Recently I detected a problem with the ps2pdf program under Fedora 15.
Using Fedora 13-14 I wrote my thesis and compiled Latex without issues using the "latex" command and then the "ps2pdf". No fuss, it was all written in a bash script.
Now, under Fedora 15 I am unable to compile my thesis:
Code:
[joe@tizoc lib]$ time ./ps2pdf Main.ps
Error: /undefined in
Operand stack:
Execution stack:
[Code]....
Obviously some incompatibility was introduced somehow in the latest versions, which I hope can be worked around with some option. Does anyone know how to make this work?
Additional details: The Latex document consists of several TEX files united under a master document, and PDF links are created.
I am having trouble converting a latex file to pdf with the precision I am looking for. I want strict control of the margins for both the outputted pdf and the printed page but currently it looks like there is a discrepancy between the two. I set the margins with the geometry package, i.e.
Code: usepackage[left=.5in,right=.5in,top=.5in,bottom=.5in]{geometry} and then have tried converting to pdf by both the dvipdf route and the dvips --> ps2pdf route. All of these output files look identical through evince, however when I physically print the pdf the margins are roughly double the size I want. When I print the ps version the margins are exactly what I want. Therefore I expect the problem is obviously in ps2pdf.
I am printing on letter paper (8.5 x 11), which I have tried to explicitly set using
Code: ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE=letter foo.ps with no luck.
My goal is to have a pdf for the sake of compatibility. I also do not want to use pdflatex for various reasons. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? What options have to be set that I don't know about. I tried searching around for a while but mostly found solutions involving a mistake papersize (a4 vs letter) changes, so sorry if this is RTFM.
What used to work flawlessly in F14 now does not work in F15. I have done a fresh installation of F15 and all seemed to go well other than a few minor tweaks. In F14 I had an /etc/fstab file that worked well but in F15 does not work. I have 3 external USB drives, mybook, black & StoreIt. With F14 my fstab worked very well and booted regardless of weather or not any particular drive was connected at any given time. Typically I have the mybook and black connected at home and the StoreIt connected at work, but regardless it would boot and work without any problems.
Is it possible to import an xorg.conf file from Debian to Fedora and have it work? The reason for this is that I have an older monitor that only offers 800x600 as the maximum resolution.
I have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.
I just upgrade my Fedora 14 to Fedora 15 RC1.I found the critical issue for me that Juniper Network connect(SSL VPN) didn't work for me again.I wonder if the network interface name changed impact this, but I am not sure about it as I didn't see any obviously error.I can connect the VPN auth page with my username and password after I switch my Java plugin to Sun JRE( I use google Chrome). As the Java VPN applet started, it appeared for a while and shutdown again. I think the VPN auth has been passed at that time, the problem might about creating the VPN Tunnel.
I'm using Fedora 9, I've just installed Bluefish, all hunky dory till I press "View on Browser" Button nothing happens. I've tried few cods like these; /usr/bin/firefox -new-window "%s" & %s. But No success.
Fedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64) I installed that update, during the installation process it said that it had to remove three packages, one of them was kmod nvidia for the old kernel (Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.x86_64))After the update finished installing the new kernel, I restarted the system and Nvidia did not load. (I assume because Update manager removed the old nvidia? But I also assumed that a new version would be installed automatically?)I received the following Boot messages:
Code:
Entering non-interactive startup Starting monitoring for VG vg_user1: 3 logical volume(s) in volume group "vg_user1" monitored
[code]....
I'm confused, if Update Manager removed kmod nvidia, then why does yum say it is installed? And why doesn't the new kernel update work with that version? Or should I install a driver version for that particular kernel? I've read while searching that I need to install a kmod-nvidia for that particual kernel version and that I should login to my previous kernel until that happens, is that the problem I'm having?
Why don't rpmfusion and fedoraproject release the kmod-nvidia and kernel updates at the same time to avoid problems such as this? Does anyone know how long does it usually take for rpmfusion to release the new kmod-nvidia driver for the latest kernel?
I am a student of MCA of Manipur University. Now I am using fedora 10 and i want to intall RealTek8185 54M wireless PCI adapter to my Desktop. I have a rough idea of using ndisewrapper driver and i tried also but failed. Please tell me instructions how my mentioned adapter would work using ndisrrapper on fedora 10.
I just found it out now, after installed the skype and tried setup my web/audio on it, the webcam works fine but the mic doesn't work, so i went to the audio menu on fedora 14 and found it out the mic is dead.Someone had the same issue? Can someone let me know what can i do to fix that?
I have winbind Active Directory authentication set up on my laptop. AD authentication works like a charm, passwords cache, etc. I can use sudo with no problem. However, I cannot use the root account -no matter what I set the root password to, the system will not take it. I also have a couple of normal system users (not winbind), and no matter what I set their passwords to, I cannot login.
I have a laptop HP 4520s, using Fedora 15 (is fine) gnome3, the unique problem is with touchpad, I can setup in system setting, the tap event works fine, but the right click not work.
I explain more especific, this kind of touchpad is very large and the left and right click are in the touchpad, and when i make a click every time send the left click event. the drag event is very dificoult too with this driver. I was use the same computer with opensuse 11.4 with KDE 4.6, and the touchpad works with out problem.
Well I have a VIA unichrome onboard GPU K8M800 . And I love Fedora KDE !! but unfortunately since I last used Fedora 10 KDE every time I update KDE to 4.x,or try Live booting Fedora 11 and 12 KDE it constantly gets re-spawned back to the login screen when I enter the userame and password. Can any one help me with this problem?? What is going wrong?? is it that the driver is wrong or is that my VIA unichrome is unable to render the req. graphics?
