I am running the latest ubuntu on my toshiba l500 laptop but if i connect to bt homehub using wireless none of the msn chat clients will connect, it is fine if i use wired connection or even if i connect wirelessly to the bt fon acess point just not with the one i use all the time.
View 1 RepliesIf I go to the website and download the ISO file is it the exact same one that was released in April or will it contain the latest patches (e.g. security fixes, etc) that have been release since then? If it doesn't I suppose I'll have to download the entire ISO file, install the OS, and then have another couple hundred MB to download which is not what I'd prefer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCreating a new thread for the specific chipset. Laptop is an Acer 5534 with the Atheros chipset. Normally uses the Ath9k driver. To get it to work originally I had to download, compile and install the latest compat_wireless drivers. See post here: {URL] I did the update that came through today and after the reboot there was no wireless internet. It alternates between reboots between having no wireless networks at all detected to never connection to the [AUTO] network previously defined. To fix the problem, I downloaded the latest compat_wireless, compat-wireless-2009-12-11.tar.bz2, and followed the same procedure. I did not do a make clean. To solve the problem temporarily, I edited the grub config and set default to 2 instead of 0 (1 would be 0 in recovery mode).

On my ageing laptop with Intel IPW3945 wireless adapter which has always worked extremely well.... Fedora 13 with the latest NetworkManager. Seems that wireless speed has slowed to a crawl.

I have my broadcom wireless drivers installed and working on my FC14 setup, when the 2.6.35.10-72(and 74).fc14.i686 came up my wireless doesn't work. Making me revert to using version 2.6.35.6-48.fc14.i686. Am I going to have to install the broadcom everytime the kernel is updated? I don't recall doing that on fc13.

It was over 300 MB. I installed it, did a reboot and my internet connection was lost. I tried a few things I found on this forum yesterday. Nothing worked. The WEP, WPA-PSK connections and communications between my board with linux and my desktop PC, Windows XP SP2 (with Olitec USB wireless) are fine. But when I configured the WPA type, the connection seems established but shows the status "TKIP - Key Absent" in the security dialog box. Anyone faced this problem? Consider the following scenario: you have two disks that are kept synchronized by some method. Could be RAID, could be LVM snapshots, could be a script. However, something has gone wrong. The disks are out-of-sync and you don't know which disk received which updates. You want to manually re-sync the disks but how do you figure-out which file to copy where?
I'm thinking of saving recursive directory-listings of the entire disks to text-files. Sorting them on last-update and removing all identical entries from the files.
I have a feeling that this is something that can be done with just a few command's but I need some help to get me started.
I tried the following command with no succes (all with sudo):
update-grub
aptitude safe-upgrade
aptitude full-upgrade
