Networking :: Any Way To Configure Linksys Router Via Browser
May 6, 2009
Is there a way to configure the Linksys router via my browser (like I do with a 2WIRE router) and if so, how? (the 2WIRE I just typed gateway in the address bar).
I have a Linksys WAG54G2 Router - this is set up and was working fine with Xp and my Apple I phone.I have just changed over from XP to Ubuntu, and am having difficulty in configuring wireless settings to accept UBUNTU.The hard wired Ethernet connection works fine.
I have been using the B version for many years, just got the G version for a B-day gift. I run OpenSuSE 11.3 and XP on one computer but I have several (3) wireless laptops in my house plus a xbox wireless. I also have 2 other ethernet computers connected to the B version. Can someone provide me with some links/info on how-to. When I did a Google search all I came up with is firmware upgrade...which I've done for the B version. Is it as easy as taking out the old...configuring the new?
I set up my linksys router for PPPoE and username, however, if the compter goes idle after a while, I have to go back into the configuration page, save settings and everything is ok. I would like to keep the connection alive 24/7. There are two settings: time to live (max idle time) redial Max idle time is now set at 10 minutes. The redial is grayed out. Are these the settings I should be concerned about?
I am dual booting XP and Ubuntu 10.10 64bit on a Dell Latitude E6410 and I have a Linksys WRT120N router connected to my Modem.
So the weird thing is, under XP I can use the internet while connected to my router. Under Ubuntu I can't use the internet while connected to my router. But I can use the internet in Ubuntu if I connect to my neighbor's router called "linksys". So something happens when I connect to my router that makes Ubuntu not able to access the internet. But if I'm connected to my Neighbors router or if I use XP while connected to my router I can use the internet.
I have been using Ubuntu for about a year, so I'm getting better but still a noob. I've tried to figure out what's going on by looking at other forums and posts and trying to see if anyone has solved this. So far I've had no luck. This is also the first of many problem I have encountered that I have been unable to solve using online posts, and is the first problem that I have had to resorted to creating a post to try and fix.
I am running Fedora 13 and I have a linksys WRT54G wireless router [1,2]. I'm having a strange problem. I'm using a computer connected to the router via a wired connection. At intermittent moments the connection seems to stop. I can't even ping the router (192.168.1.1). However, if I make NetworkManager reconnect to eth0 the connection immediately comes back and I can ping the router and navigate to websites. If I wait a random amount of time the connection also seems to comes back on its own (without reconnecting via NetworkManager). Any idea if this is a hardware (router) problem or a software problem? This didn't happen a month ago.
P.S: I have already updated to the latest firmware (Ver.8.00.8).[URL]..
Okay, a few days ago I got a small job setting up a router for a neighbour of mine. He wanted me to set up a wireless network for him. The router he bought is a Linksys Wireless N-Router E1000. I set it up the passwords and everything. Only to find out that I couldn't connect at all to it. The main computer with a direct ethernet connection to the router was the only one that had internet. Everytime I attempt to connect wirelessly with any device, it will take extremely long time to connect, to the point where I will just quit connecting.(Example: 15 minutes of waiting, when the laptop is right next to the router)
Any ideas about what I am doing wrong here? As far as I can think of it might just be a faulty router, because the router will not implement any changes(like setting a password) I set on it. Only wired connections seem to work. the router is called a linksys wirless N-router E1000.
I am trying to install ubuntu on an HP Pavillion dv7 laptop. The installation worked just fine. However, I cannot connect to our Linksys router wirelessly.
I have an Acer Aspire 1 Netbook - this is running UBUNTU- When I try to connect to my Linksys Router in wireless mode it asks for password - but doesnt accept. I can see the Linksys in network manager plus several other networks in the vicinity. My other wireless devices all connect O.K. to the Linksys, and accept my password.. I can hard wire by ethernet to the netbook. Just wireless is the problem
i installed ubuntu 10.04 from internet.but i cant connect to my wireless router linksys wrh54g ver 1.0,but if i using Local area connection its working, however my wireless connection working in my other os win xp.
I have a linksys router in my basement and physical access is pretty much blocked by a stuck trap-door. I could try to shut off the main power switch, but I like to see that as a last resort. The problem I have is that I have an open (no encryption) wifi connection between my pc and linksys router, yet I cannot connect to it. Until a couple of days ago I could connect to it with my android handheld device, my linux laptop, and my windows desktop. All these devices are now unable to connect. I attached the wicd log from my linux laptop. How to gain access to my router again?
Problem Summary: - Linksys WRT54G dd-wrt NOT able to route when in Router mode
Env: - Linksys WRT54G running dd-wrt v24 firmware - LAN Subnet: 10.0.0.0/8 - WAN Subnet: 172.16.0.0/16 - Linux FC13 configured as a IPv4 router - LAN 172.16.0.0/16 - WAN ISP/Public IP
After I installed a gigabit router, I could not access my nfs server anymore; I tried with the previous physical set-up and all was OK so clearly it is the new router that is the disturbing factor. After some (and then some) experimenting, it would appear that the following specific feature needs to be enabled: Filter Internet NAT Redirection This feature uses port forwarding to block access to local servers from local networked computers. Select this feature to filter Internet NAT redirection. It is not selected by default.
