General :: Ram Showing Critical Status - Only Few Kb Are Free

I am using nagios to monitor vm in blade servers, everything is working fine. The ram size of the vm is 4 gb and whenever the machine starts, the status of ram is critical as showing only few kb are free.
I set the critical limit as 5% and it comes as 3% and showing as critical. when i give top, i got it as
As shown in the % mem , the total memory used is of about 23% only whereas it shows used memory about 3.7 gb.

I have 160gb laptop. i installed vista in c primary partition which is 25gb and installed ubuntu in d primary partition which is 20gb. A remainig for my data. Now i tried to install CENT OS by formatting ubuntu. I inserted CENT OS DVD and restarted and i selected to delete my /dev/sda2 which is showing 20480mb and it shown me free space. but i tried to add partion /boot of 100mb it got added. but, when i am trying to add / of 3000mb in the remaining 20380mb free space it showing an error message that no free space is available.

I am running Fedora release 14 (Laughlin) and my Vim version is 'VIM - Vi IMproved 7.3 (2010 Aug 15, compiled Nov 16 2010 17:05:33)'. I've been trying for quite some time to get a more informative status line in my Vim window but to no avail. I am pasting my very last effort which is as simple as possible. Here is my .vimrc file:

I am running 64bit 10.04 on my Dell Latitude D620 with a BCM4328. The hardware drivers are working and I can connect to my wireless network but...The annoyance is the wireless icon in the task bar does not show a connected status. Instead I get a grayed out icon with a red exclamation point over it. I am connected though.

I have red hat linux server and it has mysql installed whenever i write on terminal command mysql -u root it shows error "ERROR 2002 (HY000): can't connect to local MYSQL server through '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock (111) "
And another problem is that it is showing 0 byte free space istaed of freeing the space. it may seems that both problems are dependent on each other.

I deleted by accident a folder containing a VMware server virtual machine, that contains most critical information. The host OS is CentOS 5.5, which I believe by default uses Ext3.I shut down the PC intermediately after noticing this.Is there any chance of recovering the files? Would they be able to mount to the same or another virtual machine?I need to get this information somehow, there are no backups.

I have two questions.
1- The vfstpd is running on the Centos server. The server is in the same home network. The SeLinux and firewall are disabled. I can use Filzilla from a Windows PC from another computer and connect and see directory listing. There is a user names adminftp and he is a memeber of root group. When I try to upload or download I get an ftp critical error message.
2- How can I install Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave on this Linux box?

I think that Centros is closely connected to Red Hat, right?And, I have heard that if you are going to go for a non-free linux system for your business, Red Hat is rated # 1 followed by OpenSuse.So, if you are going for a free linux system, is it best to go with Centros, or, is Slackware good enough?

When I try to connect a projector to my laptop (already running) and hit the fn+f7 (the designated button for switching screen), nothing happens. I see "no source found" on projector screen and my laptop screen works perfectly. Now if I restart the laptop with the projector connected, I see all the intial booting messages on the projector screen (not on my laptop), then the gnome login screen appears on both the projector screen and laptop (when the login screen appears on laptop it looks like it has lower resolution than my usual laptop resolution). But immediately after I log in, my laptop screen goes blank, and projector screen becomes the only active screen.
If I restart without the projector, again all normal operation on laptop screen is restored.
I feel like I am missing some very silly options. Any help is appreciated.

I have just upgraded to Lucid on Ubuntu. I am a long time Pidgin user. I tried using Empathy with Gwibber, but I can't get Gwibber to update my IM status(es) in Empathy, so I want to go back to using Pidgin. (Additionally, I can't get Skype to work with Empathy.)I installed pidgin-microblog and pidgin-mbpurple, and they allow me to view my Twitter feed in Pidgin and update my Twitter status in Pidgin. However, in Karmic, I was also able to specify certain "status availabilities" (one named "Twitter-Available" and one named "Twitter-Away", for instance) to have the IM status message for these statuses become populated with my Twitter feed. This capability seems missing in pidgin-mbpurple in Lucid (and it seems to be the only thing missing from Karmic).
Is there a way to have pidgin-mbpurple update certain "status availabilities" in Lucid (and I'm just missing something) or is this no longer possible?Equivalently, is it possible to have Gwibber update my status message in Empathy? (I just want to be able to update my status once on one of my three computers - and have it propagate to all my other accounts (IM and social networking) and computers).

