I have a newly installed centos 5.5 x86_64 running as a guest on a xen environment. I've installed httpd, mysql, php, mod-php, cacti and some how mod-php i causing apache to exit with segmentation fault. I don't understand whats causing the problem, I have similar boxes with the same setup that works.
Segfault during boot of nvidia drivers, anyone know what's causing it? Boot log is here: [URL] It cites a segfault in my /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions at ine 513.
I recently changed my system from Ubuntu/Suse to Fedora14. Starting Ardour2 or Ardour3 (both build from SVN) or Ardour from the Repo-Package I get this:
[code]...
Ardours Dev Paul Davis thinks, this is an issue with libxml2 but upgrading libxml2 and even downgrading it did not work either. With the fresh install of Fed14 2 weeks ago the Package from the repo did work very much OK. is there anything I can do?
I am using Fedora 7 for making a server. I have installed Kaspersky mail gateway solution on that. but the solution is not working. I found an error in the message log file that is Mar 30 20:29:28 srfed kernel: mailgwd[2452]: segfault at 00000008 eip 084ed6a5 esp 003340d0 error 4 It means that the process for mail gateway dropped for some reason. I am currently running Fedora 14 on an x86_64 system that acts as a whole house server for named, dhcp, nfs, nis, htpp, samba, etcMy issue has existed for a few years and I am just now getting around to posting about it.I have a simple samba configuration for sharing files to a windows VM on another box. Here is the config:

I am new to RHEL. I am using a Thinkpad W510 and SL 5.5. I am trying to get everything working smoothly on my system.I am having issues with the gpu drivers and the touchpad, both of which seem to be traced back to xorg.conf.I can set the proper resolution using nvidia-settings, but it resets to 800x600 on restart no matter what I do. I have used the gui to save, I have tried nvidia-xconfig, and I have tried to just editing the xorg myself, but it always goes back.I am having even worse problems with the trackpad. I downloaded and installed the synaptics package, but nothing I do changes the trackpad settings. Mouse properties has no trackpad info in it.
I'm running Fedora 10 on a HP Compaq 6710b laptop. It is by far the best OS I have ever used and have no complaints, but I seem to be having some trouble with the wireless at work. The office has a single Cisco Aironet 1131 configured for WPA2 using AES with a PSK. The SSID is not broadcast. The mode is B/G mixed. My wireless card is a built-in Intel PRO 3945ABG, the driver is IWL3945 (auto configured during the OS install).
I use the Network Manager to manually add my SSID and select "WPA & WPA2 Personal" on the security tab and enter the PSK in the password field. After a few moments the wireless connects and appears to be working fine. About every 3-5 minutes while using the office network I get the "kernel error" dialog in the bottom right hand corner of my screen and the wireless drops connection. It re connects after about 30 seconds and appears to work fine until the next kernel error.
So this just started a few days ago... maybe 7 at the most.
I am working along, and screen goes black, or just freezes... the lights on my laptop start blinking and becomes everything becomes unresponsive.
I have noticed it is usually when I am Using Firefox and Flash content. I have also noticed it happens when using Deluge, but it usually takes 5 minutes to kick in.
I am using firefox at the moment, but I am sure if I load up a ..... video, it will lock up on me again.
Amarok stops after each track when playing playlist from magnatune. This is not happend if I play local music.Has someone a solution to this ?My Setup Amarok 2.3.2-4 - Fedora 14 64bit
i recently bought a Coby netbook, and the track pad doesn't work at all if i'm using linux, (i currently have fedora 15, and gnome 3.0.1) it works fine with windows. and also, the keyboard sometimes glitches and my typing would look like.does anyone have any idea on how to fix these problems? i would like to just find a .rpm or something with the drivers or whatever (I have always hated using tar balls)
I'm having the weirdest thing with F13. I HAD a HP 8430 with docking station and external 22" monitor. Worked well, using the RADEONHD drivers. Now I have a HP 8530p laptop. At startup, as soon as the login would show, the screen (both laptop lid and external display) go black. To resolve, I have to disconnect the DVI connector to be able to see the login screen. After initialization of the laptop display (showing login screen) I can connect the DVI connector again.
When I'm logged in and have the DVI connector connected again, I go to GNOME monitor preferences and see, besides my laptop display, my external display, not once but TWICE. if I enable the wrong one, my screen goes black again. If I enable the right one, my external display works as expected. I made sure that the monitor is connected only ONCE with DVI.
I'm using a freshly installed F13 with the default setup, so RADEONHD is being used. My laptop has the following video device (from lspci): 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650. The bad thing is I don't know where to go for analysis to get this fixed... any hints?
I've just installed F15 over the weekend, and since then I've been having stability issues - primarily it seems to be related to gnome 3 (I've used fedora since its early days, and have never had such stability issues in the prior versions). Basically, when I use gnome-tweak-tool to make a modification, the system crashes; and I have to completely shut off the unit (unplug it) for it to even boot up properly. Today, I tried to change one of the options from its default, and now the very top (black bar) won't show.
I'm in the "File Manager" mode and can see the "Computer", "home" and "Trash" icons. I can move them about; and click on any of them to open. But once they're open nothing else works (clicking on any of the directories, etc, has no effect). I can ctl-alt-F2; but that's the extent. I deleted the .gconf and .gconfd directories (suggested in a different thread on a similar issue), but that didn't change anything. How do I bring back the default gnome 3 bar at the top?
I rebuilt my user account from scratch (that was the fastest approach for me). Nevertheless, gnome-tweak-tool does crash (for example, each time I turn on "File Manager"). This is clearly a bug. I'm using nvidia GTX 480; the problem might somehow be related to the card/driver. I definitely spoke too early I logged out of my account; logged back in, and the top bar is gone again and I'm left with having to deal with this again.
Whenever I play music tracks in totem Movie Player, the volume drops on each subsequent track - it's VERY annoying. Does anybody know of a permanent fix for this? I've gone through the steps on the pulseaudio thread, and they only fix the problem temporarily. I've even gone so far as uninstalling everything attached to pulseaudio (which was real fun btw since xorg and the video drivers apparently are dependent). After fixing that mess, the audio is STILL screwy. Never had this problem under F10 - do I need to go back?
I had FC10 working nicely but decided to move to FC12 to be able to use the latest and greatest... Turning out to be nightmare!
My HDD is partitioned into three:
(hd0, 0) 100MB : used to be original /boot for FC 10 (hd0, 1) 120GB : /home (hd0, 2) 30GB : / > First thing tried: preupgrade
Using this preupgrade setup happend and asked to reboot. However, upton reboot got locked in stage2. So this option was abondoned.
> Second thing tried: installation CDs
Using this method formatted (hd0,2) and installed FC12 on (hd0,2). However, did not change anything on (hd0,0). This still held all the upgrade information from the previous trial. Now, when I rebooted after the install there was a kernel panic with error "kernel panic not syncing vfs". Thinking it might due to the (hd0,0) partition and errors in my install, I abandoned this.
> Third thing tried: installation CDs
Using this method I formatted both (hd0,0) and (hd0,2). The install was similar to above but now (hd0,0) was also formatted and after install was empty. But upton reboot I still got the "kernel panic not syncing vfs" message. I dug through google and saw references to problems in grub.conf and lo behold there were problems with my grub.conf. I don't see the initrd line at all nor do I see the initrd*.img file in my disk. The grub.conf is:
I am trying to find a best tool to track configuration files changes. I did find some information about osec and mactime, but, it seems, that they are not included in fedora/rpmfusion package databases. is there any tool that can be installed as a package?
I am starting a small business for computer repair and was wondering if there is any software available for entering and keeping track of service calls. Right now I am using Kmymoney for keeping track of finances and it seems to be working out ok. I also use day planner to keep track of appointments. However, I haven't found anything to keep track of service calls. Currently, I am pretty much trying to adapt spreadsheets as a "get by" solution but its not that pretty.
I want to track the number of requests that a file gets downloaded and viewed.
What I have is mp4 files on the server and they could either get played in flash player or downloaded via mobile or whatever.
I need to see how many times that files gets downloaded or viewed. Since its in a php page I am able to track the number of views. But I want to able to track the direct downloads.
I was thinking something along the lines of htaccess redirect to php then to file.
But that would mess up the player from playing the file I would think. I am not sure how to make that happen with the htaccess either though.

