View 3 RepliesI find problem when run MPICH2 (also Openmpi) on the newest issue of centos-5.6 prerevious I tried MPICH2 on Centos 4, there is no such problem. My procedure is as follows: I built a Bewolf Cluster between 6 nodes of our serve (HP
Proliant G460 G7), and installed the MPICH2 on one node (assuming at /mirror), ./configure --prefix=/mirror/mpich CC=icc CXX=icpc F77=ifort FC=ifort make 2>&1 make install 2>&1
using NFS, the directory of /mirror was successfully exported to the rest of 5 nodes. Now as I test the mpirun, it runs very well on a single node, however it hangs across multiple nodes. Also I have built the passphraseless ssh-keys connection between each other. Now the problem is that even I use the mpd, boot the nodes(those nodes are in the list, and there is no warning during the booting), however when I run the mpirun, whatever how much n (-n X)I set, all the process will be run at the local nodes. I am not sure what are blocking the data exchange between the nodes, by the way, I have set the iptables to accept then data.
I am taking a parallel computing course at school and will be required to write programs using MPI soon. All of the school servers have Lam/MPI installed on them but I can only find OpenMPI slackbuild scripts. If I install OpenMPI on my computer and do my development on my own machine, will I have much trouble when it's compiled/run on the school servers?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhile installing openmpi it is requried to mount using following command:mount nfs yourmachineIP /mnt/nfs but executing this command gives following error: mount: directory to mount not in host:dir format although i m able to mount a folder using mount t nfs yourmachineIP:/dir /mnt/nfs where /dir is specified in /etc/exports. Is it possible 2 mount only using IP? in that case what should be mentioned in /etc/exports?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get OpenMPI (a parallel programming library) working on my home system. I have just two machines on it now, t61 and quad, connected through a router. (Which is also connected to cable modem for internet.) I can ssh between the machnes, mount directories with NFS, etc. However, I just can't get the OpenMPI to run. The OpenMPI message board suggested that the most probable cause is that the firewall is blocking TCP. I don't know how to tell if that's the problem, and can't find any manual for the SuSE firewall, while the various Wikis &c that pop up in a search don't provide any information that addresses my problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've installed openMPI-1.4.1 on my laptop and I'm trying to compile some fortran code I've written using MPI. I downloaded the openMPI-1.4.1 file from the openMPI website and used the shell script they provide to install it. This is the shell script:
shell$ cd openmpi-1.4.1
shell$ ./configure --prefix=/usr/local
shell$ make all install
There was an additional line extracting the tar file, but I did this by hand. The first time I ran this script there was an error on the final stage saying that a directory couldn't be created because of lack of permission. I decided to run the script again this time as a sudo.
Having run the script again everything appeared to install properly, however when I went to compile some fairly simple code I got a message saying that the compiler couldn't find MPI. I was using this command: gfortran messages.f90 -o messages I looked on the openMPI website where it recommends compiling with a compiler called mpif. However when I type mpif messages.f90 -o messages I get an error message saying mpif isn't a recognized command......

I am a newbie but have great expectations. I have installed Debian 6 within Virtualbox and want to install nagios3.2.3. View 2 Replies View RelatedI plan to install a debian in dualboot with ubuntu (that I'm currently using). I would like to use the btrfs file system.
I know that for a single OS installed, I need to have a /boot partition (I don't think grub is able to load a btrfs partition). In my case the grub (v1.98) would stay on the ubuntu partition, not the debian one. So do I still need to have a different partition for /boot and the system ?

I am on Debian/Tor/Vidalia environment and I am thoroughly confused as to what the Apt-get engine does. To put it simply, I landed on Debian because I heard that Torrent-downloading stuff via an external application such as U Torrents does no longer guarantee anonymity, even with a Tor proxy server. So I got into the Amnesia CD stuff, after burning the ISO image on CD. I was hoping then to be able to install U Torrents on Debian and carry out the U Torrents downloads from within the Debian shield.
I did download U Torrents but I was unable to install it from the .exe file. Then I heard that programs can be installed in Debian only via a special APT-get engine. My understanding was that by running the" APT-get" engine in the CMD( Terminal) screen, I'd be able to access the softwares I wanted to install, such as U Torrents..
Unfortunately, when I run the " Apt-get" engine with the script " Apt-get Install + software name, " I get a " no packages found" answer. I searched for Bit Torrents, Azureus, U Torrents and a host of other common softwares, to no avail.. None is there. I even got to the APT-get.org site. THere I did find hundreds of repositories and packages , but I haven't the slightest clue as to what they contain. This database is not searchable by software name, so I don't know if and where my software is there.
I have tried many times to load Debian on a new HD without any success. I used bittorrent to download it to my windows vista laptop and preceded to burn the image to a cd using Active@isoburner. But it only gets to where it says boot failure.

I have a dedicated PC with Debian Linux and now wish to install Oracle 11gR2. All the required changes and settings were made as per Oracle Pre-Install.
When I start the installer it errors out almost immediately due to a display problem as it it verifying if the display can accommodate 256 colours. The /etc/hosts file has a setting: 127.0.0.1 localhost so I set the DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
But it fails, why?

The Kernel is 2.6.35.
I was triyng to install Debian on a AMD K6-2. I use debootstrap, and installed Lenny, with a kernel linux-image-2.6.26-2-486.
After that apt-get update and apt-get upgrade and I get:
The following packages will be upgraded:
Since release 150, udev requires that support for the CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED feature is disabled in the running kernel.
Please upgrade your kernel before or while upgrading udev.
AT YOUR OWN RISK, you can force the installation of this version of udev WHICH DOES NOT WORK WITH YOUR RUNNING KERNEL AND WILL BREAK YOUR SYSTEM AT THE NEXT REBOOT by creating the /etc/udev/kernel-upgrade file. There is always a safer way to upgrade, do not try this unless you 0understand what you are doing!

View 1 Replies View Related1. I'm trying out ratpoison (a windows manager). It's cool, but a few commands weren't working - I now think that it's because Debian delivered ratpoison 1.4.3 (Feb 2008), while development has issued two more releases (the latest being 1.4.5). Should I (or should I not) install the later release?

I am having a problem installing a game that is a .bin file. I have looked through various forums, and on Google, but can only find how to install .exe through emulation, open .zip, and other formats. I am using Dreamlinux Xfce desktop (Which to my understanding is Debian based). I pretty much have to face the fact can't figure out s**t on here.
I have tried running it from the terminal in these ways:
And some command I came across- $ Chmod (there was more to this command line but I forget it, found it on google, it ends with: +1 run)
I don't really grasp alot of the commands (I can look up DIR, run files, ya know ... simple stuff) and have spent most of the time just setting my OS to work, and this .bin is my first shot at an install...
