The card uses a momentary switch to turn on at and off and it doesn't work. I read that there is a way to have the card turn on by default on boot but I can't figure out how to do it.
View 1 RepliesAfter some serious trouble with Plasma, I decided to re-install 9.10. When booting up, I noticed that the wireless indicator light stayed on orange which usually means that the driver is not loaded.
I have a Broadcom 4312 in a HP Pavilion dv6. I checked the repository but no driver shows up. I seem to remember that it used to be there. Or am I mistaken and do I need to install the vendor driver from the Broadcom site?

How do you enable repos? Namely RPMFusion set? I have 2 repo's that are currently in stalled:

I'm trying to get my Broadcom 4312 working again since FC10. I noticed that RPMFusion isn't listed. This would answer why I can not install Broadcom -wl.
I've been having some trouble with my recently bought laptop.

The system freezes randomly and all I can do is to push the power button and force-turn it off.
I'm not sure, but I think it's the wireless. It's my second Fedora install on this machine, and the second was all right until I set the wireless drivers (or I had luck to have no stops).
I have an HP 2133 Mini-Note [KX869AT] with a Broadcom 4312 wireless card. I've had Ubuntu 10.04 on my machine for a few weeks now and everything was great until my wireless card abruptly stopped working. It doesn't detect any wireless networks,uch less connect to them. I tried reinstalling the proprietary driver, but that hasn't worked.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first had partitioned, and formatted appropriately, I installed the newest version of Ubuntu available (Time of posting 10.4), on the partition made with bootcamp, rebooted into Linux with rEFIt Now once I booted into 10.4 I got to the desktop, it started asking me about restricted hardware drivers, so I went into System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, It then searched for the drivers, it found the STA driver, and the B43 driver, I am unable to allow both. So I went on to try ndiswrapper, I downloaded it off another pc, compiled and installed on the iMac. then I got the driver off the Leopard install disk, put that on my flash drive, extracted the files from the installer, put that on the flash drive, then I went back over to the machine in question, copied the file to the desktop, I used the cd command to navigate to the folder, then ran ndiswrapper -i bmcwl6.inf, I made sure that the inf and sys files were in there, so I didn't know what was going on exactly.
So then I went into the software sources, and enabled the cd as a software source, then went into Synaptic, and installed the drivers, it said the install was successful, however when I go back to enable it, will still refuse to activate, I have looked all around for solutions, I have even checked out other threads on this matter. The funny thing seems to be, is that everyone, or almost everyone who has this card on their computer, are upgrading to 10.04, when it worked on a previous version.
Well I see there is a lot of people which have problems with BCM4312 I read that topics but my problem kind of different..I installed 11.3 few day ago at my job. Everything was just fine...First of all I'm installed firmware

I've already got the b43-fwcutter package and a driver called 'b43' appears in System > Administration > Hardware Drivers but it does not seem to enable. Another, Broadcom STA wireless driver, does enable, but I'm not picking up the wireless signal.

Here's what I have:
emachines e725 laptop, dual core T4400 Pentium, 64bit, running Windows 7 and just installed Ubuntu 10.04.
My ethernet port works for cat internet but wireless does not. My wireless appears but when I open browser no connection.

i just got ubuntu yesterday and had to play around with some settings and the fw-cutter tool to get my wireless working and it was...although i upgraded the kernel to 2.6.32-25-eneric...and it stopped working. the simple solution is to use the previous kernelersion...the wireless works there, but thats just not good enough for me ... it recognizes my card is there it just wont connect. originally i was using b43 driver and now it does not show in the system>hardware drivers list only the sta driver does, although when i try to install and activate it i get the error message "sorry, installation of this driver failed.please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log"

The Broadcom4312 Wireless Card is not working on Obunto. It has a Dell 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini card installed and Obunto Edition Version 8.04 Have phoned Dell and after several calls on Hold for over 15 mins each time and getting nowhere fast i am coming to you guys/girls. I am not a very good comp person, but i do get by and i am trying, so be gentle with me. in simplistic terms.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just put 10.10 on my D830 and I love it except for a delay when I'm using the internet. When I click on a link while surfing the web it takes about 13 seconds before it responds. After that it works just fine.
My Windows 7 PC and my Macbook Pro don't do that so I'm guessing it has something to do with Ubuntu.
after finally installing 11.3, I found that my wireless NIC had stopped working. I've spent about 4 hours trying various online tutorials to get the card working, but I'm still right where I was when I began. The card as reported by lspci:

I have installed CentOS 5 just downloaded yesterday on a Dell D620. Everything but the wireless card works. So I found this article:

and followed it step by step and was able to complete all of the tasks. The problem is that obviously it still won't start. It is not even recognized as an adapter but when I run lspci -v it is there sure enough. When I look under the networking GUI it is listed there but it has no MAC assigned to it. Please let me know what command output you need to see and I'll get here asap. I have searched this forum and other sites and nothing so far has worked.
Im having problems making my wireless card "Broadcom 4312" work on centos 5.4 X64 , i have installed and built the driver from their official site and inserted its module successfully, but whenever i try to avtivate the interface "called eth1" i get the following

