Fedora :: Use To Configure FPGA Via USB Doesn't?

I just installed Fedora 12 a couple weeks ago, and I dual-booted it with Vista 64-bit. The only thing that kept me from switching before was the fact that I work with FPGAs, field-programmable gate arrays. The development environment I use, Xilinx WebPACK 12.1, has a Linux version, which I've installed, but the program I have to use to configure the FPGA via USB does not. I have a Digilent Nexys 2 board, and I decided to go the VM route for running those programs from Digilent. VirtualBox was ridiculously easy to get going, except for USB. What's strange is that I've been able to get the guest system, Vista 64-bit, to recognize and set up the drivers for my board, but the program, ExPort, isn't able to communicate with my board.

I'm trying to use the Boot.Fedoraproject.org (bfo) solution to install Fedora 13.
As soon as boot starts it tries to connect to net0 device which faults.
The point is that net0 seems to be my wlan device whereas the LAN connection is defined as net1.
I'm able to break the sequence (ctl-B), open the LAN connection (ifopen net1) and even 'dhcp net1' which results in an 'OK'. (At this point I'm not sure of the real result as I don't see my IP)
In any case so far I can't follow as I don't know the commands I had to put (set. chain, ...). Neither I know how to return control to the original sequence (if it were possible).

Doing a fresh F12 install on a Dell Vostro 430. Machine needs to have 2 Network adapters for our setup.The install seems to go just fine but the on board network adapter doesn't appear to get detected/configured. If I look in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts all I find is ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-lo. Looking carefully at ifcfg-eth0 I see it's the second card that I've put in the machine.As a test I removed the second network card and did another fresh install of F12. This time in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts all I have is ifcfg-lo. When I go to system>Administration>Network Device Control I see no network devices displayed.
Is this an issue others have seen with F12 or is it possible my on board network adapter has an issue?BTW I did check the BIOS to be sure that Onboard Lan was enabled and it is.output from "lspci -k " with both cards installed on machine (I only listed Ethernet controllers)

Ive been using linux for a few months now and every now and again i come accross a program that doesnt have a rpm package but says that it can be installed on Fedora using source. I'm familiar with build essentials and the following commands:-
tar xzvf package.tar.gz
cd package
./configure
make
make install
but from what i have read fedora uses a differnet compiler. I'm trying to install Buddi budget manager and the ./configure command doesnt work, which im guessing is because it doesnt have a configure file? Can anyone confirm how to compile from source and whether there are any tutorials specific to fedora.

First time trying this. After trying to upgrade Mozilla, I received a warning that my GTK+ library needed to be upgraded from 2.8 to 2.10 or newer.
In trying to upgrade my GTK+ library following these instructions, I got to the ./configure step but then received the warning bash: ./configure: No such file or directory.
I've got an EEE PC, running Linux (i686, I believe). I'm not sure what additional information to provide.

I have a syslog server which is logging locally and also receiving syslogs from another device. The other device doesnt allow you to change the facility. The facility it is using is "4 - security/authorization messages". Is there anyway to configure syslog so that it writes the sec/auth logs in different places for both the local machine and the remote machine?

yesterday I installed openSUSE 11.2 on my laptop. But I'm having problem getting the wifi configured properly. During the installation I got the message "No network running" (which I also saw after the installation when using the network configuration module of YaST after switching from ifup to NetworkManager). After installation NetworkManager seemed to work fine, it detected my wifi card, found the network, and I could even connect to it. Then the problems began, no Internet connection. The first thing I tried was pinging Google which yielded an "unknown host" message. So I checked /etc/resolv.conf, to look for the DNS servers, which where missing.
I added them manually and tried again. Still no luck, so I started pinging my router, which worked, tried again pinging Google using one of there IP addresses, which failed. So I ran route to find out which routes where being used, this one gave an unexpected result, because it only showed the route to the local network (I'm not sure about the loopback one, because this was also a lot of times missing when testing):

Anyone noticing intermittent problems with the screensaver not kicking in or the display not sleeping? This is in gnome under F11.I have the Power Management Preferences set to put the display to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity and gnome screensaver is configured for 5 minutes idle time.On a regular basis, I'll leave my computer come back anda) the screensaver hasn't kicked inorb) the screensaver kicked in, but the power management features didn't kick in to put the display to sleep.It seems to be an intermittent problem and usually it goes away after I restart X, but then at some point it comes back. In the past, I've gotten in the habit of being logged in for weeks/months at a time but I find that I can't go more than a few hours without logging out and back in or else the screen won't go to sleep.

