General :: Adding A Driver To RHEL 6 Beta ISO?
May 4, 2010
I am in attempt to add a pvscsi driver into RHEL 6 Beta OS. What I did is followed this:
1. Downloaded the complete ISO into /home/jack/RHEL folder
2. Follow these steps:
#cd isolinux/
boot.cat grub.conf isolinux.bin splash.jpg vesamenu.c32
boot.msg initrd.img isolinux.cfg tmp vmlinuz
call initro memtest TRANS.TBL
[Code].....

I tested with RHEL6 Beta and they don't include pvscsi driver we use for Vmware ESX.We did asked them to include this driver with new RHEL 6 Beta 1 but they din't. Now we expect it to be shipped with RHEL 6 Beta 2. How can I track the same beforehand. Is there any repository where can I track whether they have plan to ship it or not?

Recently RHEL 6 Beta 2 released and I want to install it through kickstart but it stucked at one time while Re-initializing the disk partition. If I manually click on "Re-initialize All" it goes fine but I am in verse to ignore the message box and proceed automatically through kickstart. Anyone who have come across this issue?

- Off a vanilla F11 livecd install, I stuck a 3 at the end of my grub line to boot into runlevel 3. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember (since Fedora 3). However now it seems to break and gives me a GRUB error. I press e to edit, and delete the 3. BUt it still throws and error?!?!?!?! Has this facility (ie sticking a number at the end of the grub line) been changed and why is my grub line now broken even though I've gone back and deleted the 3?
- If I install Fedora 12 beta now, will yum take me all the way into production when it goes live (assuming no killer bugs encountered), I'm guessing thats a yes?

I'm setting up Suse 11.2 on PC w/ an Nvidia GT 240. I used the 1-click installation, found it didn't work, then discovered this thread saying the 240 requires the newest beta driver, 195.30, which is not available yet in 1-click and has to be manually installed.
However, that driver is no longer available on Nvidia's download site, either through their menu or the direct link given in the forum thread:
Unix Drivers Portal Page [URL]
Nor do I see it in the Nvidia repository.
why it was removed? Is there a major problem with it? If not, any idea how I can get it?
And if I can find an install it, I assume I need to first uninstall the 1-click version?

I am using 10.10 64bit with a Nvidia GeForce Graphic Card on my Acer 5741G 434 Notebook.
I have always used Compiz and without it I can barely use my Notebook. Apparently I had to install the Nvidia accelerated 3d Drivers (current version) in order to use Compiz.
However I cannot enable the "normal" visual effects (right click on desktop / change bakcground/ visual effects) that are necessary for using compiz.
Also everytime I reboot my resolution goes back to 800x600 although I saved the resolution to 1366. So everytime I start my Notebook I have to go to the Nvidia X server settings and set the resolution to 1366.
What I tried until now:
- I tried to reinstall Ubuntu twice!
- I tried to unistall all nvidia Drivers and install through the terminal using the command "sh" the nvidia drivers i downloaded from their website
- I tried to use the nouveau open source driver
Additional Information:
- when I boot a logo of the nvidia BETA driver appears
- for the past couple days I even experienced another problem: the windows do not have the minimize/close and maximize buttons
I am even willing to install the System again!
I had nothing but problems with the latest 10.10 ubuntu distribiution.

I am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!

So here's the schedule for 10.04:
April 8th, 2010 - Beta 2 release;
April 22nd, 2010 - Release Candidate;
April 29th, 2010 - Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?

I just got a new vVidia card for its HDMI capability for my mediacenter and installed the nvidia drivers suggested by the hardware managers.
Right now im connected to a VGA input on a sharp TV, this card/driver like my previous embedded intel card/driver can't make heads or tails of this TV. Intel called it "unknown' nvidia thinks its a CRT (/laugh at a 42'' CRT) so the resolutions it sticks me with are laughable.
Before i used to use xrandr to add a 1600x1400 resolution (though my goal is 1960x1080, full 1080p, i just cant run that through a VGA input) and all was... acceptable.
Now i can no longer do this, since nvidai drivers seem to dominate my attempts. I have gathered i should be able to alter my xorg.conf (which i used to not have, this machine started at 9.10 which is trying to get away from that file) to support som additional resolutions. But i swear i am all thumbs when it comes to touching that file... it always ends with a command line crawl to revert to my backup
SO, anyone know what needs to be altered with this file OR any other method i might try?

I recently switched from 10.04.1 Ubuntu that I had for only about a week, to Ubuntu 10.10 Beta. I switched because I heard that 10.10 comes with firmware right out of the box for BCM4312. I am new with Linux, and Ubuntu, but I do know what some of the commands do and etc. I got 10.10 installed, but the wireless options say "Not connected|Firmware Missing" What do I need to activate the firmware, or install it?
