SAN admin needs me to change the host port_type from an NLPort to an FPort,is[/sys /class /fc_host/host1/port_type] however i can not find anywhere to change this.the driver in question is Fusion MPT.

I'm new to this environment. I'm currently using OpenSuse 11.2 freshly installed. I'm attempting to install FCoE as a target on one box and an initiator on another. I've gone to the Open-FCoE.org site and got the tar file open-fcoe-2.6.34.tar.gz and attempted to install it, but there appear to be missing dependencies, such as libhbalinux. However, the more I seem to install, the more there are unresolved dependancies. I've followed the Open_FCoE Target and Iniator Quick Starts, but I'm running into many missing souce dependencies. What exactly I need in the way of packages, files, etc and how to install them? Is there any documentation of how to install FCoE from scratch?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been running Debian for a while, and now have the chance to do some enterprise-level experimentation. I stumbled across a very cheap EMC Clariion CX300 fibre RAID unit on eBay with 10 disks (£90!), so I snapped it up with a fibre HBA. It's not a SAN, technically a DAS in its current configuration. I'd like to know how hard it is to set up one of these as an actual disk device in Debian.I tried installing the HBA (an Agilent Tachyon XL2 PCI-X card, 32 and 64-bit modes) in my current 'live' server (a Celeron 1.2GHz-based machine), but while Debian detected it as a FC controller card, mapping the LUNs within Navisphere on the CX to the host caused nothing (obvious) to show up in the OS. From what I've read about setting up SANs (not DASs, there seems to be precious little info on setting up these), there's firmware involved with the card, and there are no references to getting a Tachyon running under Linux.
I also snagged a good deal on a PowerEdge 1850 server, but as it's the PCI-Express version, the Tachyon won't fit, so I'm considering buying a PCI-E HBA. I found a QLogic QLE2460 for a good price, but I'm hesitant to buy it, in case I still can't get Debian to see the disks. I'd most like to have the device connected to the PowerEdge instead of the Celeron machine. Have I missed a step in the configuration, or is there anything I can do to test if the system is working as it should be? The units we use at work are much simpler: set the RAIDs up, map the host LUNs and the disk shows up in Windows. I'm also sure I've set everything up correctly on the CX, as the same LUN is available to Windows. We have a SuSE/SLES 9 server that boots from a fibre channel card, using volumes from a NetApp filer.
We previously had the server booting from the LUNs on the filer, but after some tinkering around with the fibre channel BIOS, we have the situation where the LUNS seem to be mounted, the OS boots, starts to initialise everything but then stalls, saying:
We have tried loads of combinations of settings in the BIOS and fibre channel BIOS without any success or any idea what may have caused the error.
Can the fibre channel switch in the centOS5.3 cluster edition be switched for a regular router or hub?
If so how would one do this? If not why does the switch have to be fibre channel?
I find myself in unfamiliar territory. I am attempting to get a Dell M610 (in an M100e) running Ubuntu 9.1 64bit to talk to a Dell EMC Fibre Channel Array. The Dell has an Emulex card in it and it appears that the driver is loaded OK. What I am not sure on is what to do next! I have the SAN end configured but how do I get my LUN mounted on Ubuntu ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a fresh installation of CentOS 5 I'm using for a server, and I'm having issues with port configuration. I have iptables running, and it started with no /etc/sysconfig/iptables file. I added a few basic rules (port 53, port 10000 for webmin), saved the file, and restarted the service. I tried connecting to webmin, scanned ports, and traffic was blocked. I set iptables to allow all traffic and restarted the service, and it still showed basically every port as being blocked. It seems port 80 and port 22 work for some reason, even when I tell iptables to block all ports.
I'm not sure what's going on here. Iptables is reading the /etc/sysconfig/iptables file, and if I use lynx localhost:someport it responds as it should according to the file. However, if I try connecting by IP, it's like there's some other firewall or something running that does whatever it's configured to do.....

