We are using one service Calypso but it is showing unknown status. I am using centos 5.0 Linux version and server client env. server and POS which is communucate with each other that is also stop working. after that service stop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the proper way to make the smb and nmb services start (and keep running) automatically? I have successfully configured samba on my F15 box, but sometimes the other boxes cant see it. I check the status of smb and nmb and smb is running and active, but nmb status is "Running (exited)". If I manually restart nmb then nmb status changes to "Running (active)" and the problem goes away. However I want it to start (and keep running) automatically as it should. I am thinking maybe the problem is the way I set smb and nmb to start automatically.
I used
$chkconfig smb on
and
$chkconfig nmb on
Is this the correct way? if not, what is it? Maybe I need to be more specific about at which runlevels I want the services to start? I have googled, but found about 5 diferent methods to make this services start automatically, some with systemctrl, some editing files, chkconfig, and even the system-config-services app (which seems broken in f15 btw) and don't know which one to use.

I am using CentOS 5.6 with Apache 2.2.17. The Apache was compiled from source using RPM build to comply with PCI requirements. Also Plesk 9.3 is used as a control panel, but other than the config files the Apache is pretty standard. When the httpd is started, there are no errors reported in /var/log/messages or in the error_log, and the httpd starts, shows up in ps and the pid file exists in /var/run/httpd.pid.
However when you check the status 'service httpd status' you get 'httpd dead but subsys locked'. You can add websites normally, and the proper config files are generated so I am pretty sure this isn't a control panel issue as I have other servers running the same control panel and Apache 2.2.16 compiled and installed the same way as the 2.2.17 and there are no problems.
I installed HP multifunction inkjet printer.Since then, I'm always noticing the blue HP HPLIP servicestatus icon in the system tray. It appears that I can onlyhide or quit it once it has started.Is there a way not even have it started from the system booting?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Fedora release 14 (Laughlin) and my Vim version is 'VIM - Vi IMproved 7.3 (2010 Aug 15, compiled Nov 16 2010 17:05:33)'. I've been trying for quite some time to get a more informative status line in my Vim window but to no avail. I am pasting my very last effort which is as simple as possible. Here is my .vimrc file:

The .vimrc file does get processed, I've tried many other 'set statusline' combinations but everything failed.
I am using nagios to monitor vm in blade servers, everything is working fine. The ram size of the vm is 4 gb and whenever the machine starts, the status of ram is critical as showing only few kb are free.
I set the critical limit as 5% and it comes as 3% and showing as critical. when i give top, i got it as
As shown in the % mem , the total memory used is of about 23% only whereas it shows used memory about 3.7 gb.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am the author of an internet radio for the Raspberry PI originally running on Debian Wheezy. The radio (radiod) service is started and stopped using the usual service commands:
service radiod start|stop|status
Since upgrading to Debian Jessie the service status and stop routines in my radio daemon are no longer called.
For example:
# service radiod status

If I call my program (which runs as a daemon) I see the status message from my program

I have established that service stop never calls my program routines to shutdown the radiod daemon when the system is rebooted (I see that from my log files).
The reboot hangs for about 5 minutes whilst stopping the radiod service (because stop never calls my stop routines).
Below is my radiod script, which is fairly conventional, and which has been working all the time until I ported to Debian Jessie.

I am running 64bit 10.04 on my Dell Latitude D620 with a BCM4328. The hardware drivers are working and I can connect to my wireless network but...The annoyance is the wireless icon in the task bar does not show a connected status. Instead I get a grayed out icon with a red exclamation point over it. I am connected though.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use ldap to provide account and home directory services for sendmail.Unfortunately,sendmail occasionally (rarely) rejects a message with a "User unknown" status when the user is a legitimate user that has routinely been recognized in previous messages.I have not yet found a reason to suspect that the ldap server is failing to respond properly or in timely fashion to queries.However, since I believe this information is cached by nscd on the local mail server, I am suspicious that the problem may rest with nscd and its database.Is anyone aware of rather random failures to obtain correct information from an ldap query that is actually related to nscd?Also, I decided to just treat nscd as an application for purposes of this post
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu Server 10.04.1 in Virtualbox environment with the host is Ubuntu Desktop 10.04.1.I have built a LAMP server after a fresh installation of Ubuntu server (I didn't choose LAMP to install when I installed this server) , everything works fine, but when I run "service mysql status" command I get this error: "status: Unable to connect to system bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory"
I try in my desktop (also with LAMP installed) and I get the result like:
"mysql start/running, process 1218"
I have six linux Centos 5.0 Servers. I had to configure the snmp client. I just created a pretty basic configuration snmpd.conf file

4 of them are working fine, the application installed on 10.1.1.10 can query 4 servers but I got 2 Linux Centos that are in a DMZ, and my networking team already opened ports and configured NAT but the SNMP Server 10.1.1.10 is not able to query them how can I check the snmpd is really running apart from service snmpd status? might be related with the DMZ configuration?
I am now using Ubuntu 9.10. The prob is I am not able to increase the resolution of display. It is showing only 800 x 600 display. While trying to increase the resolution it is showing "Unknown Monitor". So, how can I detect the monitor so I can increase the resolution of my system.

