General :: Ntfs Parition Not Mounting At Startup / If Enabled Selinux In Rhel 5?
Feb 18, 2010
i have dual OS in my hard disk. win xp and rhel5. i used use ntfs partition too while working in linux. There is no problem until i enable selinux. When i enabled that, its giving some error at startup and left the partition unmounted. But manually i can mount after logged in. But i need it at the startup itself. How to solve this.i am installed dkms* dkms-fuse* fuse* and fuse-ntfs-3g* rpms to use the ntfs partitions.
I'm on a work desktop and im just wondering what the chances are of data loss if i resize my paritions i have 2 NTFS 1 10GB and 1 64GB (Not sure why but thats how it is) I want to take 30GB from the 2nd partition and add onto the main 10GB. Is it only Gparted that has a chance of Data Loss or is that with all parition editors, its just that alot of NTFS windows progams indicate that there software is safe like this one for example url.
I configured DNS in my server while That time SELINUX enabled means It show permission denied error and some errors, but i checked all the directory permissions and all its every thing correct only but not worked..At last I just disabled the SELINUX then its working fine.I Heard SELINUX is for security for Linux operating systems, but why i disabled means only its working??
I tried ntfs and ntfs-3g but the result is the same I can mount root but I would like to be able to mount as a user. When I try to mount as a user I get
Code:
Unprivileged user can not mount NTFS block devices using the external FUSE library. Either mount the volume as root, or rebuild NTFS-3G with integrated FUSE support and make it setuid root. Please see more information at [URL] Before installing ntfs-3g I was able to mount as a user but there was no rw permission. Any way to mount an ntfs partition as a user without suid as the message said?
Trying to keep selinux enabled. When I start SeLinux Troubleshooter from the menu, which is inautostart as well, It tells me SELinux not enabled, sealert will not run on nonSELinus systems".How do I get SELinux permanently started then
I installed Nvidia drivers n my Fedora 14 and was working just fine!I also have disabled Nouveau to make it work. But after i changed the selinux to permissive my X no longer loads!
I decided that I'd torture myself and try to get a server up and running with SELinux fully enabled. I so far have figured out virtual hosting, vsftpd, and SSH to work with it nicely, but I can't figure out what to do to get AWstats to be viewable through a browser with SELinux enabled. This is what I get from /var/log/messages:
I have installed CentOS and Redhat5 on a LVM partition and selinux is enabled. Both OS's share the same /home partition with one user with the same login(gc) and same uid (1000). The problem I am having is that gc can login with all permissions etc on the OS that was installed first (CentOS). For the redhat OS gc can login but cannot write to the home directory (or startx since X needs to write to Xauthority)Here are outputs - 1st CentOS
Just installed 11.3 on my computer, however when I connect an external NTFS harddisk I receive an error message. When I open dolphin to connect to an internal NTFS partition I receive the message:
until recently, they did fstab mount quite happily, but now, they don't
the error I get is:
Code: Mountall mount /media/win7 [1089] terminated with status 21 My fstab has not changed but here it is: Code: /dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 vfat noauto 0 0 UUID=da252821-a30d-415b-84cb-adca92be5b72 / ext4 defaults 0 1

