Software :: Pygtk - Updating Status Bar During Long Operation?

Mar 28, 2011

I'm trying to write a gui front-end for fsarchiver using pygtk. It mostly works, but I'd like to update the front-end's status bar while fsarchiver is running. I've placed the code for the actual call to fsarchiver in one thread, and the code to update the status bar in another thread as shown below. Messages from show_progress() get printed in the terminal window, as expected. I've tried adding

Code:
while gtk.events_pending():
gtk.main_iteration_do(False)

but obviously, I'm not doing it correctly because the status bar text does not update. Is what I'm trying to do possible, and, if so, how should it be coded?

Here's the code snippet from my calling routine:

Code:
self.activethreads=2
thread.start_new_thread(self.do_fsarchive, (my_cmd,))
print "start 2nd thread now
"
thread.start_new_thread(self.show_progress,(10,status_text))
And here are the two functions:

General :: SSH - Error Executing Script (Output For Only One Server)

Jul 14, 2010

I am writing a script which will fetch data from different machines and display it on single terminal. I have created a file named SERVERNAMES containing ip address of machines I need to monitor. Then for every IP I am issuing ssh command to get date on that machine. However When I am trying it on the script it is just giving me output of first server and it is ignoring rest servers mentioned in file. ssh works fine without password for all machines mentioned in SERVERNAMES.

Code:
# cat SERVERNAMES
10.180.45.231
10.180.45.235
10.180.45.238
10.180.45.211
Script

Code:
#!/bin/bash
while read line
do
#Calculate Load on remote machine.
Date=`ssh -T -q $line date`
echo "Date on $line is:$Date"
done < SERVERNAMES

Code:
output.
Date on 10.180.8.231 is:Wed Jul 14 10:48:46 IST 2010
I am not getting the output for .
Code:
10.180.45.235
10.180.45.238
10.180.45.211
Is there anything wrong in ssh?

General :: Chroot Error - Cannot Change Root Directory To /jail - Operation Not Permitted

Apr 18, 2011

I am trying to create a jailed shell for a user Don($UID '500') using my own method(I don't want to use any ready-made "jailkit"). The user don should get a home directory /jail/don instead of /home/don when he login via SSH (So that he will not able to see any other files/directories on the system)

This is what I have done.

Quote:

Code:

It works without any issue ....Home directory changes to /jail/don when I ssh to the system as user don. ie: #ssh don@192.168.0.66

Then I added a chroot command to this code.

Code:

Unfortunately , now I am getting an error message saying that "chroot: cannot change root directory to /jail: Operation not permitted" .. I am not sure how to rectify this error... Is my approach correct to get a jailed shell using /etc/profile file ?

General :: Error - The Session Manager Initialization System Process Terminated Unexpectedly With A Status

Jun 5, 2011

I installed slackware 12.1 from files i downloaded and converted to cd (images). There are six "disks" i downloaded from the slackware site and converted to images via a homemade .cmd in windows xp and then burned using imgburn.

I partitioned my hd (canibalized from an acquaintance's emachine and connected it to my desktop (1G ram, 2Ghz processor). Booted from disk 1 and fomatted the 80G HD for 2 partitions of linuxswapable at 2G apeice and 2 partitions of bootable linux. (Because i want to try another distro later). I ran the setup installing most everything and all seemed to go well. After i exited setup and restarted, it identifed the cd/hd as normal and then went into some sort of recovery mode with the emachine logo call pcangel, after which it tells me.

STOP: c0000021a (fatal system error) The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000 0x00000000). the system has been shut down. So, is this indeed an xp error message, and if so, why am i getting it after formatting everything?
