View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are having this problem when a user tries to upload a file to the Red Hat 4.0 server via SSH (sftp). When the user tries to write the file it returns this error:
Error 8 :/FILENAME (dst):undefined error (server msg: 'Failure')
The error doesn't give you any description for some reason. When I try to upload the same file with root user there is no error and it works perfectly, but with other users it returns this error. I first suspected that it is a permissions problem, but then the same error is there even if I open up all permissions wide for the directory that the file is copied into (set permissions to 'drwxrwxrwx').
I now have a .tar.gz that has been created during my script, and finnaly i need to upload it via ftp to my computer, but i am unable to because i keep getting the "Connection refused" error, despite the fact that all the syntax appears to be right. in a bout of frustration, i have deleted the code and now no longer have what i had written.. so could someone please let me know the syntax to upload a file to a server? I am aware that other threads have been started about this issue but I am trying to ftp from an iPhone to a computer...

Machine 2, which is linux based, is receiving a file (let's say cat.jpg sent via SCP from machine 1 (doesn't really matter which operating system..) How can I know in machine 2, that the file has finished uploading from machine 1 ? Please note that by "knowing" I mean by running a command (via a cron that runs every minute), and not by an event driven way ("make the scp issue a command when it is finished uploading"). Another limitation I have is that I can't change anything in machine 1 or in the way it SCP files.
If it really matters: the files being transferred are video file, MP4 extension. machine 2 is ubuntu 10.10

This involved removing all unwanted spaces and making one single string whenever possible.Is this approach still encouraged?Is there software that does that and respects the line-oriented scripts like Javascript embeded in HTML code?

I recently upgraded my file/media server to Fedora 11. After doing so, I can no longer copy large files to the server. The files begin to transfer, but typically after about 1gb of the file has transferred, the transfer stalls and ultimately fails with the message:
"Error writing to file: Input/output error"
I've run out of ideas as to what could cause this problem. I have tried the following:
1. Different NFS versions: NFS3 and NFS4
2. Tried copying the files to different physical drives on the server.
3. Tried copying the files from different physical drives on the client.
4. Tried different rsize and wsize block sizes when mounting the NFS share
5. Tried copying the files via a different protocol. SSH in this case. The file transfers are always successful when I use SSH.
Regardless of what I do, the result is the same. The file transfers always fail after approximately 1gb.
Some other notes.
1. Both the client and the server are running Fedora 11 kernel 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.x86_64
I am out of ideas. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
I have set up a local server for testing on my home network and installed openSSH. I can login using filezilla and SFTP and can even download files. Error messages saying cannot find directory (the directory I am trying to upload)?
Do I need to configure openSSH to allow this. I am using my usual ubuntu login. Maybe I need to set up another user for SFTP.
I am using ubuntu karmic koala and i have firefox web browser. Whenever I try to upload files in some file hosting sites, my firefox web browser hangs. I think the file hosting site is using some kind of uploader that requires java/javascript.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been messing with rsync but I don't see any kinda time limitations that will start the sync at 1am and stop it at 5am and resume the next night. Im dealing with some rather big files so the program will need to be able to resume an upload. I would like to use the ssh protocol to send the files as it's encrypted. (something like scp is fine too) but I can't see how to get them to stop at 5am (I thought of using a cron job but then how do I stop it at 5 without corrupting the partially uploaded file...)Both OS's are linux/unix based (Debian/Max OS X with ports)

I had configured openvpn (2.0.9) on my Centos 5.4 machine.I want to route all client traffic through my gateway.So i had enabled (push "redirect-gateway ") in server configuration.Now the problem is the upload speed is very low while connecting through vpn.Normally i got 700 kbps download and 650 kbps upload speed.But while connecting through Vpn the upload speed is only 110-130 kbps but download is almost stable.Here is my Server and client conf Files.

Ubuntu 9.10 was set up to handle the booting selection - previously I thought it was xp but Ubuntu 9.10 "did" it. The system started out as a xp / ubuntu 9.10 dual boot on a 400gb drive. xp has 210gb, ub has 80 and their is a 100gb shared storage. Xp was installed first and then I followed a guide over at linuxconfig.org to get ub installed so that I could select which OS was wanted at boot. Ubuntu manages the boot up menu (Went back to look at my notes from the original setup) The owner tried to update to ub 11.04 and afterall was said and done the machine now boots to the message
error file not found grub rescue I can't say if 11.04 was properly installed or not. Ask whatever you like and I'll give the best answer I can. I think the xp install is okay but I can't say for certain as I don't know how to boot it outside the bootmanager at startup. Data has been saved so if I have to blow it all away and start over I can but I'm hoping I won't have to.

error message when I ran my program that I couldn't open my local file. I have two files first one is called client, second one is called server I am using named pipes to sent a message from client to the other file called server in client I used mknod() to create the two named pipes,one for read,one for write and created new thread in client using fork() spawned a child process that executed the server file both named pipes are opened the client file got the message from the user and sent it through the named pipes to the server file when the server receives the message , it needs to verfify it is correct in the server file, a local file descriptor is created to read and send this verifing message when it is not correct but I am getting an OPEN() error when I tried to open this shared local array buff and attach it to a file descriptor where the message is kept why do I get this error in server file