Oh if I make the windows drive the first avail, then it boots just fine.
I have Debian Squeeze installed. I have 3 different HDDs, one of them is SATA, the other 2 are IDE, on one of which I have the distro installed.
How do I mount the other 2 partitions? I see them in "Places" but when I click on them I get an error message "Unable to Mount <The name of the volume> Can not get volume.fstype.alternative".
I can see both volumes in /dev/ntfs. I tried doing
We have installed RHEL 5.4 on our servers and everything is running fine. Now I have gone through various server hardening checklist and most of them suggest to enable SELinux. We have several services running on Linux box. Now my question is, do we have to make any chagnes to the existing configurations if we enable SELinux. Or we just enable SELinux and leave it as it is. Because I have had prior experiences where SElinux will stop many services and restrict access to many libraries when enabled.
I have an Ubuntu 10.04 box that accesses NTFS drives along with ext4. Recently, I switched from ntfs-3g to Paragon NTFS driver, which is proprietary, but free of charge. It feels quite faster on my internal drives. Now I have a problem with external eSATA NTFS drive. When it is detected, I mount it via Nautilus GUI, but it gets mounted with the ntfs-3g driver. (It can be mounted via command line with the Paragon driver, but this is less convenient. How can I configure my system (is it Gnome or some system-wide configuration ?) to mount all NTFS drives with the Paragon driver?
I know nothing about linux. But my friend says linux is good. So, I kept a copy of fedora core 10 i386. My fiend has a lot of movies about 100 in his ipod. So, I took it. It contains lot of viruses and I opened the ipod in windows but my windows has malfunctioned due to the virus. So, I have installed the fedora core 10 i386. I have some important information in the windows ntfs partitions. How do i mount those ntfs partitions.
I have installed three flavors of linux on vmware 1.rhel5 2.centos 5.5 3.fedora 14 and also install centos 5.5 on a separate hard disk (not on vwware).
I want to mount my pen drive on linux which is ntfs. I have tried a lot on rhel5 only. Please tell whether it is possible mount ntfs on any distributions I have mentioned above? I have already installed fuse, fuse-devel, fuse libs, ntfs-3g, ntfs-3g libs on rhel5. But I still got error: "fatal : module fuse not found" "ntfs unknown file system"
I don't understand why after a successful installation of RHEL 5.3 in my PC (dual-boot with Windows XP x64), the hard disk just reads continously and my monitor.just went blackout. This happens (3x) everytime I setup it for the first time, re:detection of hardware, network, creation of a new user, etc. Although my GRUB is working perfectly.
I had windows vista on one partition, xp on another documents on another and programs on another. When I installed ubuntu on a new partition it very kindly let me see all the other partitions and mount them as necessary. I would like all my ubuntu files, documents music downloads to go right on to the documents partition so when I back up that drive to an external I have it backs up the documents drive it has all the files I have created in vista or ubuntu. Eventually I want to leave windows completely but I would still want to store all the ubuntu files on the documents drive.
I can go to "places" and mount the documents drive but what I would like to do is when I fire up ubuntu that the documents drive mounts automatically.
I cannot ssh into an RHEL 5.5 server (192.168.20.104) from another RHEL 5.5 server (192.168.20.101) unless server debug is turned on 192.168.20.104, and even then, I have to wait several minutes before the connection is established. scp to and from the 104 server is also not working. Here is the debug output on the 101 server when server debug is not enabled on the 104 server-:
Has anyone successfully kickstarted a rhel/fedora/centos over HTTPS ? In other words, is it possible to do the rhel/fedora/centos install from running apache with SSL enabled?
I have Red Hat Enterprise 5 and am trying to resize a partition. I am using the resize command within "parted" and am getting the following error - Error: File system has an incompatible feature enabled.
building a box with no other interface than tcp/ip. now in case something goes wrong when changing the /etc/network/interfaces via ftp and when rebooting the system cannot bring the interface up I would like to be able to detect it and replace the interfaces file with a default one stored on the system.
Mine is dual bootable system i686 (Visa and RHEL 5). I have important data on VISA which is NTFS. I would like to access the NTFS drives from Linux RHEL 5.

I've got a Desktop System that Automounted Two NTFS partitions in F10 so I could declare them SAMBA Shares and have my other XP and Vista Machine Access them whether my dual boot machine ran XP or F10. Now I've switched to F11 and cannot get the NTFS Partitions to Automount at boot. If I browse with COMPUTER and let the system mount the NTFS partitions once it is running the mount command returns the following output:

I believe I need to modify /etc/fstab but cannot get the syntax correct to save my life.
