I have RHEL 5.5 ,Suse linex and windows7 is also running in my system. I am not able to connect to internet from Linux, but internet is working in windows 7 and suse. The service provider is qwest and they say that they do not support linux.

Everything is working fine but it changed my IP address (which is ok) but it also changed my HOSTNAME (which is really starnge for me).And the problem with my tools is that with old connection it's working fine but with new connection GUI mode is not working, only batch mode is working.

I have the Huawei E160 UMTS Stick with a German SIM from O2. Actually it is a prepaid tariff where I can buy a daily data flat rate. And I am running Ubuntu 10.04 UNR. I use SMS to order and confirm a daily data flat rate and I made this working with gammu. Not the most comfortable but a very reliable solution (see In order to charge the my account or to check my account balance I can either use the Original Huawei Software under Windows or I can put the SIM in my mobile and dial a number code. By entering the code '4444' my UMTS account gets recharged with 10 EUR (debited form my bank account). With the code '*101#' I can check the account balance.
What I want to do: I want to be able to recharge my account and check my account balance with Ubuntu, so without taking the SIM out and putting it into a mobile phone (and obviously without using the original Windows software).Using gammu in order to send the necessary codes did not work so far. When entering gammu --getussd *101# I get the following result:

I am a newbie to linux and running ubuntu server 10.10 (no gui), I had it configured with a fixed ip address and all was fine till I changed internet poroviders and got issued with a new router.
I am trying to configure the server to reflect the new settings of the new service provider. here are the contents of /etc/network/interfaces

Just so I got this right can someone tell me if I am right here. address is the IP I wish to give to my server statically. and gateway is the ip of the router. When I try to ping the router I get

I've been fighting with my atheros AR5007 network adapter to configure it on my qwest network and its not working! It hooks up to my friends comcast wifi!

They have a special roaming agreement with the Danish company named the same, so that I can surf for free both within the 3 net in Sweden and in Denmark. This has worked very smoothly until recently, when my modem connected to another company here in Denmark, and I was charged for the surfing per MB (a lot of money per MB, luckily I got a warning message in my browser and stopped).The company now says that they cannot block my modem from using all foreign networks except theirs, so they've blocked it from all surfing outside Sweden - which means I cannot surf in Denmark. If I was using Windows, their application however could block the unwanted networks...
But then I saw this field "Network" under "Advanced" in the Network Connections->Mobile Broadband box. What is that for? Can I tell it to connect only to e.g. networks called "3"? I have currently installed Slackware 13.1 64bit version on a laptop Acer computer. This computer is connected to my cable service (comcast) modem via a dlink router. This computer has linux and Windows 7 dual boot systems installed. Initially I was able to connect to the internet with either linux or Windows. Now I cannot get on the internet with linux, but I can with windows.
I cannot even ping the address of my internet provider,which I can obtain through windows 7 by running the program ipconfig. When I ping the address, in linux,it gives me the message that "network is unreachable".I can ping it in windows 7.If I run on linux the program ifconfig, it does not even show an ethernet, like it does on my other computer connected to this network.I set the thing up initially with netconfig and used DHCP.As I said, initially it worked.I did not use this computer for some time, and now it has the previously described problems.Where should I start, trying to run this down?I have already done everything I can think of,like powered things off, and reset the cable modem etc.

In explenation:
- two physical servers exist that runs a web based application (exact copy of each other)
- Real servers using Apache as the web server.
- Users need to connect to a "virtual link" whihc will then load balance across the two servers based on the host that is the least busy.
Currently using Ultramonkey, however after upgrading to RHEL5.4 , Ultramonkey is no longer supported and installations fail.
Can anyone perhaps provide me with some ideas on alternative options for this keeping in mind that the client will have to be able to manage this afterwards as well.

i recently changed my broadband provider and since then i havent been able to connect to the internet. I have configured all the settings on my laptop,(ive got puppy linux 4 on it). All the settings say i have a valid connection to the wireless connection and that its recognised the new provider but when i try to access the internet i get the page that says UNABLE TO CONNECT TO SERVER and it also says that i need to check my network connections etc etc. Ive done all that and it appears that i have everything in the right place. SO WHY wont it connect.
View 1 Replies View Relatedin order to select multiple items, shift key was hold for several seconds[sure > 8sec] and there after system is not taking any input from keyboard. however only the mouse works. i searched a lot and found some remedies like hold right and/or left shift keys for 8 sec and it will revert back. press shift key 5 times and hold ins key for 8 sec etc,. but i tried all these and none of it seems to be working. i even hold some alphabet key for 8 seconds to see if it takes input, but none of them seems to be working
i connected this keyboard to other machine and it works fine. this keyboard is USB dell keyboard. i tried logging in init level 3 and even with this i can not input anything from keyboard. i did reboot several times and unable to even login as it does not take any keyboard input. the only way i can access this system is to remote login from other system and work on command prompt!!is there a fix to it? accidentally if something is changed in which file it is saved? can i edit that file and restore to normal? am not sure if all these does not work i may have to reformat!! but this is the last thing i want to do
I have installed RHEL-5 (2.6.18-53) on my Desktop (ASUS Motherboard with Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controler 8168). After installation eth0 is not detecting. I downloaded R8168 drivers from Relatek site, but I am unable to install as it's throwing the following error.

I have tried lot of thing but not getting result.
I have a lenovo desktop pc (WIN7) that I connect to the interrnet with. I have a custom built box (SuSE11.3). I have clear internet service and use a USB modem to connect to the internet. Clear does not make a Linux driver yet... I can connect to the Internet through VMware desktop with SuSE as the guest OS. However, I want to connect my other system to a router and my other PC. Would I be able to access the web with the linux box? I have a free NIC card on both pc's, I'm just not savvy enough to network them so if anyone could explain or tell me if it is even posssible to network the 2, My goal is to run SuSE on one, WIN7 on the other and access the internet from both.
