I have a fresh install and yet can't install anything. Everytime I run yum I get the below error messages. warning and still can't run yum. This is a fresh install, so I don't understand whats going on.
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
I just switched from Ubuntu to Fedora 13 because I was unable to get Ubuntu to connect to wireless networks. I tried everything suggested in help and forums, and kept getting "Bad Password" with WICD and Network Manager. Now, with Fedora...I still can't connect.
Problem #1: The guide says to "...make sure that the relevant wireless interface (usually eth0 or eth1) is controlled by NetworkManager," and that I do this via: System>Administration>Network
However, there is no Network option under System>Administration.
Problem #2: I open Network Manager, which displays a list of networks. I click on mine, configure it with WPA and the right password, and it fails to connect: "The network connection has been disconnected."
The machine boots, graphics come up, login window shows up, but after login there is only the background window (and mouse). My .xsession looks like this:
I have a lenovo x200 laptop running Fedora 14, fully up to date with the Fedora repository. Seemingly out of nowhere, some websites will no longer load. First it happened to www.facebook.com, next (after a day or so) wikipedia.org, now the Fedora forum. Other Internet access seems fine, but when I try to go to these pages I just get "unable to find host" errors. Its totally bizarre. It first happened in an airport so I thought it was just a strange network there, but now it happens at home. I can't get on these sites in firefox or elinks browsers (in a terminal) BUT I can ping both sites no problem. Also, the other computers in this house have no problem visiting these sites.
My laptop is currently running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a 320 GB HDD, which I have partitioned as follows. C: Drive as Windows 40 GB capacity and successively partitioned the rest of the drives for 50 GB capacity and left an unallocated space of 67 GB for fedora 13 x64 installation. The problem that I am facing is, that I am unable to install fedora on this unallocated space..even though I am checking the option for "Creating custom Layout". When I check the option for "Creating Custom Layout" Ive been shown with the only option to install fedora on the unused space on the HDD which is around 265 GB. I am also attaching a screen shot of my disk management. how I can install Fedora on this unallocated space of 67 GB?
I am using F10 desktop edition, all the computers using windows are able to access the shared folders over lan except me using F10. Linux OS : Fedora 10 (No graphical mode)Windows OS : XP and Windows Server NT...I am able to access from my windows to linux using following step//fedora10 ip username of admin and password...I am able to view the admin and shared printer of fedora 10.When i try to enter in the admin folder i am not able to access it. It is giving error "Access is denied".
I am trying to connect to a network printer Dell 3110cn from Fedora 14 x64. Till a few days ago, everything was fine. However, over the last few days, I am unable to print anything using my old settings and I am unable to print even if I delete the printer and reinstall it.
During setup, Fedora is able to connect to the printer and I am able to install the drivers and everything. But, when I print something (even the test page), I get the error message "Unable to write print data - Broken pipe'.
I have searched online quite a bit about this problem. Most suggestions were to look if the printer status was "Idle - Ready/Accepting Jobs" since the problem in those cases was that the printer status was "Printer not ready". But in my case, the printer is recognized but unable to print.

I have two integrated LAN's on the MB. All was OK in Windows and figured I'd do some work in Fedora. When I got there I had no internet. I messed around trying to get it working and gave up; went into Ubuntu; same deal. I booted Windows and the same; no network. I tried the other integrated connection and it worked. No way could I get the other nic to work so I tried shutting right down; pulled the plug; waited a few seconds; plugged it back and booted up and it's working again.
i tried to install F12 x86_64 on my new hp dv7-3020 with nvidia GT 230M. I've update all the system but i cannot install video driver. I tried with the official driver released by nvidia (Linux x64 AMD64/EM64T Display Driver 190.53) but it gave me an error "unable to load nvidia.ko fedora 12".
Everytime i try to install any app on fedora 7 i.e. RPM i get error message that says cannot get to interent, while i have access to internet on fedora ..
I just install windows 7 into my PC , after the installation , when i try to boot into Redhat Enterprise Linux 5, i got the following error
root (hd0,3) filesystem type unknown, partition type 0xf kernel /xen.gz-2/6.18..... error 17 : cannot mount the selected partition press anykey to continue
I had installed windows vista on my C drive on my compaq laptop. Then I installed Fedora 12 on another partition on LVM.I also had a boot partition and the mbr for fedora was installed on the first sector of the boot partition and on C drive i left the mbr of vista intact. Then i added entry for linux using easybcd 1.7.2.
Recently I removed vista to install Windows XP.I had thought that after installing xp,i would again use easybcd to boot fedora. But after installing easybcd,it didnt work. So,I thought i would install Windows 7,install its mbr and then edit it using easybcd to boot linux and then delete windows 7 files.I installed win 7 and added entry for linux in mbr using easybcd. Now i can boot windows XP and Windows 7,But when I try to boot fedora,it doesnt boot and instead of loading fedora 12 grub (the blue fedora graphical screen of grub) I get a black screen with a bash prompt and starting with grub written on it.I can issue some commands here like reboot but i cant boot fedora 12.How can I boot into fedora 12 ?
I dont want to install grub on the main mbr of windows and want to use the windows bootloader for booting all three OSes.It is because, certain options for windows like hibernate etc,get disabled if I replace the bootloader of windows with grub.
I'm sure the answer to this is easily available in lots of places, but I don't think I'm asking the right questions. I've been running Ubuntu for a year or two, and just installed F12 on a spare PC, specifically because I want to use Tellico 2.2, and F12 with KDE seems to be the only way to do it at the moment. In fact, my problem is probably more to do with KDE than Fedora, as I've only used Gnome up until now.
When I go to Computer, System Settings, Add and Remove Software, then search for Tellico, information about Tellico 2.2 appears, but the Apply button is greyed out. How do I install the software once I've found it?
I've recently updated my box from Fedora 12 to Fedora 13....today I wanted to install VLC and followed the procedures provided on VideoLAN's website on how to install VLC (See Below):
Use RPM Fusion for F11, F12 and F13 (available for x86, x86_64, ppc and ppc64) Install rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm for F11, F12 and F13.
I am using Fedora 14 x64 and I tried to install the ATI graphics driver on it, I have 256 MB integrated graphics card on motherboard. I found the problem of "Accelerated 3D graphics is not available, Desktop effects require hardware 3D support.
Then I unintstalled the graphics driver completely because it was'nt working properly and also was'nt able to open Desktop Effects.
Now, the problem is that I am not able to get into the desktop.
I have been running Fedora 15 for a about an month and a week ago I started to get messages on two machines to say it could not update. I am using the "software update" package. I am using Fedora 15 64 bit. Installed from a DVD originally on one machine and the other was updated from Fedora 14. Each machine is on a different network. I start the "software Upates" package. it gets the list of packages to be updated and then when I go to "install updates" I get the following message.
"Transaction error An unspecified transaction error has occurred. Under more details; Could not add package update for fedora-release rawhide-15-3 (noarch) update: fedora-release-rawhide-15-3 noarch" The repository for fedora is active in the repository list.
