General :: Possible To Activate RHEL6.0 In Trial Version In RHN?
Apr 14, 2011
I downloaded RHEL 6.0 free 30 day trial version.I would like to train to exams but in order to install packages from RHN repo I need to register in their web site RHN.Is it possible to activate RHEL6.0 in trial version in RHN ?
I downloaded Ubuntu and was hella pumped to use it.. I downloaded it, burnt it at a 4x speed (slowest I can) I did a clean install and made it the only OS on my Hard Drive. After installing it said I didn't have connection. After a good 3-4 hours, I tried every option, I even got it to say I was connected but I still had no Internet connection. I put in my Windows 7 disc to go back to what I originally had. BUT I couldn't install it to a hard drive that wasnt formatted at NTFS, I guess Ubuntu changed my HDD. So, I put back in my Ubuntu disc and clicked 'Try Ubuntu'.. Found out that the TRIAL gives me Internet but the full version does not. I copied down the configuration that the Auto Eth connection had, and went back to the full version - I already had in the exact same configuration. So im here with a trial on my computer, can't download anything or install anything. I cant go back to Windows 7, and I need the disc in to use my computer.
I have been running a dual boot system with Windows XP plus SUSE Linux 11.2 since january 2010. Now (2011-03-06) I downloaded Ubuntu 10,4 LTS, produced an installation CD, booted Windows XP and invoked the Wubi to instal Ubuntu under Windows. The good news is that it works! However, I would prefer a different setup.
Currently, when my PC boots, I can choose from the GRUB menu either SUSE Linux or Windows. When I select Windows, I see another menu where I can choose between Windows and my new Ubuntu Linux. I would like to install Ubuntu Linux such that my initial GRUB menu offers the choice between the three systems. From a few articles in the Ubuntu forums I conclude that it should be possible to do so. Is there an instruction on how to do it? I chose a headline that expresses my question in more general terms,
I am trying to load the latest version and when I get to the "Who are you" screen the next button will not activate. I can't push the button. The bottom left of the box says "ready when you are". I have tried several times to load and now am trying two different CDs, same issue each time.
i am using acer extensa 4620 laptop of 32bit architecture with core 2 duo processor and 1 gb ddr2.i have installed RHEL 6. i want to do practice on virtual machine for my rhce exam.due to 32bit architecture i am not able to use kvm one more problen, during installation of RHEL6 i cannot use "install or upgrade" option while booting dvd.after entering this opiton my screen goes blank nathing comes, but i am able to install usic "basic video driver option" same problem i face when i enter in rescue mode also..... nothing is displayed...the screen goes blank
I loaded RHEL6 (first time ever loading it) and it would boot to the cmd line. I changed /etc/inittab to boot to GUI, now it freezes. I want to change it back, but do not know how to stop the boot process so I can get to the cmd line to re-edit inittab. I'm working in VMware vCenter.
Does RHEL6 include smp kernel? When I run uname -arn it does #SMP but I want to confirm if a seperate RPM like kernel-smp-* is included in default installation.
How do you get RHEL6 to display the "traditional" display of startup information instead of the tiered/stacked progress bar? The standard info dump is displayed during shutdown.
In RHEL6 root's account I have crontab job: 30 6 18 4 1 /sbin/init 6 It worked fine on the 18th of April and properly restarted my system, BUT it also restarted my OS at 6:30 on next Monday - 25th of April.
I configured httpd.conf. With ip, port 80 and specified the document path correctly. But service httpd restart shows httpd stop fail, httpd start fail.
I have Win 7 installed on my laptop with 4GB RAM. I have installed Oracle VirtualBox-3.2.8-64453-Win. Kindly let me know the steps to install RHEL 6 on this.
I was trying out the parallel port communication on RHEL 6 but found it not working: #echo hello > /dev/parport0 write error :Invalid argument". #ll > "/dev/lp0" /dev/lp0:No such device or address
I have a problem booting ubuntu 9.10 after removing a disk drive that had windows 7 on it from my PC. Below is a run down of what happened. My system is MSI based MB with 3 IDE drives and DVD-writer on Primary and Secondary IDE channels. The MB also has a FASTTRACK SATA/IDE controller that I occasionally use to attach another disk for trial/backup purposes. (main backup is to external USB storage)For some time I have DUAL booted with grub2 with ubuntu 9.10 and windows XP all fine and no problems. Use ubuntu as its quick and easy on my old PC. XP for some legacy apps.As I had a spare IDE drive I thought I'd give a Windows 7 a trial. The Drive is attached to the FASTTRACK IDE controller and windows 7 installed with NO OTHER drives attached.
All OK so far!Reattached my other drives and could boot into ubuntu/XP as required. Ran sudo update-grub which found new windows 7 Ok! So for the last month I was happily play/using all 3 OS booting from grub2 loader as required.Windows 7 30 day trail has now expired so no longer of any use to me. So I decided to remove windows 7Here's what I did:..........1st: Just unplugged the disk drive with windows 7 on it! XP boots OK but ubuntu fails to boot! 2nd: Re-attached the windows 7 drive and wiped with ubuntu disk utilityRe-ran sudo update-grub windows 7 no-longer on grub2 menu! Reboot OK windows 7 no-longer on grub2 menu ubuntu and XP boot ok. Remove (empty)windows 7 drive again and ubuntu fails to boot
I'm waiting to receive RHEL software. I have a RHEL Trial Media so can i install this and activate the software later or do i need to reinstall from new when i get the Media im waiting on
How to update newly created partion in RHEL6 without rebooting the system?partprobe /dev/sdaN...does not work here in RHEL6, however it did work in RHEL 5.
I have the install disk on a pendrive and all that (Its the netbook remix 10.04) but when I try to run the "Demo and full installation" I reboot and it just goes back to windows xp. I tried to install the cd helper thing, but it just makes an error and fails. I can't seem to get into the bios because whenever I reboot, the screen is black until windows is loaded and everything. Any help would be appreciated. My netbook is a NB200 by Toshiba.
I initially had a dual boot where I could decide to either boot into Windows 7 or Ubuntu 10.04. It work seamlessly. At some point, however, when I booted into Windows, it just seem to only load it "half" in the sense that the desktop just turned black (but when ctrl-alt-del was hit I did receive a screen with the different options).
I suspected there was a problem with grub and proceeded to restore the Windows bootloader by booting into the Windows CD and repairing the computer by entering the commands:
After restarting I suddenly do not have the option to boot into Ubuntu (where did it go?) and booting automatically into Windows the original problem persists.
Any idea what happened here and how I can restore things?
Which LXDE version of Linux has the newest version of Firefox and Open Office included?
I am looking for an iso file, and I am trying to run this off of a live CD for now. So I want a light version of Linux, probably LXDE, or if not, then probably XFCE. But I need a new version of Firefox and OpenOffice included.
Because, I tried burning the customizable NimbleX @ custom.nimblex.net . Pretty good, except it uses Firefox 2, and Open Office 2.3, which are outdated.
And I tried Mint XFCE, which might have been pretty good too, but it had some issue of blanking and requiring relogin after I opened hotmail frequently (user id: mint, password: blank).
The web browser and the word processing program are the most important and essential applications to me.
So are there any Linux versions in LXDE on LiveCD that include newer versions of Firefox (or at least another good browser) and Open Office (oo seems better than abi)? (Again, if no LXDE, perhaps XFCE?)
I just want to download a good version in an iso file, and burn it to a CD and get to work. Like I said the web browser and the word processing program are all important.
So really, what iso/LiveCD versions are the fastest for running on an older system, and yet have the newest browser and word processor included?
