Hardware :: Touchpad Too Sensitive - Jumps All Over The Screen When Touch It

Dec 13, 2009

I'm running a Fujitsu Lifebook T5010 with Linux Fedora Release 12 and the mouse is way too sensitive, jumps all over the screen when I touch it, especially if 2 fingers touch at the same time. I've tried all the system settings and nothing helps. It works fine with Windows XP Professional.

General :: Make The Touchpad Less Sensitive?

Jul 13, 2011

The touchpad on my Lenovo Z560 is to sensitive. I went into the mouse setting and adjusted the pointer speed sensitivity as low as possible but I don't see any difference. The lightest touch will move the pointer. I saw where some have modified the xorg.conf file but I can't find it in Ubuntu 11.04. From what I could find with Google this laptop uses a Synaptics touchpad. I installed Gpointing-device-settings and was able to change the speed but not the sensitivity. How can I make the touchpad less sensitive?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Configure The Touch Sensitive Volume Level Control?

Feb 23, 2010

I have a acer aspire 8735G-6502 this bad boy [URL]: Acer Aspire 8735G-6502 18.4-Inch Widescreen Laptop: Computer & Accessories I am trying to figure out how to configure the touch sensitive volume level control. It works somewhat, but only increasing volume. Xev does a strange job detecting the key codes, and assigning keyboard short cuts does the same thing. In fact when moving ones finger in a downward, volume decreasing motion it picks up only strange upward finger motion.

Debian Hardware :: Synaptics TouchPad Jumps To Right Edge?

Feb 10, 2010

after finally being able to find the right configuration file for the Synaptics driver (I still think the change from HAL to udev was too silent...), I have gained the ability to configure my TouchPad. One Issue has been bothering me for a long time now: When moving the cursor from left to the right, at a certain position the mouse cursor jumps to the right edge of the screen. Here is the output of synclient while moving the finger constantly from left to right to illustrate the issue:

[code]....

Note that the value of RightEdge was changed by me in order to see if it has something to do with the issue. It has not, the cursor jumps at the same position, regardless of this value.

Ubuntu :: Mouse Jumps To Corner Of Screen?

Oct 10, 2010

For about a month now, my mouse has been jumping to one of the corners of my screen every few minutes (normally the top-left). I also had a problem where the right mouse button would double-click 90% of the time.

I just replaced my mouse a few minutes ago, and now the right button works fine, but the cursor keeps jumping to the corner of the screen.

I'm fairly certain this is not a hardware problem, since switching mice did not fix the problem.

Both were PS2 corded laser mice.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Dual-monitor Mouse Position Jumps When Moving Off-screen

Nov 4, 2010

I have a dual-screen set-up with Ubuntu 10.10. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 video card. I use my lower-resolution laptop screen on the left and a larger monitor on the right. The monitor is also physically higher than the monitor. See attachment for a screenshot.I have correctly set up my displays so that if the mouse is in the middle of the screen it can move from one screen to the other without jumping. The jumping happens when moving off of one screen in an area where the other screen is not directly next to it (some people call this 'the void').

Example: (See the attachment for a visual example of this.) My mouse is in the external monitor (right monitor). As I move the mouse to the top-left of the monitor (position 1), I by mistake go a little too far and instead of hitting the Ubuntu applications menu, I ended up at the top-right of the laptop monitor (left monitor; position 2). I quickly realize my mistake and move the mouse back to the right monitor, but now the mouse is at the middle-left position (position 3).This same error occurs by moving the mouse on the laptop monitor (left monitor) passed the bottom-right position. This is a big problem when scrolling vertical scroll bars on the laptop monitor (left monitor).I am looking for a fix that if the mouse is at position 1 in the attachment and I move the mouse left, it stays at position 1 and does not go to position 2.

Slackware :: Mouse Not Working \ Jumps Alot And Usually Ends Up At The End Of The Screen Unable To Move?

Jan 4, 2010

slackware and am infact running Vector Linux which is slackware based. I used to use fedora on my old laptop got a new on and tried vector. The mouse on the new one doesn't seem to want to work properly, it jumps alot and usually ends up at the end of the screen unable to move, however does manage to click almost every icon on the screen and change desktops.A USB mouse works fine its just the touchpad. It's a Zoostorm Freedom and I can't even find the windows drivers for it let alone what i need for this. I tried editing the xorg.conf to stop the tab button, which doesn't do anything, installed the latest synaptics and still nothing, tried using what someone else uses and still nothing, I cant even find out what kind of mouse it is!?