View 2 Replies View RelatedPC seems to run fine in single channel mode but monitor reports no input in dual channel mode and memtest86+ lists from 1-3 errors per pass in single channel mode. Motherboard (Gigabyte P43T-ES3G) can't be set for the 1.65 volts required by the RAM (2x2 of OCZ3P1333LV4GK PC3 10666). The mobo voltage choices are 1.6 or 1.7 volts. I have tried both and increased the MCH voltage from 1.1 v to 1.2 v, but so far can't get it to run in dual channel mode at all and single channel mode seems to run fine but I still get errors in memtest86+. Also tried optimized Bios settings and loosened memory timings (from 7-7-7-16 to 8-8-8-27 and tRFC 60 to 70) and reset Command Rate from 0 to 2. CPU is Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz, PSU is rated at 400 watts, Video card is Gigabyte GT220.

When I try to use airplay-ng for the packet injection, it always gives me the error " wlan0 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6". I've tried setting wlan0 to channel 6 manually, but that doesn't help. I spent a while searching for a solution, but it seemed like each page had a different, usually highly complex solution, that still doesn't work. I have the most recent drivers for my wireless card, and it meets all the requirements. So, is there any solution to this that will actually work?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSetting up a new Centos 5.5 server with an LSI Logic 7402XP fiber channel HBA card connected by fiber to an enclosure with 28 SATA drives.This is just a bunch of disks.I want to mount them /disk1, /disk2,disk28. No RAID or LVM. After connecting the dsisks and rebooting there are 28 new devices /dev/sdc, /dev/sdd, ...
/dev/sdad. Going to /sys/class/scsi_disk will list all of them. Pick any one and go into device and you can cat the vendor and model and state is "Running." But try parted /dev/sdc and it just quitts. fdisk and mkfs produce errors. Attepting to read or write the device directly with dd fails. The mpt fusion kernel mods are present. I'm pretty sure this hardware is on the suuported list. And I've tried swapping out the card and cables in case of bad hardware. What am I missing to be able to partition and mkfs these disks?

on my dual HD5500/GT940M. I can not turn on Nvidia. just install bumblebee and got the error "unknown header type 7f" if I remove bumblebee, Nvidia 340 loaded but system run on HD5500, no way to use Primus or to switch to 2nd card.
View 0 Replies View RelatedThis started happening about 2-3 weeks ago when i noticed our backups weren't running anymore. whenever i try to run ANY type of scp command I get the following error: warning: Unrecognized configuration parameter permitlocalcommand ssh: FATAL: Illegal -o parameter "PermitLocalCommand no" lost connection
I checked the /etc/ssh/ssh_config file and there was a command PermitLocalCommand commented out, but for testing I even totally removed that line and then in scp forced the use of that file via scp -F /etc/ssh/ssh_config ......
and I still get the same error. This command is nowhere is any of my ssh config files so im at a loss here on how im supposed to fix this!! I even checked my home directory for maybe a ssh config file that might be overridding the system config but nothing.
Can anyone here point me to a walk-through or discussion of how to use Webmin to set up port forwarding/NAT on a dual-NIC Centos 5.3 box? The layout will be simple:
Internet --- NIC1 [CentOS Box] NIC2 --- Switch to other PCs
We have a BUNCH of exposed services that are on special ports -- for example, to connect to one machine, you go in with [IP_Address]:12000, and to connect to another, [IP_Address]:12002, etc., etc. We're currently using OpenSuse 10.3 on this box, and YaST makes this criminally easy (you give it the incoming port number and the destination IP/port numbers and it just works). But OpenSuse 10.3 is nearing EOL, we're buying a new machine, and I'd like to use CentOS on the new one.
I've read the sparse Webmin documentation in their Wiki, and it leads one to believe that you simply insert a "NAT" rule. But there's obviously something they're leaving out. I *am* opening the ports in the firewall. But when I log in to [IP_Address]:port, it just times out. The port forwarding never occurs. The test in this case is SSH, and I know that SSHD is working properly because I can log into that machine just fine from another PC on the same internal subnet.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI just had the great pleasure of switching from standard DSL to BT infinity (fibre optics) which included switching my DSL Belkins router for a new cable BT home hub unfortunatly. My PS3 went online wirelessly fine, all our iPads/Pods/Phones went on ok wirelessly and 2 out of 3 wired Ubuntu 11.04 desktops went online ok. I also have a Macbook dual booting 11.04 but haven't tried it yet. The problem is my computer which is wired the same isn't working, I can get it to say connected sometimes and UbuntuOne did say it was updating a file but then cuts out, I just can't seem to get connected to the internet!
I didn't change anything from the previous day, just switched it on. The only significant difference I can think of between my computer and the other desktops is mine has the KDE desktop installed.
Things I've tried:
- Restart router
- Boot into different DE eg. normal, classic, KDE
- Unplug ethernet cable and plug it back in
- Restart computer
My computer is connected using the powerline system along with 1 of the other desktops so it can't be that, it must be something at my end.
I am running fedora 8 on a Dell 2950 with a qlogic fibre channel card.is attached to a Dell/clarion AX100.I had a drive assigned to this server which had been working for approximately a year now.Recently during a power failure things turned ugly. Rebooting didn't fix things.I unassigned/reassigned the drive, rebooted, still no good.Funny thing when I unassigned the drive and reboot the system.still see /dev/sdb but no partitions and fdisk -l does not display /dev/sdb.I even did "echo 1 > /sys/block/sdb/device/delete"

