General :: Poor Uploading Speed In Openvpn?

I had configured openvpn (2.0.9) on my Centos 5.4 machine.I want to route all client traffic through my gateway.So i had enabled (push "redirect-gateway ") in server configuration.Now the problem is the upload speed is very low while connecting through vpn.Normally i got 700 kbps download and 650 kbps upload speed.But while connecting through Vpn the upload speed is only 110-130 kbps but download is almost stable.Here is my Server and client conf Files.

(this is a repost of the same thread in the networking/wireless forum, I think it's better suited here but couldn't see a way to move it) I have a Proliant Microserver, I have Ubuntu Server 10.10 installed onto to a USB stick (the server has an internal USB port). The storage drives are Samsung SpinPoint F1s. The server is plugged into a gbE switch, there is a link from that to a 200mbps powerline link, from there it goes to a 100mbps switch and then to my machine I was testing from.
I realise that a powerline link can often slow things up, but I use the same link for my Internet connection which will happily pull files down at around 4.3mb/s.. so I know the link isn't the bottleneck. If i copy anything via any of the samba shares then it transfers at around 1.5mb/s. This speed does not change if I try plugging the client into the same gbE switch as the server. Similar spees are shown if i transfer it over http via apache2 as well. Client machines are laptop running ubuntu and a win7 desktop. Speeds are the same copying to both of them. My wireless is flakey -- dropped connections, poor speed, etc. As diagnosis, I loaded the 'wavemon' utility so that I might watch the radio and signal and noise.Things will be good, then fall off, then get better, then go away entirely. Repeat continuously and randomly. For these experiments, my laptops -- more than one -- are on a table.The table is roughly 15-20 ft laterally from the access point. The access point is also 8 ft above the floor vs. 3 ft table height.(grin) While the signal "wobbles" everything else is mechanically stable and otherwise not moving.

Let's say we have machine 1 and machine 2. Machine 2, which is linux based, is receiving a file (let's say cat.jpg sent via SCP from machine 1 (doesn't really matter which operating system..) How can I know in machine 2, that the file has finished uploading from machine 1 ? Please note that by "knowing" I mean by running a command (via a cron that runs every minute), and not by an event driven way ("make the scp issue a command when it is finished uploading"). Another limitation I have is that I can't change anything in machine 1 or in the way it SCP files.
If it really matters: the files being transferred are video file, MP4 extension. machine 2 is ubuntu 10.10

This involved removing all unwanted spaces and making one single string whenever possible.Is this approach still encouraged?Is there software that does that and respects the line-oriented scripts like Javascript embeded in HTML code?

I am running Debian 5.0.5 and want it to convert a video file after upload, then update in MySQL if possible? I have tryed ff-mpeg and yes I could convert to FLV but the Pixelation where very bad and and if I closed the browser it finished the conversion but didn't updated it in the database.

I now have a .tar.gz that has been created during my script, and finnaly i need to upload it via ftp to my computer, but i am unable to because i keep getting the "Connection refused" error, despite the fact that all the syntax appears to be right. in a bout of frustration, i have deleted the code and now no longer have what i had written.. so could someone please let me know the syntax to upload a file to a server? I am aware that other threads have been started about this issue but I am trying to ftp from an iPhone to a computer...

I want to configure a VPN over the Internet.I installed the 'openvpn' package, generated the key file, transfered it by a secure way to the client, and setted up the configuration file.
So, in that configuration file I input the IP addresses of the tunneled interfaces. Both IPs are static in the tunnel.
Then, I've heard somewhere that I can assign a dynamic configuration IP for the client. I do this registering a range.
Well, when I tried to change static IP to dynamic IP (changing '192.168.0.2' to '192.168.0.0/24') in the configuration file, the OpenVPN didn't work.
Obviously I don't know what I'm doing, and I really, don't believe that simply changing the IP will make it work, but I tried.
I hope I explained my problem as well.
My configuration file:

In client I execute the 'openvpn' without the '--daemon' parameter.Then I want that my client uses a IP in a range (192.168.0.0/24, for example), instead of a static IP (192.168.0.2).I also thought to use a DHCP server, but I'm not sure that will work.

