Fedora :: Update HTTP Error 302 / After Getting All The Filelists?
Jan 30, 2010
I recently installed fedora 12 x86_64 after learning that its faster than x86.Now i am getting error while updating:after getting all the filelists etc. it shows all the packages to be updated, all is usual untill now, but then it again starts downloading filelistsdb which never happened in any fedora installation before including x86 fedora 12.
I have 10.04 installed and Update Manager has worked fine for months, until about 2 weeks ago. When I ask Update Manager to update its indexes, I get this error message returned almost immediately
"Method http has died unexpectedly! Sub-process http returned an error code (127) Method http has died unexpectedly! Sub-process http returned an error code (127)
The internet connection is working fine on this machine. I have another 10.04 machine sitting right next to the problem computer, and Update Manager works fine on that machine. I verified that all settings are the same between the 2 machines in these areas
1. All Update Manager SETTINGS (including SOFTWARE SOURCES)
2. System -> Preferences -> NETWORK PROXY (which is a Direct Internet Connection)
3. System -> Preferences -> NETWORK CONNECTION
It appears to me that the connection to Ubuntu repositories is failing but I can't find anything different between the 2 machines.
I am getting these error in RHEL 5.3 while i did "yum update".
---> Package libstdc++-devel.i386 0:4.1.2-46.el5_4.2 set to be updated ---> Package libstdc++-devel.x86_64 0:4.1.2-46.el5_4.2 set to be updated ---> Package libstdc++44-devel.i386 0:4.4.0-6.el5 set to be updated

The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.
I just upgraded from Fedora 10 to 11 using yum preupgrade method. After what seems to be a successful upgrade, I get 2 boot errors warning icon at the log-in screen - one for ntpd and the other for httpd, both fail.
When trying to start http by command line the following error line appears: Starting httpd: httpd: Syntax error on line 196 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod_file_cache.so into server: /etc/httpd/modules/mod_file_cache.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [FAILED]
In "Services" it shows httpd as being enabled, but not started. When I try to start it, it just gets stuck on refreshing.
I've tried to install Wine but I get this error: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 400 :http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/linux...ata/repomd.xml Trying other mirror.Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: adobe-linux-i386. Please verify its path and try again Not sure what is happening here. Can anyone give me some idea and maybe a way to overcome it?
I have been windows using for over years and now after seeing Linux in couple of colleagues desk, I liked and have installed Linux in my home desktop (Fedora 14). After installing Fedora 14, I tried upgrading my browser Firefox from 3.6.17 (which came by default) to Firefox 4.0. I googled and got the procedure for upgrading tirefox. from this link [URL]. I followed the exact steps and while I tried to install I get the following error. I tried enough to get rid of this problem but all attempts in vain.
The Error that I get is: [root@localhost yum.repos.d]# yum install firefox4 Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit Adding en_US to language list Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora-firefox4. Please verify its path and try again

