My system is an Altix3000 running: (Linux sgialtix 2.4.21-sgi304r1 #1 SMP Sat Jan 29 22:43:29 PST 2005 ia64 ia64 ia64 GNU/Linux) (redhat-release=redhat-release-3AS-8.3). Which command do I use to list World Wide Name information of the QLA2300 HBA? I tried /proc/scsi and /proc/xscsi but I found nothing there.

We have a SuSE/SLES 9 server that boots from a fibre channel card, using volumes from a NetApp filer.
We previously had the server booting from the LUNs on the filer, but after some tinkering around with the fibre channel BIOS, we have the situation where the LUNS seem to be mounted, the OS boots, starts to initialise everything but then stalls, saying:
We have tried loads of combinations of settings in the BIOS and fibre channel BIOS without any success or any idea what may have caused the error.

I'm new to this environment. I'm currently using OpenSuse 11.2 freshly installed. I'm attempting to install FCoE as a target on one box and an initiator on another. I've gone to the Open-FCoE.org site and got the tar file open-fcoe-2.6.34.tar.gz and attempted to install it, but there appear to be missing dependencies, such as libhbalinux. However, the more I seem to install, the more there are unresolved dependancies. I've followed the Open_FCoE Target and Iniator Quick Starts, but I'm running into many missing souce dependencies. What exactly I need in the way of packages, files, etc and how to install them? Is there any documentation of how to install FCoE from scratch?

I've been running Debian for a while, and now have the chance to do some enterprise-level experimentation. I stumbled across a very cheap EMC Clariion CX300 fibre RAID unit on eBay with 10 disks (£90!), so I snapped it up with a fibre HBA. It's not a SAN, technically a DAS in its current configuration. I'd like to know how hard it is to set up one of these as an actual disk device in Debian.I tried installing the HBA (an Agilent Tachyon XL2 PCI-X card, 32 and 64-bit modes) in my current 'live' server (a Celeron 1.2GHz-based machine), but while Debian detected it as a FC controller card, mapping the LUNs within Navisphere on the CX to the host caused nothing (obvious) to show up in the OS. From what I've read about setting up SANs (not DASs, there seems to be precious little info on setting up these), there's firmware involved with the card, and there are no references to getting a Tachyon running under Linux.
I also snagged a good deal on a PowerEdge 1850 server, but as it's the PCI-Express version, the Tachyon won't fit, so I'm considering buying a PCI-E HBA. I found a QLogic QLE2460 for a good price, but I'm hesitant to buy it, in case I still can't get Debian to see the disks. I'd most like to have the device connected to the PowerEdge instead of the Celeron machine. Have I missed a step in the configuration, or is there anything I can do to test if the system is working as it should be? The units we use at work are much simpler: set the RAIDs up, map the host LUNs and the disk shows up in Windows. I'm also sure I've set everything up correctly on the CX, as the same LUN is available to Windows. Just need to get Debian to see something on the end of the HBA!System Specs:Live Server: Celeron 1.2GHz, 512MB RAM, Intel D815EEA2 board, SATA soft-RAID hard drives, PCI Gb Ethernet and USB2.0, Agilent Tachyon XL2 PCI-X FC HBA, Debian 6.0.1PowerEdge 1850: 2x 3.2GHz Xeons, 6GB RAM, SCSI RAID disks, PCI-E riser, planned QLogic QLE2460 PCI-E HBARAID Unit: EMC Clariion CX300, 10x 146GB FC disks, 2Gbps Fibre-channel interfaceThe PowerEdge is the planned replacement for the Celeron machine, which started life as my experimentation box and became my personal live server. Storage is holding it back, so I'd love to add a further five disks to the CX and have nearly 2TB of RAID-protected storage.

If so how would one do this? If not why does the switch have to be fibre channel?

I find myself in unfamiliar territory. I am attempting to get a Dell M610 (in an M100e) running Ubuntu 9.1 64bit to talk to a Dell EMC Fibre Channel Array. The Dell has an Emulex card in it and it appears that the driver is loaded OK. What I am not sure on is what to do next! I have the SAN end configured but how do I get my LUN mounted on Ubuntu ?