The reason I had simply looked over it is that I did not see how internet nat redirection could be related to the local network. As I read the details, it became clear that it really is but it also raised new questions. Have I now allowed just anyone on the internet to access to my nfs server? Because the description is not very clear either as it mentions both internet and local network. And what is that odd terminology? Filtering allows access, not filtering does not - that seems like the world upside down ...
Well this one is driving me nuts. I've been searching through the forums for a while and it seems that a number of folks have similar issues but the solutions used don't look like they apply to me. so without further ado here are the outputs typically requested:lspci
Code: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller (rev 03)
I just got a new wireless router (Asus WL-520GC). I can connect to the Internet, but I can't access 192.168.1.1 to configure the router (this is the correct address, according to the manual). It doesn't respond to a ping either.
Server details: OS: Linux RedHat DHCP: Static IP set to 192.168.1.101 sshd_config: Enabled for port 22 for ssh Connected through wire to the Linksys router
Router: Type: Linksys BEFW11S4 Port forwarding enabled for port 22 to IP 192.168.1.101
Client: Windows 7 Interface: PuTTy Host: 192.168.1.101 on port 22 through SSH
This always gives an error "connection timed out". SSH directly on the local Linux works fine.. Seems basic but had been struggling over this for past 3 hours to no avail so thought of posting it to the experts.
I have a router which have 4 ethernet ports(eth0,eth1,eth2,eth3,eth4 ) & One ADSL Line & One USB, I need to configure My router eth3 as a WAN & eth0 as a LAN using iperf, I am going to findout test a my Application(using iptables) whether my application is correct or wrong As of now I configured like server pc1(192.168.1.230)--->eth0(gw)(192.168.1.1)Router--eth3(gw)(192.168.2.1) -->pc2(192.168.2.157). For eth3 as a WAN and eth0 as a LAN. But I am not able to ping between two pc's.
I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router for my DSL connection. I select PPPOE as the connection type and when I go to connect I get the message cannot get ip address from ppoe server.
I have a router Asus RT-n16 where i've connected my EPSON DX5000. I've configured the printer function, adding the printer as AppSocket, adding router IP and port 9100 (socket://Router_IP:9100), but now i can't get the scanner function.
I've installed packages from here[URL].do (iscan) and adding on /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf the line
Code: net 192.168.1.1 #my router ip but it's not working. When i run scanimage -L i get this message:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). The scanner option worked fine when my printer is directly connected at my computer.
I have a Belkin Wireless G F5D7230-4. I was attempting to configure a wireless card on another computer on my network when it froze during the reboot phase after making settings adjustments. The wired connection is fine, except on that computer that I was making the adjustments from. It won't connect at all. I plugged a friends netbook into the same wired line and it connected. Also there is no wireless signal on any laptops. Mac, Win Linux, don't matter. I tried all the various methods of resetting to default but still when I try to access the router's config page @ http://192.168.2.1 I get the error Code: The server at 192.168.2.1 is taking too long to respond.
On this Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS server, I want to log the messages from a Linksys router. So I made this change to "/etc/init.d/sysklogd" SYSLOGD="-r" Then in "/etc/syslog.conf" I added the following to the top of the file: Code: if $fromhost isequal 'Linksys' then /var/log/Linksys.log & ~
Then I rebooted the server. But there is no "/var/log/Linksys.log" file.
I have just installed fedora 14 and would like to setup my linksys wag54g router in order for me to connect to the internet. I'm the newest newbie ti linux been spoiled rotten by the ease of installing stuff on win7. I need a step by step how to please as I am completely new to the command line as well. I have uploade the quick install guide for the router, but at this stage I dont know wether I should go ahead with what the install guide says or not as I dont know what works for linux.
I have been happily running the (always latest) version of PolarCloud's Tomato software on my LinkSys WRT54G for about 2 years now. I am looking for a way to setup a Proxy Server on my Tomato-based router to use from a remote machine somewhere in the web cloud. The reason for wanting to set this up follows. I normally run Squid on a Ubuntu 8.04 box, which I use while I am away from my LAN at home to browse the net (I like to keep things between me and my ISP, as much as possible . I rely on my proxy server on a daily basis. The way it works is I SSH into my Ubuntu box, and forward squid ports. I then point my browser to the proxy on my box. For various reason, however, I would like to set it up so that I can also do this via my router. So, I would like to be able to ssh to my router (I can already do this), forward the proxy ports, and surf the nets happily via my router at home. I am happy to use existing solutions (if possible), such as privoxy or squid, and am also open to setting up a custom-based solution, as may be necessary.
story is my brother is a dindows lover (gamer) and hes been gettin attacked by virus's,etc cause he runs his Vista setup with no firewall or antivirus
He says the firewall, etc slows down the PC too much for gaming He doesnt want to use Linux as his games wont play on Linux as on dindows
He wants to know if you can install a Linux firewall/gateway or whatever into his Linksys WRT54GC router and thus protect his PC without using a firewall or av in it.
EDIT: precisely; he has a Linksys wireless-G connected to a always-on Verizon Westel 6100G modem so its a wired connection, not wireless
Im trying to setup a radius server to use WPA2-Enterprise on a linksys wireless router. I have so far done the following from this link: [URL]... Im having trouble understanding/finding information on how to configure the configuration files so my radius server will work when somebody tries to authenticate.