Ubuntu 9.10 I have an installation of opendchub up and running, and users are able to connect and chat. However, users are unable to download each others' filelists. I've looked at opendchub's output at its most verbose level, and it looks like things should be working. Here's some of that output:
Code: Dec 19 23:24:54 PID: 2094 Received command from XXX.XXX.XXX.XX, type 0x8: $ConnectToMe zach XXX.XXX.XXX.XX:1412|$ConnectToMe zach XXX.XXX.XXX.XX:1412| Dec 19 23:24:54 PID: 2093 Received command from forked_process, type 0x80: $Script data_arrival ^E^Ebstern^E^E$ConnectToMe zach XXX.XXX.XXX.XX:1412|$Script data_arrival ^E^Ebstern^E^E$ConnectToMe zach XXX.XXX.XXX.XX:1412|
In my workplace, I can't update Centos using http protocol, but, it's possible with ftp (I tried with Debian and it's work). How to configure the repositories in Centos 5.5, to download the packages by FTP?
I have found that APACHE or 'httpd' is installed in my machine. But the problem is I can start or stop the httpd but whenever I load the url http://localhost in Mozilla it shows a page load error.I have done this ,
$ /etc/init.d/httpd start then this $ /etc/init.d/httpd graceful
I`m having a problem with upgrading my Fedora 11 to either Fedora 12 or Fedora 13. When i start preupgrade, it lists all packages that need to be upgraded, but then it ends with the message that none of the mirrors can be found. I`m seeing the messages in the console, and indeed all the mirrors return "HTTP Error 404: Not Found". Any idea how to change this and eventually do an upgrade?. I also downloaded the Fedora 13 DVD, and tried to upgrade that way, but it never showed me the window which must give me the option to upgrade instead of doing a fresh install. The explanation in the official website clearly shows that this window exist, but after several tries with the DVD I did not get it.
I have installed XAMPP on my system and started it just fine, but for some reason when I type "http://localhost/myDirectory/index.php" into the address bar of a browser, I get a 404 error. I followed the instructions hereand after creating test.php, I was still not able to view it. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
After 2 months away from Fedora i am using it again, and used yum update to update stuff, everything was running fine, downloaded stuff, but 2 of the 666 stuff to install got error, here is:
running Ubuntu 10.10 and mozilla and seamonkey... Tried to access a website: [URL] and got the error: The page cannot be displayed You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. Please try the following: Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS)
I've made a terrible mistake that I changed files in /etc/yum.repo.d and /etc/yum.conf.Now I can't get update by yum update, saying that ERROR: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: base. Please verify its path and try again. Now I'd like to reset everything to default. What can I do now?
Using netcat, nc(1), craft a valid http/1.1 request for getting http headers (not the html file itself!) for the main index page of www dot aalto dot fi. What request method did you use? Which headers did you need to send to the server? What was the status code for the request? Which headers did the server return? Explain the purpose of each header.
nc -v www dot aalto dot fi 8080 HEAD / HTML/1.1 host: www dot aalto dot fi And it returns: 200 OK Content-Length: 858 Content-Type: text/html Last-Modified: Thu, 02 Sep 2010 12:46:01 GMT [Code]....
I really don't know what does it mean. Question 2: Using netcat, nc(1), start a bogus web server listening on the loopback interface port 8080. Verify with netstat(, that the server really is listening where it should be. Direct your browser to the bogus server and capture the User-Agent: header "Direct your browser to the bogus server and capture the User-Agent: header" I don't understand this question.
I installed Nagios on my Ubuntu 10.04 server using apt-get and when I accessed the web console, everything was OK. I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?
friends < I tried installing amanda like this: yum -y install amanda* Gathering header information file(s) from server(s) Server: Fedora Linux / stable for Red Hat Linux 3ES (i386)
[code].....
I tried yum because when i did the simple download o the newest amanda rpm and tried t install.. i get the following dependency problem..
[root@Mixer amanda-dwnload]# rpm -ivh amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libcurl.so.3 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4 libidn.so.11 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4 tar >= 1.14 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4
I do have yum installed -- that s when i do
yum --version 2.0.3
i see a vers num.it is a redhat system
uname -a Linux Mixer 2.4.21-58.EL #1 Tue Nov 4 11:55:15 EST 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux --- cat /etc/issue Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 9)
after i installed some linux mint packages, i get the following error. W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net lucid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 55708F1EE06803C5
its not related to the mint packages because i installed the keyring for that and since the error i have unchecked the linux mint repo. i have tried reinstalling the ubuntu-keyring package with no luck.
The problem here is how to point the error log to syslogd. Here is my syslog file, #vim /etc/syslog.conf og all kernel messages to the console. # Logging much else clutters up the screen. #kern.* /dev/console # Log anything (except mail) of level info or higher. # Don't log private authentication messages! .....
If I point the file, separatelt at httpd.conf for the errorlog, I'm getting the errog log. I'm using Centos 5.6.
I have a problem with GPG key, when I tried to run #yum updateI have got this errorwarning:rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID d05c057cGPG key retrieval failed: [Errno 14] HTTP eRROR 404: Not foundI used Centos 5.5.
I switched from Ubuntu to Fedora and I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding why I cannot update my system. Fedora seems to be a little bit more complicated than Ubuntu to update and to do other things... I'm still willing to try it because it has a good reputation and good reviews so I will go ahead and give it a shot but before I do that I need to update it. I have an HP pavilion notebook dv2000. Just installed Fedora 15 and my system is telling me that I have over 700 updates! when I click on install updates I get an error:
Transaction error An unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available on the detailed report. Then on the details this is what I get:
I've been running a SuseStudio-built VM for a few weeks with no issues. I built a new one recently, and now I can't configure a new vhost in Apache using the http-server module. It gives me this error. Screen shot 2010-11-06 at 11.42.24 AM.png. Why YaST suddenly decided that my hostnames aren't valid?
When I run sudo apt-get update I get the following message at the bottom:

I have tried numerous ways to add the keys i.e: gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys EF4186FE247510BE && gpg --export --armor EF4186FE247510BE | sudo apt-key add - However, I then get the following message:
