboot.
I cannot use initrdfs so I can't use UUID/LABEL to identify the device.
Is there any way I could stop this SD card reader from loading?
I believe it uses usb mass storage driver, just as my hdd.
This is from the boot log Code...

I am working on a Centos v5.2 platform that does not have Yum installed. I am trying to install it via this method:
$ wget [URL
$ tar -zxvf yum-3.2.28.tar.gz
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install
Sounds simple right? The "configure" script isn't included in the Yum archive.

I have found some stable releases of packages I use which are included in Debian stable to be outdated.For example: I use Kdevelop. I absolutely love it. Checking Kdevelop.org says that latest stable release is 4.2.3.However on my system, the latest stable package found is 4.0.1 In my sources list I've selected to use only stable packages:
deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main
deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
BTW, I assume this is how I only get stable packages ? Why is it that although there are newer stable releases of Kdevelop, the latest (stable) found on Debian is 4.0.1 ? Is there something I can do in order to include those newer stable releases, other than downloading the source from the wesbite and building/installing ? I really like the way Debian handles it's packages, and I understand that Debian has it's own ways of doing things.

Doing this: mplayer dvd://1 -v -dumpstream -dumpfile dump.vob Gives me all the audio tracks, but not the subtitles. How can I go about getting the subtitles to be included in the file dump.vob? I've tried something like: mplayer dvd://1 -v -sid 5 -dumpstream -dumpfile dump.vob (where -sid 5 was the correct subtitle) but this does not work. I'm going to use mencoder to make an .avi file (with subtiutles, obviously), so I could, as a last resort, use some other program that extracts the subtitles (suggestions?).

I am having some troubles installing tomcat on a fresh copy of 11.2. I began by following the instructions that I found here: Tomcat HOWTO - openSUSE and proceeded to install the requisite packages through YaST, except I chose to install tomcat6 and java 1.6, presuming that they would work equally well to the older versions indicated in the guide. My stumbling block came when the guide went on to tell me to download and compile an alternative mod_jk to the one included (even though I hadn't come across one, so I didn't have to uninstall one like the guide suggested.) The link provided in the guide was dead so I found an alternative link through google, and set up the directory structure as suggested. The next step tells me that I must run this command:
[code]...
I have tried to create an apxs2 directory in sbin, which isn't allowed. I have also tried running the command without the apxs2 on the end, also to no avail.

I have just entered the world of openSUSE after a chain of other linux distros over the last few years. Btw I love it, its already my favourite. It is useless for most people who are behind a router, because any transfers between same-network computers are subject to the same rules = slow and unnecessary.I used #256461 - wondershaper: Option to limit range of rules? - Debian Bug report logs for these mods.
Suggested /usr/sbin/wshaper.htb
Code:
#!/bin/bash
#
# Wonder Shaper
# please read the README before filling out these values
[code]....
Should this be filed as a bug report? It seems like an obvious feature to me.

I am using Claws Mail version 3.7.3 on Ubuntu 9.10. In the last few days, replies that I receive often have the original (quoted) text replaced with an ellipsis [ ... ]. For example, I see: Where the ellipsis is a hyperlink (?), that when double-clicked displays the remainder of the message, as Claws had normally been doing: If I forward the message, everything is included / shown, as expected. It's very annoying to have this program suddenly start behaving this way: When I receive / read a reply, I want to see the entire message ('thread') displayed, not this [... ] ellipsis (hidden original message(s)).

Generally on my system(Karmic x64), if I generate a pdf, any image included comes out distinctly blurry. I have googled and come across this [URL] which says when there is a pdf generation, everything is recompressed, hence the blurriness. How is there a way around this? What do I tweak to ensure pictures are left alone (I already ensure they are as small as possible) when I convert anything to pdf?

I noticed that when I click on help about in k3b is says 1.91.0. Why is release candidate version included with a LTS version of Kubuntu? On K3b's website, it points to this:[URL].. I've reported this and another problem to kde.org and launchpad. This is kinda sad that I can't even continue multisession DVD-Rs that were created with a previous version of k3b.
I'm trying to continue burning a multession DVD-R that was created with a previous version of k3b. I'm using kubuntu 10.04. K3b prompts me to insert a suitable medium into the drive but it says it has found medium appendable dvd-r medium.

I just bought a SATA to USB converter so I can use my 1TB HDD as an external USB driver. I made all connections while my box was shut down. After booting, I could not notice my HDD included in the Storage Drives list in "Computer". My HDD is a new one, which I am not sure whether it is formatted or not (if this is the problem.) What should I do next to start using my HDD through the USB converter.