Just recieved an HP 5103 that has a BCM4313 14e4 4727 wireless card. I had a heck of time finding a driver but finally did and installed it. This is on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10.
However, it seems I have to load the driver everytime and can't get it to load during boot.
I am drowning in Broadcom over here. Fedora 15 with Broadcom 4313 wireless inop. I believe that I have made every attempt to get this Broadcom 4313 off and flying that is posted on this, and many other, forums. I had the wireless working on this laptop yesterday when I made an error with a NVIDIA driver that caused me to be unable to boot. I updated/reinstalled the kernel and the fun began. Here is where things are at. note the broadcom version fc13? No idea why that would be 13.

About 6 months ago or so, I got a new 802.11ac card for my laptop:

This one uses the broadcom-sta-dkms binary driver in module wl. Everything was working fine until a few days ago. I booted up the laptop following a power failure and the network was acting very strange. Upon connection to the network, I had network access for a brief period, then it went away. Network manager claimed to still be connected. The access point thought I was connected as well. No packets were getting through. After many cycles of trial and error, I found that upon each network connection (different network, same network, didn't matter) I could ping the router for about 30 - 45 seconds.
After that, my pings went unanswered. Using wireshark in monitor/promiscuous mode, I found that I was indeed not seeing any replies and no machine on the network was responding to my ARP requests. Inspecting the ARP cache before and after, I see the mac address of the router as usual up until a couple of minutes after the pings stop coming back. I am also seeing wireless activity from other machines on the network, but I think it was only broadcast activity I was seeing. This behavior didn't change with signal strength either. I saw the same behavior when I was 3 feet from the router as when I was 50 feet from the router. Wireshark didn't show any other activity that looked out of place to me.
I did find a work around. If I purge the broadcom-sta-dkms package (apt-get purge broadcom*), reboot (haven't checked if unloading the wl module is sufficient), install the broadcom-sta-dkms package, and manually load the wl module, everything works as expected. I'm not sure why the driver won't survive the reboot. I have had to do this each time I boot my laptop for the last few days. I'm not sure what might have changed as before that power failure I think I had a couple of weeks uptime and I do updates at least weekly. I think I remember seeing an update to the kernel come through at one point recently. I tried reverting to the previous kernel version but that didn't seem to do the trick.

I got a new laptop and installed Fedora 11, but I can't get the wireless working. I run lspci, it shows "Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)", so I believe the wireless card is there.I went over the thread URL... which explains in detail how to get BCM4312 working. I installed the b43 driver and the reboot. However, when I left click the NetworkManager, the only thing pops up is "Wired Network", "system eth0" and "VPN configurations". Nothing about "wireless" in there. Does this mean that the wireless driver is not installed at all? And the Network Configuration only has eth0 device.
I then tried to install broadcom-wl, but it complains there is conflict between b43 and broadcom-wl.I also tried to install the driver from autoten, it fails also.

At this point, I have installed the STA driver for the device, though I have also tried with B43 (fwcutter). I have also tried with ndiswrapper with windows driver. All these cases, the end effect is the same.
I can see "Wi-fi" LED light up. When I bring up the KDE control module for networks, "Wireless" is disabled. However, when I right-click on the network manager icon on the taskbar, I see "Enable Wireless" checked on.
I am wondering if in the process of installing the ndiswrapprer drivers, I am messed up something?
I am attempting to iron out a detail that has been bugging me a long time.Does the procedure of providing the firmware during install actually work? Note: I am NOT asking how to install the firmware POST install. What I have done to attempt to resolve:
1. Searched forums with no luck on this specific question.
2. Google was likewise uninformative.
Steps performed:During the wheezy install, from cd (cd1 testing amd64, appx 680MB), it prompts for firmware, which it identifies as ucode15.fw. (This is only part of the file name, as I did not write the entire bit down during the install.)
I recently switched from 10.04.1 Ubuntu that I had for only about a week, to Ubuntu 10.10 Beta. I switched because I heard that 10.10 comes with firmware right out of the box for BCM4312. I am new with Linux, and Ubuntu, but I do know what some of the commands do and etc. I got 10.10 installed, but the wireless options say "Not connected|Firmware Missing" What do I need to activate the firmware, or install it?

A stupid 'friend' formatted my laptop and now I am without wireless again. I found the old thread that helped me set up the wireless last time but I just can't follow it. I believe it was bcmwl-kernal-source driver I needed. There was some mention on the thread of other distros having the broadcom driver I needed as default, does anyone know which ones?
