The problem is if I restart my computer, two finger scrolling doesn't work anymore and I have to go through the process again to get it working. Does anybody have some insight on this problem?

Apr 30, 2010I've freshly installed Lucid on Acer Aspire One 250. I had 9.10 before and two-finger scrolling was working with modification on the 11-x11synaptic.fdi file.
However, now with 10.04, the option in mouse properties is grey ed out... Any way to re-enable it?

Jun 26, 2011I most recently ran a developer preview of os x 10.7 Lion, and in that OS two finger scrolling was inverted (ie, moving two fingers upward on the touchpad would scroll you down the page). I love that I didn't need any extra drivers to get two finger scrolling working with ubuntu 11.04 on my 3rd gen mac air, and am super impressed with all the out of the box drivers for my mac; but I'm wondering if there's a way to invert the two finger scrolling directions. There must be... It's probably technically involved and will necessitate modify x11 files or something, but I think there must be a way.

However, one thing I really miss is the ability to move the cursor while holding the 'big button', I want to drag windows/icons with one finger holding down the physical button, and another finger dragging around.

But I can't figure out the last step: "All you need to do to have this run at startup [instead of typing ./2fsrl in terminal manually each time] is add it to you startup programs." I tried creating a file path to the 2fsrl file in Preferences -> Startup Applications program, but upon re-starting the laptop, the multi-touch isn't enabled anymore. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Can anyone advise? (Keep in mind my beginner's status!)

Feb 3, 2011i upgraded from f13 to f14 using preupgrade.
now, as the title suggests, the two finger tap acts as a right click, and the three button tab acts as a middle click. and also the tap to click seems disabled by default.
after reading this page, [URL], i created a 50-synaptics.conf file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ and put this inside.

Jul 7, 2011I'm trying to fix this screen problem I continue to have (an example: in Evolution, its like my screen is too small to see everything, I have to scroll over down or over, then the window moves over and pulls me back to original spot. I've tried to change the screen resolution and that actually makes things worse. The screen problem is very irritating and I don't know why its happening. I've been using Ubuntu or Mint for years and have never had this problem.
Also, a similar problem but nowhere near as annoying: the sides of either side of screen are black. I can't get the monitor to be completely filled. I went to Intel's website and they have a few drivers compatible for linux (at least that is what they are saying).
I'm using Ubuntu lts 10.04 lucid lynx

Nov 7, 2010I been having this problem with the login screen after i enabled it. It shows a little window with the the ubuntu logo with my computer's name underneath with the login button. Clicking the button does nothing but when I hit enter it seems like its booting up but freezes after it says "checking battery [done]" or something like that. is it a problem with the login screen? If so how do I fix it? If not what is the problem?

Apr 30, 2010I burned and checked the image, but cannot install or upgrade ( I DL both the full and alternate image) Hangs on the Ubuntu screen with the scrolling dots. After this, I tried mounting and running the install from the iso, but since all the files are either .inf or unknown, I don't know how. Next, I tried a trick from the ubuntu site using alt+F2 to run from the iso, and it seemed to work, but now it still tries to DL the updates from the internet instead of just getting them from the ISO. This also happens now if I try to upgrade from the update manager, it keeps asking for the install disk. Is there any way to just use the ISO as though it were a disk? I have been running 9.10 for months with no problems.

Mar 5, 2011I recently bought a 37" Vizio M370NV HDTV and connected it to my Kubuntu 10.10 desktop.Currently my resolution is 1280x1024, so there is black bars on the side of my screen. I want my resolution to be 1920x1080, which is what the TV/monitor says is it's primary resolution. However, when I set that resolution in nvidia-settings, my screen scrolls up. By that I mean that my screen keeps moving up my monitor and appearing at the bottom.

Does anyone have any general step by step instructions or is there any sites I can go on. I have a Acer t230h and the furthest Ive got with it is typing something into the terminal and getting out aload of strange looking symbols and stuff. I presume that was in the right direction but i forget what I pressed... something like 'lbus' but longer I think. I'm using LXDE on a HP510 Laptop, it's onboard graphics chipset is a: Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller. I am not using an xorg.conf file, so the settings are just the default autodetect ones I assume. I've noticed it when scrolling in firefox, and can't seem to get it to do it when scrolling in other applications, but I haven't really used this laptop much since installing the Fedora 12 LXDE spin recently. I'm not sure what information to supply that will help you help me. Here is a screenshot to show what happens.
I dunno what the big black box is, its only visible on the screenshot. I had to bind a script to printscreen to get it to make a screenshot, so its probably something I need to do here to get rid of it?

I also can't get the touchpad scrolling to work. Or my external monitor without some issues. So I think I will be making an xorg.conf file at some point.

I first noticed this in Fedora 14, and now I notice the same behaviour in Linux Mint.Does anyone know what might be causing this? Nov 21, 2010I Have installed openSUSE 11.3 using VMWare and liked it so I thought I would install as my main OS. So I downloaded the latest livecd Gnome and created a usb install using imagewriter with suse. I can boot to the initial menu asking if I want to boot the livecd or install. If I choose either it will begin to show a lot of things on the screen scrolling really fast and then the screen will go black. I've waiting up to about 15 minutes with no result.

I ssh somewhere if I work here ls or more huge text file then I can easy have x=100 or even 1000 lines. it's possible to scroll up and down in the window to se text etc. Then I start screen cmd... then I only have that amount of screen hight and width of the original screen visible from the first window when I started the screen function. How do one configure so that it is possible to scroll indefinite if I for instance do a more command on a text file with some 1000 lines?

May 8, 2010I'm trying to get a touch screen working with Ubuntu 10.04LTS (32bit) //changed to 32 bit -it is a serial touchsceen, connected at /dev/ttyS0 ,i know that works because I get garbage in the terminal when I enable it. -before the screen used a 3m driver (I believe) in XP.
My knowledge of Linux is passive so I generally pick up something when I need it. To get this working I came accross a lot of tutorials (a lot outdated a bit), I'm still at a loss to get this work.
I'm not sure where to put linux drivers (/usr/ or /dev/?) most tutorials kind of skip over that part. I have tried editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf unsuccessfully. I'm not sure what the syntax for that is supposed to be.

Apr 16, 2010I have a Fujitsu P1610 convertible running 9.10. I only like the two bars visible when I need them otherwise they just take up valuable screen space, especially on a 8.9" screen.
My problem is I cannot make the bars come up by moving the cursor via my finger. It works fine if I move the pointer via a mouse but that is not an option when in tablet mode. How can I make them come up when I move the cursor to their location via my finger?

General :: Why Can't Get Usb Touch Screen On A EEE PC 900 To Work
Mar 1, 2010I have checked and as of right now can not find any topic on my problem. I purchased and installed a usb touch screen for my EEE PC 900 4GB hard drive. My problem is that my computer will not recognize the screen. When I go into the Systems Test, The USB touch is recognized, but that is it. Do I have to download drivers? (Even for a usb?) I went into the bios, and enabled the web-cam, which I have used for power. (I think) If any one can offer me some advice, I will be forever grateful. I would love to have this up and running for my husbands birthday, which is in 2 weeks. Could the problem be with the size of the hard drive? I am 98% sure I have it installed correctly. I have followed the instructions that were supplied.
