View 4 Replies View RelatedI have wine installed on Ubuntu 10.04. I am trying to get Quicken 2004 installed with the installation cd. I open the cd to go to the Install.exe file. Right click on the that file and tell it to: Open with wine windows program loader. I get the following window:The file '/media/QW04BASR1/install.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.Ok, I go to read about executable bit. Looks like I need to change the permission of it. Won't let me do it. Says:Sorry, could not change the permissions of "install.exe": Error setting permissions: Read-only file system Ok, look up and see that it is a read only. Click to change that to the only other option: Read & Write. What do I need to do here? I have never had this problem installing Quicken in wine before using previous versions of Ubuntu.

Requirements
-----------
Lifeograph requires the following modules to be built:
* gtkmm,
* gconfmm,
* gtkspell, and
* gcrypt.
Installation
------------
Type "make" to build and "make install" to install (all without quotes). No configuration atm.
I tried make, but it doenst really work. So i think i dont have good requirements.
-> how do I install the required modules? -> I've found some in packet manager, but some appear to be librarys.
I am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLot of questions about WINE... When I'm done I'm going to make a HOWTO so that others can do what I did It's hard work, but I'm nearly done.The last problem I'm having is the WINE menu on GNOME won't show up after a install of WINE from a .deb package (it usually does). This was after I compiled WINE from source and removed it with "make uninstall" and "rm -rf /.wine".So now I installed the WINE from a deb package and the Wine menu entry is not showing up.I've tried re-installing Wine and rebooting my PC but nothing seems to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed a game (Shredder 11) using Wine on my Ubuntu system. The installation seemed to go well, including the directx part, but when I want to run the game, I can't find it anywhere. It's not in Applications -> Wine, it's not on Wine's C: drive, and I even tried a search "find / -name shredder", which came up empty. I tried to install it again, but according to the installation program it is already installed! (It asked me if I wanted to modify, repair, etc..).

I'm currently trying to get a windows compiled program to work through Wine to run on Linux and MacOSX.

I know the subject title makes it seem like this should be something on the Slackware forums but I think it can be generalized to other 64-bit Linux operating systems which is why I ask here. I'm running Slackware 13.37 64-bit and was wondering if I use Wine to run a Windows program (with multilib files), would it still run as if it had been used on a 64-bit computer?

I feel there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on between C++ and me...My problem is that I have a deque of pointers to a class, and create objects then add them to the deque in a for loop. However, the destructor is called on the object as soon as the loop quits.
Code:
This prints:
Code:
Now, if I change the deque from deque<Test*> to deque<Test> then it works fine - I get:
Code:
However, I can't do this with my actual code, because I am creating a deque of pointers to an abstract class, so it won't let me instantiate the class. (This is all so that I can take advantage of polymorphism, and call functions on a set of similar objects without worrying what type of object I'm dealing with).
So, I suppose my question is: what is the correct way to create that deque of pointers to the abstract class? I don't seem to be barking up the right tree currently.
when I tried to install wine I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"so I looked for wine-gecko and download it but also when I tried to install it I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"it seems that I am in loop each package need the other what to do please?

where I can obtain a RPM of a program called "aacgain"?
It 'normalizes' the volume of m4a, mp4 and m4v files quite nicely. It used to be in the Packman repositories but I cannot find it in the ones for openSUSE 11.4 and going back to openSUSE 11.2 (my previous install) I cannot find it there either. I used to have it installed though and it still has a page on Packman's search page, here, PackMan :: Package details for aacgain . It is rather odd, its website, AACGAIN , says that it can only be released as source code due to licensing issues but I can't seem to find it in the zip of the source code for "mp3gain" like it says it is on SourceForge.
I would just like it back on my system after I upgraded to openSUSE 11.4 and I find it rather useful so I am missing it quite a lot.
