I switched over to Linux from Windows, but now when I try to play Zynga poker it doesn't work right. I can only play there if I run Windows in a Virtual Machine and play from there, but it's kind of slow. I read somewhere that people were able to solve this problem by installing the SeaMonkey browser in their system. I tried that but it doesn't work either. Flash is already installed.
View 1 RepliesI've been looking around for hours for a fix for this. Installing the Winner Poker client works out just fine through Wine. It's really slow though, and takes time for the installation windows to pop up and stuff. But it's working. But when I press the account creation thing, it just fails loading. I get a pop up inside the poker software, saying the page could not be loaded. It's a IE page. Same thing happens with the Nordicbet poker client, but I could register my account on the website through their browser version there. They havn't got that option at Winner.
So, anyway, I tried going to the wine appdb looking for some kind of guide, but there wasn't any. But there were a few guides for other IPoker clients. So, since Winner is powered by IPoker I looked through a few of them. And at the Titan Poker one they said that I needed ies4linux. So I tried that but it crashed, probably due to being really old. So I tried the same with winetricks, but with no good result. I probably even had it before since an actual IE site popped up during my account registraion.
So, basically, my question is: How do I get my poker client to successfully interract with the IE installation? And has anyone had this problem before and managed to solve it? (I'm sure I'm not the first one, since I've found people with this problem during my countless searches, just havn't found a fix that is working for me yet.)

Quicktime plays fine with Firefox but I can't get QT to play with Opera 10.10. Opera says it needs plug-in content.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the minimum computer spec for playing 1080p flash files via a web browser smoothly at least 25fps? We all know that flash is not very good on Linux. On my old computer, I can play 720p flash files in the browser at arount 25fps on Windows, but on Ubuntu on the same computer via dual OS installation, it struggles to play 420p flash files in the browser. So basically, I want to build a new computer and have Ubuntu as the only OS, but this computer needs to be able to play 1080p flash files via the browser (not by downloading and converting them), but straight from the browser smoothly. Is this possible and what would the minimum computer spec need to be to achieve this?

After installing an external sound card, Im having some weird issues. The cards chipset is fully supported by suse, (CM8738) so I dont think thats the problem. Besides, I'm getting sound, but not in some applications. The system's sounds work just fine (login, logout themes) amarok plays without any problems, kaffeine, mplayer they all work flawlessly, in fact I can see the difference in quality between the onboard sound and my new card. However, no web browser is able to play any sound at all, firefox, opera or chrome, nothing,zip. Plus, vlc cant reproduce sound either, nor can smplayer.
I've tried switching channels on and off(muting)in kmixer and in alsamixer, on the console, with no results. I disabled the onboard audio on the bios before installing the new card, however my ati video card has integrated sound, which I cant disable.... I used to get this exact same problem randomly with the onboard sound, but I just had to go to kmixer and turn up the "pcm" channel volume, which was set to 0, and I had sound again on my browser. However this card's pcm channel is at max and turning it up or down affects the whole systems volume, not just the browser's. Is it better to just reinstall the sound system, if so how could I do that.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi just updated from karmic 9.10 to lucid 10.04 using the online upgrade option. so far everything is working great. the only issues i am having seem to involve firefox. when i visit videos i get the message "your browser is no longer supported. please upgrade to a modern browser." i am running 3.6 "canonical" so it is "modern". i am able to watch videos after i close the message. it's just an annoyance to get this message every time i view a video.
next, is on some websites (like this one) it will not supply my login info. but on a few sites (like ebay) it does supply my login info. not sure why some sites work while others don't. the info is there when i look under my saved passwords....
I'm surfing along just fine when I select some link in my browser.The status line reports "... waiting for ..." and the browser seems to stall for a long time (minutes). Often, but not every time, I can select the STOP toolbar icon and reload the page. This time things work normally.

Watching the running system with 'htop' and similar, I do not see where some other application or service is sucking all of the available CPU time or such. Basically the problem is, I can't play store bought DVDs, but I can play my copies of them.
When using MDPlayer that I added to Ubuntu, I can play the copies of my store bought DVDs, but not the originals. However, when using Ubuntu 9.10's movie player, it wont do anything and I'll have to do a force quit to close it.
I learned that this may because there is a repository of packages that cannot be included into the Ubuntu distribution, as I'm sure you already knew.

Running the Terminal, I added the bash command that adds Medibuntu's repositiry to Ubuntu. It also adds Medibuntu's GPG key to the keyring.

Then I jumped down to the... "This command should be run in the Terminal, after adding the repository:" ...And did that. (sudo sed -e 's/ etc etc etc /medibuntu.list)
i just installed 10.10 on my girls laptop (Acer Aspire 5735z) hoping it would fix the old problem i had with playing real dvd's. it didnt. it keeps saying "Could not read from Resource". when i try with VLC is say "Could not read from file". but if i put in a burned movie, it plays fine. i checked and it has libdvdcss2, libdvdnav4, and libdvdread4 installed. i get the same problems with my laptop (toshiba portege m400 tablet) which runs fedora 13.

I think it was recorded by some ancient VLC player. I failed so far to play it on anything I could download.

I've rebooted, tried all sorts of tinkering, it loads the applet (I can see that Flash is loading OK because other things work, and right clicking on the applet gives the Flash menu)
However, clicking the play button does nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem on a few flash games (a couple of EA's sports management games on Facebook, and the Pokemon Dream World.) When I first use them everything's fine, but as I continue coming back to them, they seem to run a little slower each time. Ultimately in the case of the former two it got so bad that they were unusual.
Why is this happening? If they were slow from the start I could understood, but what could be making them go wrong on repeated plays?
I'm on 32 bit Kubuntu Lucid, firefox is my browser, and it's the official flash plugin.
when i try to play a video, from internet it is showing the message 'Either javascript turned off or download and install latest adobe flash player'. But eventhough I downloaded and installed adobe flash player I am unable to play any video and still it is giving the above message. what is the reason?

a week ago, i updated my computer from ubuntu 8.04 to 10.04, and since then, no sound plays from any browsers (i've tried firefox, which has been my main browser for years, and epiphany web browser, which seems to be the linux equivalent to internet explorer). i'm still able to play videos videos, but i get no sound from them. however, mp3's, skype, and audacity all work just fine; i just can't get any sound from my browser.

Can ping both hostnames and IP address successfully but when trying to connect via browser or IRC, nothing happens (using name and IP). Ran netconfig and selected DHCP. Checked IP properties for VM-8 on Host OS and everything appears in order, and I have same IP address in the Guest OS. Can ping from Guest to Host and Host to Guest. Previously worked with XP as Host OS and I have a Windows 7 32bit VM which connects successfully.
I tried changing the memory browsing size in firefox which seemed to help a little but the browser became slow again.
How to speed up this system here are some specs:

My PC Internet runs through a DDWRT flashed wireless G router set on repeater mode which allows me to connect to the router in my basement to broadband.
when I try to play music on amarok it just won't play, it just loads lyrics and then, nothing. on rytmbox everthing works fine but amarok don't work.
