I would like to use two monitors with my desktop, so connected them the other day and it worked straight away, which is good but... The monitor configuration app always want the primary monitor to be on the left hand side, thus it always extend my desktop right. Can I do anything to extend my desktop to the left instead of to the right so I can have background application on the screen to the left?

Description of Problem:There is another thread that discussed this same problem that I'm having: However that thread is so old that the suggestions in it no longer work in Ubuntu 10.04 and for whatever reason I can not make a reply to that thread.As in the above thread, I've tried other input devices and rebooting the computer and using other USB ports, and my mouse still intermittently double left clicks randomly at times when I've only clicked the left mouse button once and at times and places when it should only produce a single click such as when selecting a drop down menu.
Has any one else had this problem, and does any one have any idea how to fix it or to trouble shoot this a bit more? Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to further clarify or troubleshoot this issue.

And third, what would be the best internal representation of integers? A C++ int seems simplest, but limited. Using GMP seems more versatile, but I'm afraid it might seriously slow down the interpreter compared to C++ ints.
When I try to login as me - it gets pretty far but then something happens and automatically logs out. This happens in Gnome, Kde too. Now - I have no problem logging in a Root. Is there a way I can try to stop the login process before it kicks me out, or is there a way to look at some files to tell me what's going on?

The windows server which is dropping files into it is able to make the file visible but the app running on the linux can't fetch it because the name is 'unexpected'if I create a file anywhere else e.g. in /tmp/ with the name response.txt it is fine. When I ls I see r?sponse.Can you advise me if I should be looking at the smb config AND the host config and give me some pointers as to where to get started trying to solve this.

The laptop is running gentoo linux. Here is the fstab file and instead of having "boot" on its own partition I decided to have both "/" and "boot" in the same partition. This has never caused any problems before so I don't understand what the problem is now.

On our app server the logs from the Sybase Mobilink service get logged to /var/log because of that I did a chmod a+rx /var/log and all is well until.... the next day QA logs in goes to check the logs and gets:

My mouse cursor has acquired some strange background image showing what looks to be paragraphs of chinese glyphs (they are too small to make out clearly). This background image is contained in rougly a 1 inch square with the mouse cursor hot spot in the upper left-hand corner. The mouse cursor is visible, but whatever is under those glyphs is covered.
I've tried the mouse configuration gui -- but it says nothing of background images for the mouse. I've also deleted and recreated my xconfig.org file to see if that somehow got mangled. I've been searching the web for a couple of hours, but cant seem to find anything related to my problem.

No matter what layout options I choose, I can't seem to get it working.I also have the same setup on my laptop and work desktop and it works without issue. I've ensured my .Xmodmap doesn't exist.When I say "works intermittently" I mean when I'm trying to use "alt+b, alt+f" navigation in emacs or bash, it doesn't work but if I click around a bit then try again, it works. Also, I use alt+arrows to switch workspaces and that always works

Basically earlier today i figured i wanted to try out backtrack 4 but I could only have a maximum of 4 partitions on an hd at a time.
So i deleted my partition that contained my arch home directory (didn't really have any data on it and i figured i could just make a new one later) to create an extended partition to put backtrack on. Well all went well except now when I select arch instead of backtrack i get a disk check error.
This is the first part of the error, I can't exactly copy and paste it as its on my laptop. code...
Ubuntu one does not synchronize files since I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04. The preferences panel keeps showing "Synchronization in progress...", but files are not downloaded from the repository. It does not show any error message.

I have a doubt that some clients are connecting from different places as the nodeID is changed SO I need to make a script which reads both logs that are called server1.log and server2.log and where it finds a nodeID which does not match in both logs it action with fail2ban
I don't know whether this can be done directly via fail2ban since it is the program which I know that reads between logs but as far as I know it cannot match data with another log

As you see, there are logs from individual modules that have been captured concurrently. For example, there are logs from IPTR,SNMP,HLR,TCAP,XAPP,and SCCP modules but they are coming concurrently.Each log has the header name of its accompanied module in the beginning. Last time I logged in I selected the session as TWM and that got me into the T windows manager just fine. Now when I log out and try to log back into a GNOME session, it will still log me into the TVM sessionI have tried restarting the boxHowever, when I remote log in to the machine it will let me get on the GNOME session just fine. I'm guessing this is probably a really simple fix, however I am a Linux newbie and doing a google search isn't yielding me what I'm looking for.