when i open the shell console i get this error message Konsole is unable to open a PTY (pseudo teletype). It is likely that this is due to an incorrect configuration of the PTY devices. Konsole needs to have read/write access to the PTY devices.Now from what i have read i need to change some permissions, but i have no idea how The second problem related to Terminal, no command prompt appears so i cant type anything to run a programme

The way this seems to work is to create a pseudo-tty and somehow link or configure it to point to the serial server's IP/port #'s.

Once you have VLC open, select file, it only lists certain file types. Now if you go down to the bottom you can tell it to use other types (like *.*). How does one set it so one does not have to go down and change the file types every time? So that it shows all file types, all the time, by default.

View 13 Replies View RelatedWe new have server with VmWare ESXi4.1 and we created virtual machine with CentOS5.6.This CentOS5.6 virtual machine will be used as webserver. We need to backup all files and have access to these files. We are going to keep all websites, databases, backups on data storage (NetApp FAS2000 series).
We have two options to how to use this storage:
1: We can mount storage volume directly to CentOS5.6 by NFS.
2: We can add storage via NFS to VmWare and then add new virtual disks to CentOS5.6 by VmWare vSphere client.
What option would you recommend to use? Which option is better, faster and more secure? My thoughts:If we mount storage volume directly to CentOS5.6 so we can access .snapshot directory there is all snapshots. So it's easy to access all backed up files. NetApp has snapshot system and we can schedule to make snapshots automatically, so we don't need to setup any additional backup utilities in CentOS5.6. But we don't have any NetApp snapshot restoring software license so copy/paste from .snapshot directory is only option.
If we add storage to VmWare firstly (by NFS) and then add new virtual hard disks to CentOS5.6 by VmWare vSphere client so we have to setup rsnapshot(or any similar utility) to make backups in CentOS5.6. But NetApp will also make backups of .vmdk files. So it's like double backups, lol :) If storage crashes so we screwed in both ways, I think.
On this moment i build an webenvironment with wordpress, apache2, debian 8. On this moment i try to impelement Varnish.
By default this application use the port 6081. I try to put apache on port 8080. This already works but i get varnish not running on port 80.
You can see below that varnish still listen to the default port 6081. How can i fix this?

To test another port i have also try to start Varnish on port 85.

I have restart the apache and varnish services. I have also rebooted the server but varnish will not listen on port 80 (or other non default ports). On port 6081 the application works fine. But how can i fix this ?
