I've recently configured our mail server (postfix/dovecot). Everything is running, I have a reverse DNS, MX records, A records etc.. I've added the users already.Here is the problem, whenever I test email from an email client(Outlook 2003), there's no problem. But when try sending email from the outside the mail just bounce or deferred.

Since I created second user USB devices as PTP camera, flash mass storage automounts always for the new user.
Even the second user is not logged in automount does not work for main user. When I log in as second user (with device plugged in) it is mounted automatically after log in.
What can I do with this problem?
I would like to access devices from each user (not necessarily at the same time).
How can I configure it?
How can I "remount" device to my current user without switching into the second one (it's someones else account)?

I am having an issue with a Chrooted SFTP User not being able to write files.
The permissions are setup correctly as if I remove the Chroot the user can write files correctly.
User has a transfer folder which they should be able to write files to and read from, this works correctly until I apply the snippet from sshd_config file below then the user can only read files. I have tried tweaking the permissions but this doesn't seem to have helped at all.code...
Whenever I try to install Xubuntu onto my really old computer (not this one), it goes to a screen that shows nothing except the Xubuntu logo and the name. After a bit, my monitor falls asleep, and I am unable to wake it back up.If I press enter while at this screen, it brings up the error message in the title. The same thing happens with all the options I try to press.

I didn't create it and no one else uses my computer (let alone has access to user account creations). It was called dtc. It didn't seem to have any privileges and the only file in its home folder was called Examples. Should I worry that I might have some kind of malware? I deleted the user and the folder (and it came back after a while). It's main group is dtcgrp. The User ID is 1004.

I recently installed Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Desktop 64-bit edition. The install worked and I was able to restart the machine no problems. Last week (5/27/10) I shut down my machine and since then I cannot boot. I assume it's because of new software maybe a new kernel; I did an "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade" on May 28th or 27th. Upon booting if I hit Esc right away I see:

I'm running an up-to-date Lucid Lynx, full encryption with LUKS on my Eee 1005HA. Since yesterday, after booting, the only "X" is can see is the mouse cursor above a console-like text, saying:

So, I googled for the getpwuid_r thing. I found a blog saying to install nscd (did so) and run it. But: To my inconvenience, after every booting, I have to switch to console 1, log in, run "sudo /etc/init.d/nscd restart" and then "sudo restart gdm".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this strange error - I switched from postfix 2.6.5 to 2.8.2 and I some mailservers cannot send mail to me. One of them was some sendmail server. I have virtual alias maps in mysql. It works fine for almost all server that are sending mail to me, but some of them seems to send mails as user@FQDN instead of user@virtualdomain my machine name is x49.tvujweb.cz, and mz email is kamil.horky@servis-it.net but in server logs is that user kamil.horky@x49.tvujweb.cz cannot be found in virtual alias maps.

when I try to send emails to new created emails account, I get this error:

And if I try to send a e-mail, the authentication fails if I setup the account at the desktop email client to password requirement on.
But it works when I try it using a webmail client (Horde) and I receive the email.The old emails accounts work fine. The new accounts and old ones were created with Plesk.I find an entry with

I get no output from

Using mchk and mailmng does not seems to change that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently running 10.04. Just did some updates and when it finished rebooting it just doesn't work right. Whenever I click on my user name to enter my password it freezes for 3-5 seconds then the screen reloads. If I do Ctrl+Alt+F7 I get this error(the title of the thread). I have no earthly idea what this means but everything was working great until I did my updates just a couple hours ago. on??

Like u see, the emails from the outside reach first the filter, latter the mailbox. Now, I have seen in my log files, that if I receive a email to a "unknown user", the filter doesn't detect this and process the email and send it to the mail server. Exist a way to setup the filter to first check if the user exist and them apply all hard work and latter send the email to the mail server

ID named shows:

I've setup postfix using mysql tables and all works except for sending to an alias. The mysql logs show that postfix is only looking at the mailbox table for where to deliver the mail for the alias. However it is not looking in the virtual alias maps table. There are no complaints from postfix on startup to indicate that there is anything wrong, and if I send to a virtual domain listed as a relay on the server it does look up the virtual alias table... even though the domain is not hosted on the server....
So the question I have is where to look next? The mysql log shows the expected lookups from postfix EXCEPT for the virtual alias map queries.... why would it not be checking the table? Since it is not looking up the virtual alias it bounces the addresses back to sender complaining that the user doesn't exist... It does deliver to a virtal mailbox, however again it never checks the vitual alias table.... so it only delivers since there's a mailbox for it rather than needing an alias...
I have a Fedora box running a domain and a sub domain. It also is the mail server running Postfix and Dovecot. I have created a new user account in the Virtual Alias.conf file and run postfix reload.

This new account can send mail internally and externally but cannot receive mail internally and externally.

It comes after choosing language, when the Ubuntu start-up logo shows with the 5 dut under it. I am trying to install Ubuntu Netbook on a little Compaq Mini.

Due to the flaws in 11.04 (Natty) I decided to reinstall earlier 10.10 release. However, when reading the installation CD, I can not get past the following error message code...
I tried also two releases older Lucid (10.04) and I get the same behaviour.
I do not see any reason for this to start to happening now, after I was able to install my previous releases without problems. I upgraded to the problematic Natty release online.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use ldap to provide account and home directory services for sendmail.Unfortunately,sendmail occasionally (rarely) rejects a message with a "User unknown" status when the user is a legitimate user that has routinely been recognized in previous messages.I have not yet found a reason to suspect that the ldap server is failing to respond properly or in timely fashion to queries.However, since I believe this information is cached by nscd on the local mail server, I am suspicious that the problem may rest with nscd and its database.Is anyone aware of rather random failures to obtain correct information from an ldap query that is actually related to nscd?Also, I decided to just treat nscd as an application for purposes of this post

I just want to setup a test web server that more closely mirrors our actual web server that is hosted by rackspace. I've installed centOS and tried to setup Apache, PHP and MySQL from a guide on the web using Yum. When I go to localhost in the web browser I'm able to see the default apache page. However when I create a php page it's just blank.When I look at the apache error logs I get this: PHP Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0
I've been searching alot on the internet and I know the issue is permission related, but I don't know how to fix it. I've seen some forum posts that say you need to use the chmod 775 command on the /var/www/html folder.Currently when I do ls -l /var/www/html it returns

I'm sure that this isn't correct but like I said I don't know much about how to set permissions or who the owner needs to be. I've done alot of searching and seen similar posts, but no one seems to explain it clearly.
