I'm very new to Linux, and I have ran a Windows XP server before, with a Apache2 Server software for Windows. and didn't have any problems with it, but I really want to set this server up with Linux.
The server is running, but the only thing that comes up in the browser, is the html pages, the pages call all the images from a folder /images/ but for some reason I can't get it to pull the folder up. None of the graphics show on any of the pages.
I also have a VirtualHost setup, and have another website set up in the DocumentRoot with the 2nd site, but it won't come up ether, even tho it is listed as the 2nd VirtualHost, and have that folder set up as the DocumentRoot.
I'm just using IP Addresses for now till I get this all sorted out.So if I enter the IP the main page comes up, just no graphics. if I enter the IP Address/2ndSiteFolder/ I get a directory listing with the 2nd site folder listed, so now if I click on the 2ndSiteFolderName, it comes up as IP/2ndSiteFolder/2ndSiteFolder/ Now the 2nd site comes up, and so does all the Graphics for that site, even if I go to some of the other subfolders site. So its just weird. I don't know what I need to do to get this to work right.
I know it has to do with setting up the folders for VirtualHost, I just don't know what it is. I have been working on this for a week, and I'm not getting anywhere..

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are having this problem when a user tries to upload a file to the Red Hat 4.0 server via SSH (sftp). When the user tries to write the file it returns this error:
Error 8 :/FILENAME (dst):undefined error (server msg: 'Failure')
The error doesn't give you any description for some reason. When I try to upload the same file with root user there is no error and it works perfectly, but with other users it returns this error. I first suspected that it is a permissions problem, but then the same error is there even if I open up all permissions wide for the directory that the file is copied into (set permissions to 'drwxrwxrwx').
I have been messing with rsync but I don't see any kinda time limitations that will start the sync at 1am and stop it at 5am and resume the next night. Im dealing with some rather big files so the program will need to be able to resume an upload. I would like to use the ssh protocol to send the files as it's encrypted. (something like scp is fine too) but I can't see how to get them to stop at 5am (I thought of using a cron job but then how do I stop it at 5 without corrupting the partially uploaded file...)Both OS's are linux/unix based (Debian/Max OS X with ports)

I tried using an awk gsub () command within the string instead of the two seds, but it did not work:

the sed works ok, but it would be cooler to make the replacement within the awk command:
gsub(/->/,-> IN, $1)
Is there a way where i could replace the value of the $1 column in the awk print string?
Let's say we have machine 1 and machine 2. Machine 2, which is linux based, is receiving a file (let's say cat.jpg sent via SCP from machine 1 (doesn't really matter which operating system..) How can I know in machine 2, that the file has finished uploading from machine 1 ? Please note that by "knowing" I mean by running a command (via a cron that runs every minute), and not by an event driven way ("make the scp issue a command when it is finished uploading"). Another limitation I have is that I can't change anything in machine 1 or in the way it SCP files.
If it really matters: the files being transferred are video file, MP4 extension. machine 2 is ubuntu 10.10

I had configured openvpn (2.0.9) on my Centos 5.4 machine.I want to route all client traffic through my gateway.So i had enabled (push "redirect-gateway ") in server configuration.Now the problem is the upload speed is very low while connecting through vpn.Normally i got 700 kbps download and 650 kbps upload speed.But while connecting through Vpn the upload speed is only 110-130 kbps but download is almost stable.Here is my Server and client conf Files.

Moving right along, I have a folder of MP3 files containing various Movie sound tracks and scores. I'm using Audio Tag Tool to tag all the files at once with an "Artist" of "Soundtrack", and to inherit the "Title" tag from the file name. After that, I will rename all the files (Using Audio Tag Tool -- awesome program, btw) with the format "<Artist> - <Title>.mp3"
The problem, is many of my files already contain the string "Soundtrack", which would be redundant. I happen to be a perfectionist, so I'm unable to ignore it and move on. Hence my question to you fine folk: I want to delete all instances of "soundtrack" (-i case irrelevant) in the filenames before I go through the above steps. But, its not quite that simple. I have a Cent OS 5.4 32 bit final installed in my dedicated server.
I used to run lighttpd with php in my server until now and all was fine.But yesterday I changed my website which needs apache to run. So installed apache using yum install httpd command.
Then I added the virtual host name of my domain in webmin panel but when i try to run my php script in browser then its not opening php pages.
Instead it downloads php files like index.php when i open in browser.So I guess apache is not able to compile and run php pages. Only html pages are opening right now..

I rented a server to run CS 1.6 game servers. I had someone install Apache and configure my server to be able to use control panel for my game servers( i am running 4 gservers and have 5 ips = 1 ip is free). When i type my primary ip in the web browser it displays the Apache test page.
My question is can i add pages to the Apache without messing up anything with the control panel or my game servers. I am familiar with html. My primary ip is used for 1 of th egame servers but i can change that if necessary. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have apache running on my server, and also Zoneminder, a surveillance system running on the same machine. Both services runs without glitches, and I think apache's config as well as ZM's config are fine. I am not sure I understand how apache (not to mention the whole thing zoneminder, apache, web browser...) works. Pretty hard to manage when you dont know what you are doing. Also, when I try the supposed to work zoneminder webpage in my web browser, I get nothing (a blank page), or sometimes a "Not found" error message. The latest seems to be from apache because it is the same font as the "It works!" message when I try http://localhost:80
The only bit of information I have so far is in the apache error log (/var/log/httpd/error_log) and it says:
