View 2 RepliesI have captured a file in my linux showing logs captured from many modules concurrently. Please find attached a sample of the file. As you see, there are logs from individual modules that have been captured concurrently. For example, there are logs from IPTR,SNMP,HLR,TCAP,XAPP,and SCCP modules but they are coming concurrently.Each log has the header name of its accompanied module in the beginning. I need to have the log of each modules separately. Can you please show me the power of linux on how to separate individual module's logs from the whole?

binary. How can I break out the compilation into individual gcc commands for each c file, so that make checks the timestamp and accordingly compiles only the modified files.

View 4 Replies View Relatedpolicy is to backup mysql with mysql-zrm.However at a certain stage it hangs forever. This is at the "flush logs". I tried this manually and it gave the same result. Even after restarting mysql and the host. After some googling and trying I found out "flush tables with read lock" gives the same result. The tables seem to be MyIsam. I tried with a mysqldump on one server and restore it on a test vm. I used the same config and flush logs still hangs. ALso I tried to change some configuration directives... but with the same result
Edit: btw, I checked the logfile and didn't found anything (/var/log/mysqld.log)
Edit2: I also did myisamchk -s *.MYI (in all direcoties with db files;actually did it with find command) and it did not return anything so datafiles seem ok.

I am not sure whether sed utility can do this, these are large files and need to be pruned .I am not seeking logrotation advice just a script or command that can strip these large logs of texts between the characters above . I am not sure how to do this.These files are rather large.I am not sure how to achieve this with sed , tail, head , tr or any other facility .
I am installing RHEL 5.5 to be a syslog server to collects logs from servers (HP-UX, Linux, Windows and Cisco Network Devices). and i can now collect logs from my windows PC on syslog linux server by using Datagram SyslogAgent software. can collect logs from HP-UX 11.23 server. and i configuring the Unix server as in the steps below:
1. Log in as root
2. Go to /etc/syslog.conf
3. Add a line: *.*<tab>@<Sentinel Server IP Address>
*.* @10.15.1.5
4. Save and Close

Say for example I have a file named config.xml in an htdocs directory and a XMLReader function from PHP reads some value(s) out of this file for every connection of Apache or NGinx. Now suppose my site receives a gigantic spike in traffic (but Apache stays opertational through it all)... For my project, it's absolutely necessary to have a read-only root partition system. I have a writable /opt/project partition.But, I also need to start x server. startx This tries to write to some temporary files and fails as / is readonly. Is there any how-to on how to move this temporary files to the writable portions of the file system.

I started using Linux as a way to revive older computers provide a backup and expand my knowledge of computing. The command line was something new to me but as long as I can find detailed directions on how to do what I want I can usually manage. I set up a Samba server for my home shared network and now I'd like to make the shared drives of that server accessible from outside my network. Via ssh or ftp or some program of the like. I'd like to have it user name and password protected. Configurable user rights would be nice. (read/write/delete/etc) As well as novice user friendly.
My end goal is a server with read/write capability that I will be able to access from work or a friends house or anywhere with an Internet connection and my laptop. I understand about port forwarding and have done so with my home network behind an AT&T U-verse router/modem. I've researched openssh and some ftp setups but they seem like they can be difficult. Now for the questions. Is this task something that can be accomplished without a degree in computer networking? Is there a program(s) that would make this a simpler task? Is this more complex than its worth? How would I go about setting up such a thing?
I currently have a debian hpc server unit of 10 p4 computers running under debian lenny in use for serving my home network via pxe. I was wondering if there was anything I could use to allow the same read and write acces that is on my pxe machines on my new palm pre plus. That would save me the hassle of syncing all my documents and movies etc to my phone every day or so.
So basically what I am asking is if I can use the current 5tb nfs raid and mount it some way to a remote ip that I can access fully on my phone without the need for a flash plugin. Btw the phone is homebrew app ready.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI all ready have a Debian spam filter setup using Postgrey, Postfix, Amavis-new, spamassassin, and ClamAV this box is a relay spam filter server to our SBS Exchange Box. Currently all Virus laden email is disposed of, and all spam that is not thrown out gets sent to a spam filter account on the exchange server that I check periodically. This is inefficient and I'd rather not do this, additionally I'd like users to have control over their own white lists and so forth.
I am willing to start from scratch on this as the spam filter is running in a VM environment I can plug a new one in and be running in minutes. The issue I am having is that I cannot find any information on how to do this. Plenty, including HOWTOs, on how to do this with local users on the spam box and also have it relay to another server, but not how to make quarantine folders for relay recipients that are access
