Jun 23, 2010If I have only 1 physical WLAN interface, is there some hackery that can be done so that it can be a client of an existing access point and at the same time also act as an access point for other clients? I have an existing 802.11g ADSL router, and I'm going to be building an HTPC which will have 802.11n. My laptop also has 802.11n, but at the moment it only connects at 54Mbps because thats what the AP supports. I'd like to be able to have the HTPC be a client of my ADSL router, but have my laptop be a client of the HTPC, so copying files to it will be faster.

Nov 29, 2010I have two ISP Connections from different Providers BSNL and Sify. Both are 1MBps. In my Office Now we are using Sify for Only one Machine and BSNL is configured in wifi router. But Often BSNL network is in problem. So we have planned to use both Sify and BSNL simultaneously. what we have to do is to Make some arrangements either in cabling or in configuring we have to use both the connections simultaneously. without hassle so that the employees will always be on-line. and they may not know in which ISP they are browsing. But the internet should be available always.
We have two servers which has running Redhat 5.5 with two Onboard Ethernet card so totally Four Ethernet cards. And we are using Only linux such as fedora, ubuntu and CentOS in our Office and not windows. And all are connecting to internet by wireless. So please give some ideas to use any linux machine as router or something else that would balance the two ISPs equally, that is if one ISP is down then the other should take up automatically without doing any manual configuration and without buying any proprietary software or any hardware.

Apr 28, 2010I want to build deb packages for two versions of same product that can be installed on the machine simultaneously. The source folder structure for both the packages have a common folder needed by both the versions. So i need to keep the common folder till both the versions are removed from the machine.My problem is that i can't install both the versions at the same time, i.e i have to uninstall the installed version and then install the other version. After installing one version, if i try to install another version, an overwrite error comes up. is there any option in dpkg for overwrite? Or is there any way to partially uninstall a deb package?

Aug 4, 2010I am in a VMware environment, and using RHEL 5.4. I am trying to setup a PXE Kickstart installation. For this I have configured DHCP and TFTP, made a kickstart file and shared it in the network through HTTP. My problem is that somehow kickstart file (ks.cfg) is not picked by the machine in which I am installing the OS. Although, the contents of my kickstart file can be viewed over HTTP. Please see KS_Error.jpg.

However, I believe DHCP and TFTP is working fine as I am getting the correct IP 192.168.1.115 which I have set in /etc/dhcpd.conf. Also, my label 1 which I have set in /tftpboot/linux-install/pxelinux.cfg/default is working fine as I able to locate initrd and vmlinuz. Please see attached Image_1.jpg how to troubleshoot this. I need to paste any of my configuration files?.

I have a few questions about this: Do I have to update Kubuntu when I update Ubuntu in October, or will it update on its own? Does running Kubuntu simultaneously on an Ubuntu machine cause any issues (slower performance, conflict in programs, etc.)? How do I uninstall Kubuntu if I decide that Ubuntu works just fine for me?

Mar 20, 2011I have a working Centos 5.4 (== Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4) kickstart installation working with pxe boot.I am now trying to do the same kickstart installation but from a SCSI harddrive on the hardware box itself.In other words, the system already has an older distribution on it, and it has a formatted LVM partition with free space. I expect to upload an initrd, vmlinux, ks.cfg at the top of this partition, edit the grub.conf with something like so:

Can you no longer do HDD installs from a ISO?I whipped out my old kickstart files and worked off of them and all seams to be OK but every time it says it is unable to find the install source.Here are the first two lines of my KS file:

Apr 6, 2010Can an unattended Kickstart support both IDE (hda) and SCSI (sda)? The goal is to to create a new virtual machine from scratch. What I have works for Parallels in which a new VM defaults to emulate an IDE hard disk. It does not work for VMware Workstation which defaults to emulate a SCSI disk.

General :: Two Networks Cannot Be Accessed Simultaneously
Mar 14, 2011I have two networks on a server. One being my internal network, and the other being an external IP address. This is on Debian Lenny. Here is my /etc/network/interfaces file:
I can reboot my system and sometimes eth1 is accessible from SSH, and other times eth0 is accessible. Then sometimes eth1 will just stop being pingable alltogether. This is a fairly fresh install of Debian, and the only thing I have running is VMWare Server 2.0, bridged to both of my network connections.

1) Creating a local repo
2) Using kickstart to access that repo
3) Performing a network install using kickstart
Some background: I have several racks of servers that I need to install Fedora on. These servers CANNOT be placed on the internet; hence the need for the creation of a local repo on some other machine (which will be connected to the servers via a local network). I am not sure how to create a local repo, so that one of my questions.
I'd also like to automate as much of the install as possible and kickstart is the only thing I know of for that. I am no guru with kickstart, but I have used it before to successfully install Fedora Core 6 -- I am hoping there are no great changes with the current releases of Fedora (12-14)?
A local repo of Fedora Core 6 was created by someone (some time ago) on a workstation (running FC6). This is what I've used in the past to install FC6 on previous servers (via a kickstart CD). However, I dont have the documentation on how the repo was created or how the kickstart CD was created I've gleaned some ideas ok kickstart from the pieces I've read on web, but none of it has been specific to the latest releases of Fedora.

Feb 23, 2010As the title says, I'm building a kickstart for a RedHat installation.I'm trying to incorporate the firegl driver rpm installation and its halfway working, not completly. What I've tried so far is to place the rpm in the --nochroot and in the normal chroot enviornment and neither one works. In the --nochroot, install it with rpm --root /mnt/sysimage/ and in the normal post i just do an rpm -ivh. In either case the fglrx folder is built within /lib/modules, however everything thats supposed to be installed never makes it to the newly installed root. I'm thinking that its actually getting installed to the installation / as opposed to the new /.