We had a problem with the NIC 10Gig Qlogic NICs and had to swap them with Emulex 10Gig NIC cards. The swap has been done. There are several severs (about 100)for which we need to check if the hands-on still left the q logic card in them. So, I wrote a script using dmesg and grepped for "qlogic" or " NC522SFp" and my script checked for all the servers and returned no presence of "qlogic". But few of them have q logic still in them. So, is there any other way through which we can exactly tell whether q logic card is still present or not? I used:
dmesg | grep -i "qlogic" or
dmesg | grep -i " NC522SFp"
and found nothing in the o/p. But when I checked using ifconfig -a, then I see the q logic mac ids for eth4 & eth5, which means the Q logic is still present. But not sure whether ifconfig is the real way to find out the presence of these cards.

PC seems to run fine in single channel mode but monitor reports no input in dual channel mode and memtest86+ lists from 1-3 errors per pass in single channel mode. Motherboard (Gigabyte P43T-ES3G) can't be set for the 1.65 volts required by the RAM (2x2 of OCZ3P1333LV4GK PC3 10666). The mobo voltage choices are 1.6 or 1.7 volts. I have tried both and increased the MCH voltage from 1.1 v to 1.2 v, but so far can't get it to run in dual channel mode at all and single channel mode seems to run fine but I still get errors in memtest86+. Also tried optimized Bios settings and loosened memory timings (from 7-7-7-16 to 8-8-8-27 and tRFC 60 to 70) and reset Command Rate from 0 to 2. CPU is Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz, PSU is rated at 400 watts, Video card is Gigabyte GT220.

I'm trying to crack my wep password just for kicks, but I keep running into the same error. When I try to use airplay-ng for the packet injection, it always gives me the error " wlan0 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6". I've tried setting wlan0 to channel 6 manually, but that doesn't help. I spent a while searching for a solution, but it seemed like each page had a different, usually highly complex solution, that still doesn't work. I have the most recent drivers for my wireless card, and it meets all the requirements. So, is there any solution to this that will actually work?

I am running fedora 14 and have tried to setup VPN access to work. I used the simple networking GUI program. Another engineer at work uses ubuntu and that is how he accesses the VPN. I think that I did everything right but get this generic 'VPN connection failed' message. I am trying to connect to a monowall firewall and have the IP address. Yes, I have an account but am just trying it for the first time. I turned on all of the options available which seemed correct based on the instructions that I had. I have contacted my sys-admin to try to find out what the monowall doesn't like. However, I am wondering if I might need to open an outgoing port on my linksys home router/firewall and, if so, which one?

I have been trying to build the HP Qlogic Netxen, nx_nic, driver on Ferdora13 kernel 2.6.33 but facing with "missing kernel-devel package" errors. As per the instructions in the driver spec, when i try to do rpm build, i get this error. I tried the rpm build installing kernel-devel-i686 pkg but it only shoots back with
error: Failed build dependencies:
kernel-devel-i586 = package is needed by hp-nx_nic-4.0.544-2.src
But when I installed kernel-devel-i586 pkg for kernel 2.6.30 the rpm build continued beyond this error point only to give some other RPM build error atleast to say there was no missing kernel-devel pkg error. Has anybody come across any such error with any other driver? or nx_nic in specific? Does this error mean kernel-devel-i586 a MUST for this driver? As far as I know there is no -i586 pkg for kernel 2.6.33 when i searched in kernel-devel repository! I am not sure, if this forum is right place for posting this question. If not, pls re-direct me to the right one.

In our environment we are using EMC for storage. We are using Qlogic provided drivers and PowerPath and the OS is RHEL5.3. Currently we have 2 Luns connected in one of our server (emcpowera & emcpowerb) and storage team has allocated another 100Gb Lun to that system, my doubt is if I execute "ql-dynamic-tgt-lun-disc.sh" script that would be enough to detect the Lun and see the device under /dev/ as emcpowerc or I need to execute "powermt config" and "powermt save" commands also.