Ubuntu :: Cut Random Text And When The Cursor Focus Jumps Back To The Location Of The Cursor On The Screen

Jul 1, 2010

Im running netbook remix on a eeepc 1005ha. It is my only OS and Im loving it except for one obnoxious quirk. It randomly cuts text and randomly pastes it. If there is something in the clipboard, it will usually paste that, but just as often it will cut random text and paste that. The pastes occur when the cursor focus jumps back to the location of the cursor on the screen. I dont know a better way to phrase that, but thats what it is doing. Say... I put the cursor over the word "pastes" in the paragraph above... even though Im typing in this paragraph, the focus will "jump" to the cursors physical locale (the word "pastes") and then paste whatever is in the clipboard. If the cursor is outside of the textbox, the page will jump to the bottom.

This behavior occurs across programs and in any place text can be entered. I can find no rhyme or reason for it... it just... happens. Sometimes even when Im away from my computer, so its not like Im hitting some key on accident. I have loved everything about this ubuntu distro, but this issue is just toany obnoxious. Writing psych papers on this thing is going to be near impossible if I dont get this fixed before I go back to school.

Ubuntu :: Setting Up A Touch Screen

Oct 21, 2010

I must say I've spent many nights trying to get this touch screen going on ubuntu but with no luck. Does anyone have any general step by step instructions or is there any sites I can go on. I have a Acer t230h and the furthest Ive got with it is typing something into the terminal and getting out aload of strange looking symbols and stuff. I presume that was in the right direction but i forget what I pressed... something like 'lbus' but longer I think. I have the touchscreen info plugged in with a usb lead so what ever their called in ubuntu might be a help. another thing I did find something related to the screen in the /dev/ folder by plugin it in and out a couple of times and spotting what file was missing and coming back but when I run it in terminal this is what happens - evan@ubuntu:~$ cat /dev/hidraw0 cat: /dev/hidraw0: Permission denied

General :: Why Can't Get Usb Touch Screen On A EEE PC 900 To Work

Mar 1, 2010

I have checked and as of right now can not find any topic on my problem. I purchased and installed a usb touch screen for my EEE PC 900 4GB hard drive. My problem is that my computer will not recognize the screen. When I go into the Systems Test, The USB touch is recognized, but that is it. Do I have to download drivers? (Even for a usb?) I went into the bios, and enabled the web-cam, which I have used for power. (I think) If any one can offer me some advice, I will be forever grateful. I would love to have this up and running for my husbands birthday, which is in 2 weeks. Could the problem be with the size of the hard drive? I am 98% sure I have it installed correctly. I have followed the instructions that were supplied.

General :: Get A Touch Screen Working With Ubuntu 10.04LTS?

May 8, 2010

I'm trying to get a touch screen working with Ubuntu 10.04LTS (32bit) //changed to 32 bit -it is a serial touchsceen, connected at /dev/ttyS0 ,i know that works because I get garbage in the terminal when I enable it. -before the screen used a 3m driver (I believe) in XP.

My knowledge of Linux is passive so I generally pick up something when I need it. To get this working I came accross a lot of tutorials (a lot outdated a bit), I'm still at a loss to get this work.

I'm not sure where to put linux drivers (/usr/ or /dev/?) most tutorials kind of skip over that part. I have tried editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf unsuccessfully. I'm not sure what the syntax for that is supposed to be.

The touch and the stylus works out of box, and i'm using the script that Favux has posted to rotate my screen and i've installed the wacomrotate daemon, wich is working too. Now, I've two questions: How to calibrate it? The stylus is ok, but the touch isn't calibrated. In Karmic, I was using wacomcpl and xsetwacom, but neither of them detect my tablet now (in 9.10, Hal was used to detect the tablet, now it's xserver-xorg-input-wacom).

It's possible to set up the automatic screen rotation, like in Windows (the screen rotates automaticaly in tablet position)?

That works just fine, the twist here is I'm accessing the desktop through a touch-screen (via vnc on an android phone) and I don't have an alt button to hold, dragging is also kind of tough.. I realize it may just be the limitations of my device, but it can't hurt to ask!