I tried using Empathy with Gwibber, but I can't get Gwibber to update my IM status(es) in Empathy, so I want to go back to using Pidgin. (Additionally, I can't get Skype to work with Empathy.)I installed pidgin-microblog and pidgin-mbpurple, and they allow me to view my Twitter feed in Pidgin and update my Twitter status in Pidgin. However, in Karmic, I was also able to specify certain "status availabilities" (one named "Twitter-Available" and one named "Twitter-Away", for instance) to have the IM status message for these statuses become populated with my Twitter feed. This capability seems missing in pidgin-mbpurple in Lucid (and it seems to be the only thing missing from Karmic).
Is there a way to have pidgin-mbpurple update certain "status availabilities" in Lucid (and I'm just missing something) or is this no longer possible?Equivalently, is it possible to have Gwibber update my status message in Empathy? (I just want to be able to update my status once on one of my three computers - and have it propagate to all my other accounts (IM and social networking) and computers).
I tried posting this before and I'm not sure what happened but I don't think it worked, so if it did please forgive the double post.am very very new to centOS and linux in general. I just want to setup a test web server that more closely mirrors our actual web server that is hosted by rackspace. I've installed centOS and tried to setup Apache, PHP and MySQL from a guide on the web using Yum. When I go to localhost in the web browser I'm able to see the default apache page. However when I create a php page it's just blank.When I look at the apache error logs I get this: PHP Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0
I've been searching alot on the internet and I know the issue is permission related, but I don't know how to fix it. I've seen some forum posts that say you need to use the chmod 775 command on the /var/www/html folder.Currently when I do ls -l /var/www/html it returns

I'm sure that this isn't correct but like I said I don't know much about how to set permissions or who the owner needs to be. I've done alot of searching and seen similar posts, but no one seems to explain it clearly.
After a fresh installation of Ubuntu 10.10 I uninstalled empathy (im using skype). The empathy menu in the evolution indicator was gone after that.I also uninstalled gwibber. But the gwibber status indicator remains within the about-me panel... Uninstalling the gwibber package also removes the me-menu which I want to keep actually. Especially the shutdown/restart... part of it. See attachment.I know there is a shutdown panel-app...but its butt-ugly and it doesnt allow to logon/off.
In another thread I read that the gwibber status shouldnt be there if no account for it is configured... which it is not... I do use ubuntu-one though which is in the same menu... I saw that this issue was addressed at some bug report before, but not fixed yet...
Does anybody know a good workaround to get rid of the gwibber status in the panel while keeping the about me and the shutdown button?
I am running Server 10. I have a requirement to perform an action before the MySQL service starts, and perform another action after MySQL service stops.
I found the init script for MySQL under /etc/init/mysql.conf. I added my thing to the pre-start script there and works fine.
I am having trouble finding the script that stops the server so I can modify.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to connect a projector to my laptop (already running) and hit the fn+f7 (the designated button for switching screen), nothing happens. I see "no source found" on projector screen and my laptop screen works perfectly. Now if I restart the laptop with the projector connected, I see all the intial booting messages on the projector screen (not on my laptop), then the gnome login screen appears on both the projector screen and laptop (when the login screen appears on laptop it looks like it has lower resolution than my usual laptop resolution). But immediately after I log in, my laptop screen goes blank, and projector screen becomes the only active screen.
If I restart without the projector, again all normal operation on laptop screen is restored.
I feel like I am missing some very silly options. Any help is appreciated.

I have little problem with gpk servce pack (from gpk-package-extra package). When im trying to make list of my packages in system i have:

I am trying to setup LDAP server on Ubuntu 10.04 and am sticking to the old /etc/ldap/slapd.conf file configuration.
I had to comment ldapi:/// from /etc/default/slapd since it was giving 'Address already in use error'. Also had to juggle with pid directory and file issues
After that I was able to start the slapd daemon (service slapd start) but now I am running into multiple issues:
1. Can't stop the service with service slapd stop