I just had the great pleasure of switching from standard DSL to BT infinity (fibre optics) which included switching my DSL Belkins router for a new cable BT home hub unfortunatly. My PS3 went online wirelessly fine, all our iPads/Pods/Phones went on ok wirelessly and 2 out of 3 wired Ubuntu 11.04 desktops went online ok. I also have a Macbook dual booting 11.04 but haven't tried it yet. The problem is my computer which is wired the same isn't working, I can get it to say connected sometimes and UbuntuOne did say it was updating a file but then cuts out, I just can't seem to get connected to the internet!
I didn't change anything from the previous day, just switched it on. The only significant difference I can think of between my computer and the other desktops is mine has the KDE desktop installed.
Things I've tried:
- Restart router
- Boot into different DE eg. normal, classic, KDE
- Unplug ethernet cable and plug it back in
- Restart computer
My computer is connected using the powerline system along with 1 of the other desktops so it can't be that, it must be something at my end.

I am trying to setup a blade server that has a QLOGIC 4062 mezzanine card to handle the iscsi traffic coming from an HP MSA 2312i SAN. I cannot seem to figure out how to get the HBA to talk to the SAN. Just to ensure the SAN was setup OK, I used the onboard netextreme NIC w/iSCSI to connect to the SAN with iscsiadm. This all works no problem. BUT, I bought the mezzanine cards to take this load of my NICs.
I know that the OS sees the two ports on the mezzanine card as dmesg shows them. This is my first time configuring a separate HBA on a blade system, so I'm kinda lost what to do with them. I have entries in the modprobe.conf file for eth2 and eth3 aliased to qla4xxx. What I am not sure about is the config for each eth2/3 device. If I ifconfig my device to the specific ip and subnet/netmask my SAN is on, I can get any response from the SAN.
Also I would have expected iscsiadm -m iface to pick up on the qlogic devices, but they don't show up in the ifaces directory. I tried to manually create an iface file for each, and it seems to be ok with that, but when I try to discover targets, I get communication errors. (I am compiling a file with all the outputs from various commands and errors, and will put them here once I have them).
What I don't understand is the process of setting up an HBA. I am quite able to setup iscsi over the regular NICs, been doing that for a while, but these HBAs have me stumped.
I also installed the qlogic qla4xxx driver and SANSurfer, but SANsurfer didn't see the HBAs. I think this was due to the age of the sansurfer software...other people have reported this as well.

When I'm on Vista (I dual boot by the way) I see that my hard drive is about 13Gb smaller than it used to be, but I have no access to Ubuntu's files. However, when I am on Ubuntu I have access to a drive (is it a drive?) I believe is called OS and when mounted it lets me access all of Vista's documents.
Also I do not understand the difference between /home, OS, and System Files (It might be named something else, but the icon looks like a hard drive I believe).
I realize all this is pretty vague, but do you know a way to block this connection? I feel like Harry Potter looking into Voldemort's mind (lol).
PS Despite the Voldemort reference I am not a MS Windows hater.

I have an IBM ThinkPad W700 running 64 bit Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. At the office I normally connect it to the Ethernet since it's never connected very reliably to the wifi there (drops out 2 or 3 times per day, usually at the worst possible time, of course), but it always worked just fine with Netgear WGR614v5 at home... until a week or two ago.
I used to be able to come home, take the laptop out of suspend mode, and it would connect to the wifi. Occasionally there'd be some hitch and I'd have to restart the network manager (sudo /etc/init.d/network-manager restart) but this was only sometimes, and when I did, it'd always work. But now, when I get home from work, I need to restart the entire system to get it to connect properly again. Without restarting the whole system, it either doesn't scan for wifi networks, it doesn't find any wifi networks, it keeps stuffing up my wifi password, or it connects and gets 0% signal.
Presumably, some driver was updated recently and it doesn't work so well. What's the easiest way to find out what drivers have been updated lately, and revert to a previous version? And what else can I try restarting so I don't have to restart the entire system? I've tried /etc/init.d/network-manager restart, /etc/init.d/networking restart, /etc/init.d/network-interface restart, and restart network-manager. I've also tried turning the wireless switch at the front of the laptop off and on, many times.
Code:
$ lspci -nn
[...]
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless Wifi Link 5300 [8086:4236]
[...]
$ ifconfig wlan0
[Code]...
The info above is when I've taken my laptop out of suspend mode and it won't connect to the network. lsmod doesn't say anything about wifi nor wireless; iwlist does see my network, which my older Januty laptop is connected to without drama.