I've spent some time trying to get ICA to work on my FC9x64 box, and thought it might be helpful for other if they had one central location to get the general info on ICA that is recent. Unfortunately I did not log all dependencies, but we'll cheat as we go. For those of you that log into the Java/web interface version of Citrix via Firefox, we'll cover that too.
Go ahead and d/l the following to the same directory (~/Download is great)
XenApp/ICA client for linux RPM version - http://www.citrix.com/English/SS/dow...oductID=-1#top Openmotif 2.3.1 - RPM - I386 version ftp://ftp.ics.com/openmotif/2.3/2.3....1.fc9.i386.rpm
[Code].....
For some alls they will need to do is point it to their PNAgent, or Citrix app server. For those of you who log into a web interface (Nfuse, Java) you will probably need to do the following.
When you click on an application to open it should ask if you want to d/l a "launch.ica" or something similar, instead of saving it chose to open it. Click Browse for applications and type:
Location: /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfica
For the location. hit ok or open, and you can check do this automatically with this file type to save you some time.
I want to start a ftp server on my Fedora 10 box so that I can copy some files to it from a different computer. I have installed proftpd and I have added myself to the ftp group. I have also disabled SELinux.I can ftp in from the same box , but when I try to ftp in from my windows laptop, I get a "Connection refused" message (with 2 different clients)Any idea on what else I need to do to setup proftp properly?
When I try to SSH my Fedora 10 via this link "[URL]" all works fine. IP: 90.x.x.x Username Port And after that I enter my Password - connected.
However when I try to do it via Putty or TerraTerm Wev 3.1 I dont even connect to the PC? TeraTerm Web 3.1: Host: 90.x.x.x Service: SSH TCP Port: 22 Connecting...... Connection timed out
Strangely, I couldn't find a field where I can tell the username to TeraTerm. Is there anything I have to configure specially? I tried both ways LAN/WAN nothing. Firewall has Port 22 opened.
Most of the time, when I try to install something using yum, it mostly say nothing to do, here in the desktop computer, while using yum in my laptop do just fine? It is important to run in the desktop because it is my project.
I have Toshiba Qosmio G50 Laptop and I have recently installed Fedora 11 on it, dual booting with Windows Vista. The problem has to do with the internal microphone which works in Windows but NOT in Fedora.
I tried to record a sound but I can not hear my voice and I also made a test call using Skype and got the same result. I do not hear my voice at all. When I made a normal call nobody could hear me.
I have searched a lot in the net for a solution and I found that a lot of people say this has to do with pulse audio and they suggest to uninstall it. I do so but nothing happened.
The only change I noticed was that, in Skype Sound Options there were more options to choose for microphone and speakers (before there was only one - the pulse audio server). Whatever option I use I had the same results so I installed back pulse audio.
I am having trouble watching hulu.com on my 64 bit F12. The error message says: We're sorry but we're unable to stream videos to your system. This may be due to an Adobe software limitation on 64 bit Linux systems
I wonder if there's a work around for this issue? I can view ..... without any problem.
In windows XP a program called Nero helps you out. With a Macintosh iDVD is the software. My own rearch suggests there are a lot of tools that work with linux. Is there a set of tools that work with Fedora 12? I realise that one program in linux may not do the authoring process.
I have two laptops with F12 installed. Both recently received updates and now the yum command does not work on either of them. I have attached 2 files showing the output when yum command is executed on one of these laptops.
I downloaded some .iso files recently, and don't really know what to do with them. Unless I'm mistaken, I should burn them onto a CD, and then be able to mount them and get the program to run, but that doesn't seem to be working. All it does when I put the disk in is open the folders showing all the files. Am I completely off base with what I'm doing, or is there just a step I'm missing or something?
I am new here and have only been using Linux for about 3 months so please help by explaining things clearly and don't assume I should know. However, for reasons too detailed to mention here I want to know how dmesg works. What I understand is that it provides log details of the startup, hardware etc until logger takes over. What I want to know is this: Do you still get new log messages in dmesg after boot and after the logger has taken over or is it simply a snapshot of what happens at boot time If you shutdown you machine or more importantly something happens to cause it to crash, does it or is it possible to make it record dmesg logs or is it purly a function of boot up
I can't seem to get a cron job to work on my Fedora 11 box. When I check the logs, cron is actually working. In my /etc/crontab I have an entry to run the cron job on my Moodle installation:
I did a fresh install of Fedora 14 XFCE spin and it is working well. I tried to install Adobe Flash by following the directions listed below and though it says it was successfully installed any time I try to do something that requires Flash I get a message saying I need Adobe Flash version 10 or higher.
I downloaded adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm from Adobe's website and did the following:
Installation instructions for the YUM repository definition
1. Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file. 2. Save the .rpm file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely. 3. In terminal, navigate to the desktop and type # rpm -Uvh <rpm_package_file>. Click Enter. (Note: This must be done as a root user). 4. Once the installation is complete, in terminal, type # yum install flash-plugin. Click Enter. (Note: This must be done as a root user). 5. To verify the plugin is installed in Mozilla, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu. 6. To get the most up-to-date Flash Player in the future, simply type # yum update flash-plugin in terminal. You will not need to repeat steps 1-4.
I do have flash-plugin-10.1.102.65-release.i386.rpm
Should I do the above process with this file?
I also tried to verify the plugin was installed in Mozilla but there is no Adobe Flash listed in Tools->Add-ons->Plugins. Is that where it should be listed?
