General :: Wvdialconf Does Not Generate The Wvdial.conf File - Puppy ?

Jan 21, 2010

Why when I execute '# wvdialconf' in Puppy 4.3.1 no 'wvdial.conf' file is generated in /etc, or, anywhere else?

I did a 'find / -name wvdial*.*' and could not find it.

Fedora Networking :: Wvdial Does Not Automatically Update Resolv.conf In Fc 12

Mar 31, 2010

My resolv.conf states:

No nameservers found; Try putting DNS servers into your ifcfg files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts like so: [...]

After running wvdial. I suppose I have to create a file ifcfg-ppp0, but what does it have to contain in order to automatically grep the DNS servers from wvdial?

In Ubuntu, it works just fine, just that I don't have an Ubuntu installation anymore.

Ubuntu Networking :: Stop Wvdial From Overwriting /etc/resolv.conf?

Mar 3, 2010

I use wvdial and a 3G modem to connect to the network. On the same host I also run bind9 which is authorative for my local network. The problem is that when wvdial connects, it overwrites /etc/resolv.conf, which means that DNS lookups on that host no longer get made to localhost (as specified by the original resolv.conf file) and end up at the local instance of bind which is authorative for in-house hostnames, but end up with the ISP who doesn't know my in-house host names. The local DNS forwards to the ISP, so the ISP's DNS'es are not required in resolv.conf.How can I prevent wvdial from overwriting /etc/resolv.conf?Removing write privileges from /etc/resolv.conf did not work.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Rip Audio From One .mp4 File And Then Generate One .mp3 File

Dec 19, 2010

So I use the following to rip audio from one .mp4 file and then generate one .mp3 file.

Code:
caleb@linux-vmp1:~> ffmpeg -i a -ab 128000 -ar 44100 01.mp3

Obviously, this takes a file named a and makes a file named 01 that is an mp3. It works great and I have used it many times. The problem is, I would like to rip the audio from several files all at once. I am sure there is a way to do it but I haven't stumbled upon the way to do it.

General :: Modify A File Like /etc/gdm/custom.conf From The Shell Or A Script?

Jun 22, 2010

I want to modify a file like /etc/gdm/custom.conf from the shell or a script.

# GDM configuration storage
[xdmcp]
[debug]
[daemon]
AutomaticLoginEnable=true;
AutomaticLogin=username;

But the idea is that I can add a line to a section and it check if the section is defined, (add the definition if not), the property is defined, let it undefine (erase the line), (and delete the section header if there is no property defined), etc...

I didn't find anything except gconftool-2 but it do not explain how to modify other files. (there is a shema file there).

there isn't a program/script to achieve this, but can easyly be made for every config file, If someone do something like that, with a little database of which markup use each file, it could become really popular.

General :: Installating SSL Certificates / Add Directives To Apache2.conf File?

Feb 15, 2011

I am installing some SSL certificates on my web server, however I have a couple questions, as I'm not familiar with this process

1) I'm not sure which directory to put them in? What is good practice? Is /var/www/secure a good location so long as I restrict access to the secure directory?

2) I am told to edit the following in my ssl.conf file of apache2

SSLCertificateFile
SSLCertificateKeyFile
SSLCertificateChainFile

However, I cannot find this file, ssl.conf. Nor can I find the above directives in my main apache2.conf file. Where is the ssl.conf file? Or alternatively, could I just add the above directives to my apache2.conf file?
