CentOS 5 :: Update With Yum Reducing Testing To Included Packages Only?
Apr 3, 2010I have Centos 5. I enabled the EL repos so I could upgrade the php to the latest, and now there are upgrades that yum is not letting me get. I have a Virtualmin VPN plugin that needs Virtualmin to be updated to 5.10, but it seems when I updated PHP with the EL repos Yum is now reducing my available packages. Here are some outputs. with some things removed for length.

Fedora Installation :: Preupgrade Leftover Packages - 176 F13 Packages Remaining
Nov 17, 2010I recently upgraded from F13 to F14 using "preupgrade". This is the first time I've used preupgrade. So far, F14 is running OK. There are some leftovers from F13 and I'm wondering if this is correct.
Q1: There are 176 F13 packages remaining. [alfrugal@localhost Documents]$ rpm -qa | grep fc13 | wc -l 176 Is this OK? FWIW, after the upgrade, I ran "package-cleanup --orphans" as recommended by the "preupgrade" page on the Fedora Project wiki.
Q2: Also, my GRUB menu was correctly updated for F14, but it still contains the three entries it had for F13. Is it normal for the preupgrade process to require the user to clean up the obsolete entries from the GRUB menu?

Ubuntu Installation :: K3b Included With Kubuntu 10.04 Is It Beta Software?
May 16, 2010I noticed that when I click on help about in k3b is says 1.91.0. Why is release candidate version included with a LTS version of Kubuntu? On K3b's website, it points to this:[URL].. I've reported this and another problem to kde.org and launchpad. This is kinda sad that I can't even continue multisession DVD-Rs that were created with a previous version of k3b.
I'm trying to continue burning a multession DVD-R that was created with a previous version of k3b. I'm using kubuntu 10.04. K3b prompts me to insert a suitable medium into the drive but it says it has found medium appendable dvd-r medium.

Jul 28, 2009The same as Fedora, Mandriva Linux is rpm-based too, in most case they have similar package collection, but I've found some packages in Mandriva that are not included to "standard" Fedora Everything + RPMFusion + Linva repos. But there is no any kind of repo with Mandriva Packages for Fedora to be used with yum.
Yes, I know that I could try to install necessary rpms using rpm command, but this way I have manually download them and resolve dependences, it's very hard for many reasons. Also this way I could not easily group them and find similar packages by description. Is there any kind of repo with Mandriva (Suse and so on) packages for Fedora?

Is it because F11 is in freeze that there's been no update to KDE? Currently, the latest stable release of KDE is 4.2.4.

Jun 20, 2009I am installing to an empty hard drive (that for some reason is shown as /dev/sde - I don't know if it is related, but seems weird - why is it not sda, and moreover, not hda - it is an ide drive), and install goes through fine, but in the end it says "no kernel packages were installed, your grub configuration will not be changed", and the only option is to reboot. After rebooting, I get thrown into grub command prompt, and have no idea what to do there.