When attempting to run pSX on Ubuntu 9.04 (and the 9.10 livecd), it crashes with a segfault. I -have- read [URL] and tried shutting down pulseaudio as recommended there. However:
How do I get pSX working? I tried copying the psx.ini file from another machine because the thread says pSX works fine after you change the sound device used, but it still segfaults when I try running it.
I am on a fresh install of Narwal. I've switched to classic because unity wasn't mature enough IMO. Just installed ccsm and now my display will crash randomly after running for a short while.

So, now we know where exactly the problem occures. I know only these three commands to debug using gdb. But in case of ns-2 code, I don't know how to use gdb.
I changed a routing protocol's C++ code in ns-2 and successfully recompiled ns-2 but when I run any tcl script with that particular protocol, I get 'segmentation fault'. Now I want to trace what part of the code is causing this. I have tried using 'printf's at suspectable places. Is this possible to debug ns-2 code with gdb just like the segfault.c above? I am useing fedora 9.
I am trying to write a peer to peer application in C++ using pthreads library. There are few types of nodes that run in the program. The 'beacon' nodes form the core of the network. The ordinary nodes 'join' the network by sending join requests to the beacon node. So, my program runs till the join requests and responses are received. When I try to 'connect' using connect function from the socket library, I get a segfault. I am not sure if the segfault occurs for the connect function, because sometimes the program just runs to completion. It could be an issue related to threads or memory allocation.
When I run gdb, it shows me the following: Code: (gdb) run b2-n00.ini Starting program: sv_node b2-n00.ini servant:12600> [New LWP 1] [New LWP 2] [New LWP 3] [New LWP 4] [New LWP 5] [New LWP 6] Before Exiting[LWP 1 exited] procfs: fetch_registers, get_gregs line 3768, /proc/23952/lwp/1: No such file or directory.
I usually use the following command to join several PDF files in one :gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=output.pdf input1.pdf input2.pdfHadn't have to do it for a while but today, I needed it and thus fired my script.lam! gs segfaults.A quick internet search and I found this :https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/22006Though Arch related, while I'm running slackware64-current, the behaviour was exactly the same as mine.In the above thread, one guy linked to a bug report which seems to be theculprit :http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691831gcc 4.5.1, gs 9.00, x86_64, indeed, slackware64 seems to be exactly in that situation.
Has anyone had any luck getting a slackbuild to work with the newest version of skype 2.1.0.81? I tried with the static binary but when I go to execute skype I get a segfault. I also tried with a different slackbuild and it doesn't work either.