I've just installed Slackware 13.1 in two different laptops for first time. I have some strange internet browsing behaviour in one of the laptops. I've installed 2 internet browsers(firefox,opera) using the directions from Slackbuilds.org and there is also konqueror pre-installed. Moreover I installed Wicd network manager.
I can browse some pages e.g. ..... with firefox very slowly but NEVER facebook. I can browse almost any page, even facebook, with OPERA but very very slowly. The same goes with konqueror... Wicd shows that i am always connected with my WPA wireless network

Hybrid Storage harddisks use a large non-volatile cache to save power and improve speed. I wanted to ask if there's a reasonably simple way to simulate that under Linux. Ideally there would be a FUSE-filesystem that does this, For now this is purely theoretical, but my setup would be a small home server (Sheeva Plug) with an external USB harddisk that goes to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity. To keep it powered down as long as possible, I would like to use a 16GB SD card as a cache for the harddisk, thus simulating Hybrid Storage.
The only possible solutions I found thus far were Hierarchical storage management packages for enterprise use, which are way too expensive for this task.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 510m with onboard Intel 855 sound (STAC 9750 AC97). The sound was perfect with WinXP, but with Ubuntu it's tinny and lacks richness and vibrates and distorts at higher volumes. I've played around with Alsamixer and changed the driver from ALSA to OSS4 and it has improved slightly, but still not perfect. Is it just not gonna get any better, should I not be expecting it to be as good as WinXP?
I've seen on the Intel site a Linux driver for my controller, it's a tarball but it won't compile after extracting it (read on this forum that someone had the exact same problem with that driver). Will the Intel driver not help, does the problem go deeper than just the driver? It would be perfect it you could just wrap the Dell/Intel driver and use that (just like with wireless ndiswrapper).

Ubuntu 64bit. The sound system works and plays noises correctly when I test the speakers in sound preferances. The internet BBCi player(Radio) plays sound correctly. Banshee & Rhythmbox try to play music files at double, or more, speed with no sound output. Spotify Linux version also tries to playback at double speed with no sound output. Media Player attempts to play music files at high speed. Media player plays the Video and audio tracks at high speed. VLC Will play the video at normal speed but with no audio.

i both have the same problem, i'm trying to burn my images at 4 or 8 speed, but ubuntu 10.04 says that the hardware does not support that kind of speed and switch up to 16 speed and more. i know it can burn at low speeds, at least in windows, it is a bit strange that fast burning is okee, and slow not, what can i do to prevent this? i don't wanna burn to much errors on my discs

I connect to a VPN using openVPN. Now, after the connection is established, all my traffic goes through tun0. My LAN gateway is 10.100.98.4... So, for apps to use my direct internet connnection I did
sudo route add default gw 10.100.98.4
But, I cant use tun0 now. I know this because
curl --interface tun0 google.com
doesnt give me anything.. How do I go about using both connections simultaneously. How can I achieve that?

I am trying to start a 2nd openvpn service on my server so that clients can connect via udp instead of tcp.However when I run: openvpn /etc/openvpn/openvpn2.conf
I get no response at all.Usually I would expect the startup parameters or at least an error but I get nothing. I have to CTrl+c to get back to the prompt.ANy ideas what I can try?I changed the serve config so it has tun1 instead of tun and also changed the log files to openvpn-status2.log so it doesn't overwrite the other server.I also changed the network so there wouldn't be any IP conflicts. Openvpn1 runs on 172.16.x.x

I connect my pc to the lan port of the router, and i want to try it out. I'm using Fedora 14 with GNOME. In the NetworkManager applet i set these things: this and this. Ok!. i try to connect, but it fails. Here are the logs: [URL]
one important thing: my routers [the one with the openvpn server] ip address is 192.168.1.2, and i didn't had to write it nowhere. so how could the networkmanager applet know the ip address of my openvpn server? i think this is the problem, but i just can't find where to write 192.168.1.2
p.s.: yes, i tried to google for: "No server certificate verification method has been enabled." but i didn't find a thing, and i'm trying for hours now... :
