General :: Run Program In Wine From Kickoff Menu

I delete XP totaly and now I use only Linux.In windows I was using free diction and I want to make it to run from kickoff menu(I am with KDE). The problem is that in Konsole

run the program but with that command in command line in Menu Editor it has some error with diction database and can't run. I try to use "", but with no success.What I have to do in order to run the program from kickoff menu by simply clicking it?

Is there any way to switch program titles in the Kickoff menu to the actual program name? i.e. "Web Browser" to "Mozilla Firefox" instead.

I try to add program to Kickoff menu with the menu editor, make settings and click "save" to save changes. System update configuration but nothing happen. The addend program does not appear int the menu. If I close menu editor the changes are gone. It looks like that menu editor can't save my settings. What is wrong?

I installed WINE, and decided to remove it after installing something, I was unable to uninstall, so I just removed WINE, now, I have the program stuck in my main menu. I deleted the path and stuff, but it's still there. How do I get rid of it?

I just installed Kubuntu, but whenever I install an application or remove one, the Kickoff Menu doesn't update to reflect this. The strange thing is, I can actually click on apps I supposedly uninstalled and they still launch, for example I replaced libreoffice with openoffice, and the menu still only shows libreoffice...

I get this error when trying to access the trash icon from the kickoff menu or from the trashcan widget.BTW, I can access trash via Dolphin or Nautilus though.

I am running kubuntu 10.04 (32 bit) and have installed the latest version of the Opera 10.53 beta.
My problem is that I cannot change the icon for Opera in the Kickoff menu or on the desktop. I tried right clicking on the Kickoff Application Launcher widget on the panel and choosing Menu Editor; Navigated to Opera and changed the icon from the default KDE icon (opera) to the new styled Opera icon (opera-browser), but it doesn't change.

Sometimes I get this weird thing where typing a name into the kickoff menu hangs after a few letters. It hangs the entire computer! Once it happens, I try to close it but have to wait about 20 seconds before I can do anything on the computer. Then everything else works fine (after it's closed). But if I go back to kickoff and try again, it does the same thing! I can't seem to find anything in "top" to indicate what's happening.

I am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.

I installed a game (Shredder 11) using Wine on my Ubuntu system. The installation seemed to go well, including the directx part, but when I want to run the game, I can't find it anywhere. It's not in Applications -> Wine, it's not on Wine's C: drive, and I even tried a search "find / -name shredder", which came up empty. I tried to install it again, but according to the installation program it is already installed! (It asked me if I wanted to modify, repair, etc..).

I'm currently trying to get a windows compiled program to work through Wine to run on Linux and MacOSX.
When I run the program through wine, it prompts me to install Gecko which I do. Later on in the program, it attempts to use MSHTML to render HTML but I get these error messages on my console instead.

I know the subject title makes it seem like this should be something on the Slackware forums but I think it can be generalized to other 64-bit Linux operating systems which is why I ask here. I'm running Slackware 13.37 64-bit and was wondering if I use Wine to run a Windows program (with multilib files), would it still run as if it had been used on a 64-bit computer?

This may be elementary to some, and prolly should to me. Quiet awhile ago I took off wine and deleted EVERYTHING wine from my /home. Now I want to try wine again, and I know it's installed, but it don't show up in applications. I've tried "edit menus > revert" but that don't work. I hear wine has made some progress and don't want to format my /home partition.

I only use it to run a program off of CD, not an installed application. This same program ran fine with wine under Fedora 10 & 11, but not on Fedora 12. I installed wine with:
Code: yum install wine as root. When I try to execute the program, it shows the little bouncing wine icon and all, but then wine disappears. Also, when I looked at the wine configuration, the configuration program crashed/hung. I had to kill it via the System Monitor. I'm on a KDE desktop with hardware acceleration, and Fedora 12 x86_64.

I installed Wine and several menu entries were created in my GNOME applications menu. However, when I went to change the menu items later, (Through [Edit Menus]), the Wine Menu folder was replaced with the 'Other' folder, and the layout of the Wine Menu was destroyed.

I have tried installing logmein in wine. It installed fine, but didn't work so I removed it. Its icons though, would not be deleted so I removed Wine entry in "Edit menus".
after this I purged wine, deleted /.wine and reinstalled, but the menu entries do not get reinstalled. I know how to make launchers, what I want is the interactive menus back (browse c, uninstall and programs)

Alright, after trying to organize shortcuts in Wine's menu (which did not work), I ended up hitting the 'Revert' button, which changed the names of most of the folders:

As you've probably guessed, I want to remove "wine-Programs-" from the beginning of the folder names. I've tried using the menu editor to do this, but the 'Properties' button does not seem to work on anything I did not create myself. How do I go about editing the names?
I would also like to know how to move the MS Office shortcuts into a custom folder/menu. They refuse to drag into any folder I make.

I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.10 and the version of Wine in the standard repository. In the past, when I've installed wine, it automatically gave me a Programs menu from which I could launch all the Windows programs I installed. That menu is now missing.I tried uninstalling Wine, removing the ~/.wine folder, and removing all references to wine and wine programs in ~/.local/share... with no effect.can't get the Programs menu to come back.

I am trying to uninstall a windows program under wine called IMVU chat.I am using wine 1.2.2 under ubuntu 11.04 in classic mode.the unistaller locks up an will not complete. (let it run for 20 minutes).Did a manual delete of the directories, cleaned the registry using regedit,cleaned the files in .wine directory of anything that said imvu.rebooted, and I still have a menu listing under wine, for IMVU.clicking on a menu item says file not found.My problem is I cant find where wine keeps it menu listing for installed programs.I did find instructions for how to remove every menu at winehq, but not.how to just delete a single item.

I attempted to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 under Wine and it failed. Then I read a thread that offered some tweaks. But now when I try to install all that it offers to do is UNinstall. I thought I could UNinstall and then reinstall, but no...It fails to UNinstall too...just as it failed to install. So I'm wondering how to remove this (the command line way) from the system. I tried "yum remove wine" and when I put wine back, like a phantom, the same problem was there. I tried removing the entire .wine directory in my home folder...same problem.
