General :: Can't Find Second Hard Drive On Antix?
May 10, 2010I have two hard drives in my computer. I always use two, one for my software and the other for files. This is my first real try at using a linux os. I installed antix in this computer, its an older dual pentuim 2 with 2 400mhz processors and 728mb ram. Install went well and there is no other os on this machine. But I can't find my second hardrive, it shows on boot up but I can't find it any where in antix

Mar 16, 2010My parents bought a new hard drive for a laptop that I've owned for several years. It's much larger than the current one, so I plan on splitting it up to dual boot it with Ubuntu.I have no problem with partitioning a drive (I always keep a LiveCD handy), but my question is this: how can I go about moving the existing partition to the new drive? This is a laptop, so I can't simply plug the new drive into another slot.
Also, even if I manage to move it, will Windows still work on the new drive in a larger partition? I've had this laptop for quite a while, and I've lost the recovery discs that came with it a long time ago. I also have a lot of software without CDs to reinstall them with. This makes not reinstalling Windows a high priority.

Feb 24, 2010I've been having some trouble getting my two external USB hard drives to mount on boot. They are not recognized by lsusb after a boot, but after they are power cycled or unplugged & replugged they will show up in lsusb and mount. One odd thing I noticed was that when one of the drives was moved to a different port before booting it would be recognized for that boot onlyI have tried adding usb_storage to /etc/modules and doing a update-initramfs to my kernel (2.6.31-14) to no avail.
Since I started having this problem, I have reinstalled ubuntu on a different internal drive, and this did not fix it.I'm not sure if this matters, but the UUIDs of the two drives are identical. I would try reformatting one of them but its quite inconvenient. My /etc/fstab is set up to mount them using their labels (ex1 and ex2) rather than the UUID, and I can mount them both at the same time

However, this process (recoverjpeg) continues to find pictures and dump them into my hard drive. I am fighting an uphill battle. Is there a way to stop a program from running continuously? I removed the package, but it continues to find files on my computer and put them into my hard drive, which is a problem.

The drive and disk said I didn't have enough memory open to install (I have 160GB open)upon looking around in the demo, i noticed that it couldn't find my hard drive as it wasn't on the drive explorer. So i searched for answers and found a few possible ones but i wanted to find someone with my exact problem--Couldn't find any. So then I came upon the Windows Installer and Tried it out. All went well until i had to reboot, it said it couldn't find the installation.iso (which is indeed on my computer) and that i should run "Chkdsk /r" and i did. Nothing changed. I still believe that Ubuntu can't see my hard drive when windows can, why is this? Is there a way to fix it? EDIT: How could I forget to mention I'm on Windows 7?

It can't find the Hard drive which is on the chipset's SATA controller.However, I can install 9.04 just fine. Apr 10, 2011I'm trying to get my work's infrastructure built at home before I go up there and show the boss. It is as follows: VMware esxi installed on the server with:
Windows server 2008
Ubuntu 10.04 server
I've got VMware installed. And I have spent the past 7 hours trying to figure out how to manage it. I found out that vsphere has not nor will ever be supported for Linux; which was my first problem.
Second Problem So I had to dig around for a spare Windows 7 dvd. To my UN-surprise it blue screened before it even got to the Windows installer.
Third Problem So I dug around for my Windows XP disc. Wouldn't find my sata hard drive and I wasn't about to dig around for a floppy drive and disk, in order to install it.
Fourth Problem I remembered that I had a dual boot of Windows 7 downstairs and proceeded to download and install vsphere. It wouldn't install because of some updates that needed to be installed. I installed them and got vsphere installed as well. However upon connecting to my vmware esxi, there was yet another error that had to do with some update. I found out that the error had been existent since 2009 and for some reason NO ONE at VMware has fixed it....
General :: Hard Drive Malfunctions When Other Hard Drives Are Connected?
Aug 23, 2010I have a SATA drive that worked fine. Then I installed two more hard drives into my system. When these hard drives are installed, if I try to access the SATA drive in Linux, it will start lightly clicking and then the drive will become unavailable. If I power on the machine without the other two hard drives then it works fine. What could be causing this to happen? I don't think it's heat because the two hard drives are far away from the SATA drive.

May 1, 2010Trying to install Fedora 12 using the 6 CDs. Trying to install on an older x86 box.Problem is that when detecting my hard drive, Fedora 12 recognizes it as a sda hard drive instead of hda hard drive. I have no SCSI connected to my computer what so ever. It's an old fashion PATA Western Digital hard drive.If I proceed with the install, Fedora 12 only installs 200MB of the OS from the first CD only. No options for additional software or anything.