During playing around sources, synaptic playing I messed up the default list. I know I should have been more careful. Anyways could someone tell me what the default the default sources.list that has free and non free etc for squueze please? I have been trying to get the default list but I cannot find it anywhere. I've got a question on free disk space. I'm currently running CentOS 5.5 on in Xenserver virtual environment. We've had an issue with disk space. My question is as follows: - from a ssh connection i run df -h this gives the value of 90% used leaving me with 9GB. If I use system monitor via a VNC connection the free disk space value is 20GB free on the same volume. Which one is correct? I do use SNMP to monitor the same volume and should alert me when < 10% is free I know this works as I set the alert threshold to < 90% I get an alert.

After a fresh installation of Ubuntu 10.10 I uninstalled empathy (im using skype). The empathy menu in the evolution indicator was gone after that.I also uninstalled gwibber. But the gwibber status indicator remains within the about-me panel... Uninstalling the gwibber package also removes the me-menu which I want to keep actually. Especially the shutdown/restart... part of it. See attachment.I know there is a shutdown panel-app...but its butt-ugly and it doesnt allow to logon/off.
In another thread I read that the gwibber status shouldnt be there if no account for it is configured... which it is not... I do use ubuntu-one though which is in the same menu... I saw that this issue was addressed at some bug report before, but not fixed yet...
Does anybody know a good workaround to get rid of the gwibber status in the panel while keeping the about me and the shutdown button?

Am I asking too much for a FREE OS? Everybody spend their precious time to help others, that's very helpful.But it seems like there is no support from UBUNTU team,how could we even get through the barrier of not using Microsoft's OSes? No free lunch of course, but it seems to me some issues have never really been solved.I read lot's of people have problem with their WIFI, not just for my OLD USB wifi adapter. I don't have problem with WIFI in XP/Server.
I posted here and there, and seems like no answer, and I do not get any reply from UBUNTU support team,forgive me if I run out of google's keywords.I just need a simple answer, is my WIFI going to work in UBUNTU with a layman effort? I like linux and UBUNTU had put great effort in providing me such a great OS, but if a basic internet connection will need to spent sooo much time to setup, and it still doesn't work. I don't know why but sometimes zypper (v1.4.5) removes some of the installed packages before upgrading them.
Actually it removes it even before downloading a newer version. I just wonder what a stupid f**k implemented this behavior. I wish something awful happens to him.
An hour ago I tried to update few packages, among those were sysconfig, firefox and yast. Guess what? Zypper removed those before downloading newer versions. Due to a temporary network connection loss zypper could not download packages and quit leaving me without firefox, without yast and, what's even worse, without sysconfig package which contains essential system scripts such as ifup, ifdown etc (so my network went down completely without a possibility to restore). It's a big luck there was no new package of rpm (or it would be removed by zypper too) so I could just download those packages with my second PC and reinstall them from a memory stick.
Now I'm interested where should I file this bug, because without a doubt it's a critical one.

I'm running 32 bit 10.10 on a Lenovo N200 laptop, I have 3 other Ubuntu computers on my home network and they don't suffer from this problem, 1 is 10.10 32 bit, 1 is 10.10 64 bit and one is 10.04 32 bit. they are on the same network and I cannot see a difference.
However when update manager says there are some updates available, I can install the critical ones but not the "other updates", it tells me that they would require installation from non authenticated sources then after agreeing will not install and goes back to the start of the update process.
The error message lists ALL the "other updates" if I deselect them then the critical upgrades down load and install OK.

I started to use the smart plugin for munin to monitor my HDD. I changed the script a bit to report the raw value instead of the value for Power_On_Hours and temperature. It all works.
However, it now reports the values for these 2 sensors as critical, even though the power on hours is 928 and threshold is 999 (I even tried 9999) and temperature is 51 (threshold is 60).

Why does GNOME fail to start correctly after compiling the latest version of Zlib?
I have analyzed the situation. Zlib does not change or delete any file on the file system.
I have asked this on three occasions over the last 8 months and no one has been able to give me an explanation, so it would be a great challenge for the Ubuntu lovers. I am also EXTREMITY interested to find out why, because I have had a hard spot negative opinion against GNOME since this occurred.