I checked /etc/sysconfig/named too... Seems to have no effect on my brand new install on Fedora 11. Host B stays basically un-configured.

I found a tool made for Ubuntu called Xautoclick. I downloaded it and it is called "xautoclick-0.30.tar.gz" The installation notes say "tallatBe sure you have the proper development packages for your distribution installed (i.e. something like xserver-xorg-dev, gtk2-dev, et cetera). After that, run:
./configure make sudo make install" I have no clue what to do... I typed in "./configure" in the terminal and it says "bash: ./configure: No such file or directory?

I'm using BT5 with KDE on my laptop and actually quite like it (KDE that is, liking BT5 goes without saying ) and have managed to disbale most of the eye-candy but couple things remain that I haven't figured out:
1- How do you disable all transition effects (e.g. menus fading away and having shadows)? (I already got all window manager, composition(?) effects disabled and set the overall system to "Low CPU, Very High Resolution".)
2- The "Windows flag" key is mapped to Meta so it can't be assigned as "Open KMenu" - key, I'm not too keen on re-assigning it to F14 or something so the question is, what key combo you got to open the application menu?
3- In XFCE (and other "alternative" DMs), you can have full application menu on right-click when pointer is over the desktop, is that possible to do on KDE?

I am trying to configure Fedora 11 to run on two monitors. However, after hooking the second monitor up, I can not extend the display to it. Hell, in the display options, it doesn't even show that a second monitor is connected. Restarting X does not help either.

I have a USB CDC device that I want to use in Fedora 13.I have a USB to TTL converter that I want to use to connect a GPS with TTL output to my PC, since this PC does not have a serial port. I am running windows7 Ultimate, Fedora 13 and WinXp. The converter uses an FTDI chip.When I connected the device in windows 7 it showed as a USB device. However using the vendor supplied driver enabled it to be treated it as a COM port and I used a vendor supplied terminal to communicate with the device. The device however behaved abnormally and after a reboot stopped working showing an enumeration error.I switched to Fedora 13, where the device showed as /dev/ttyUSB0. I used stty -F /dev/USB0 ispeed 4800 and then cat /dev/ttyUSB0 to communicate with this device. It worked fine. However after a reboot it started behaving weird.
I used dmesg | grep tty and the output showed the device as being connected and disconnected frequently, although I did not disconnect it.lsusb sometimes showed an entry Bus 006 Device 002: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) ICand at other times showed no such device. I thought there was a problem in the hardware.But then i connected the device to WinXP. It showed up as COM3 in the device manager. I changed the speed to 4800 bps and set flow control to XON/XOFF in the property of COM3. In the Hyperterminal application that ships with WinXp I set 8 bit data and no parity bit. It worked flawlessly. I have to make these settings at every reboot.However I want to use it under Linux (fedora 13). My guess is that if i can somehow set the XON/XOFF and 8 bit data, no parity things it would work fine

I am very new to linux. So i have a little idea about it. I want to configure DNS server in Fedora 10. I am confused where to put the master file and where to put the database zone file. what else should i do to run the dns completely. Also , my protocol is this: I have a adsl connection in my office via adsl broadband router. This gives a private IP to my linux server. Is there a way to use configure options with yum for packages? For example, i've got a lamp setup, and right now (after installing F11) i got a msqli class not found error, which means that it is not loaded into php. I see that it can be reconfigured with certain options, but i yummed it, and i'd like to keep it that way. I tried a yum reinstall, but it didn't work.
