View 3 RepliesWhat used to work flawlessly in F14 now does not work in F15. I have done a fresh installation of F15 and all seemed to go well other than a few minor tweaks. In F14 I had an /etc/fstab file that worked well but in F15 does not work. I have 3 external USB drives, mybook, black & StoreIt. With F14 my fstab worked very well and booted regardless of weather or not any particular drive was connected at any given time. Typically I have the mybook and black connected at home and the StoreIt connected at work, but regardless it would boot and work without any problems.

Is it possible to import an xorg.conf file from Debian to Fedora and have it work? The reason for this is that I have an older monitor that only offers 800x600 as the maximum resolution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgrade my Fedora 14 to Fedora 15 RC1.I found the critical issue for me that Juniper Network connect(SSL VPN) didn't work for me again.I wonder if the network interface name changed impact this, but I am not sure about it as I didn't see any obviously error.I can connect the VPN auth page with my username and password after I switch my Java plugin to Sun JRE( I use google Chrome). As the Java VPN applet started, it appeared for a while and shutdown again. I think the VPN auth has been passed at that time, the problem might about creating the VPN Tunnel.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64) I installed that update, during the installation process it said that it had to remove three packages, one of them was kmod nvidia for the old kernel (Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.x86_64))After the update finished installing the new kernel, I restarted the system and Nvidia did not load. (I assume because Update manager removed the old nvidia? But I also assumed that a new version would be installed automatically?)I received the following Boot messages:
Code:
Entering non-interactive startup
Starting monitoring for VG vg_user1: 3 logical volume(s) in volume group "vg_user1" monitored
[code]....
I'm confused, if Update Manager removed kmod nvidia, then why does yum say it is installed? And why doesn't the new kernel update work with that version? Or should I install a driver version for that particular kernel? I've read while searching that I need to install a kmod-nvidia for that particual kernel version and that I should login to my previous kernel until that happens, is that the problem I'm having?
Why don't rpmfusion and fedoraproject release the kmod-nvidia and kernel updates at the same time to avoid problems such as this? Does anyone know how long does it usually take for rpmfusion to release the new kmod-nvidia driver for the latest kernel?

However, I cannot use the root account -no matter what I set the root password to, the system will not take it. I've spent some time trying to get ICA to work on my FC9x64 box, and thought it might be helpful for other if they had one central location to get the general info on ICA that is recent. Unfortunately I did not log all dependencies, but we'll cheat as we go. For those of you that log into the Java/web interface version of Citrix via Firefox, we'll cover that too.
Go ahead and d/l the following to the same directory (~/Download is great)
XenApp/ICA client for linux RPM version -
http://www.citrix.com/English/SS/dow...oductID=-1#top
Openmotif 2.3.1 - RPM - I386 version
ftp://ftp.ics.com/openmotif/2.3/2.3....1.fc9.i386.rpm
[Code].....
For some alls they will need to do is point it to their PNAgent, or Citrix app server. For those of you who log into a web interface (Nfuse, Java) you will probably need to do the following.
When you click on an application to open it should ask if you want to d/l a "launch.ica" or something similar, instead of saving it chose to open it. Click Browse for applications and type:
Location: /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfica
For the location. hit ok or open, and you can check do this automatically with this file type to save you some time.

IP: 90.x.x.x

And after that I enter my Password - connected.
However when I try to do it via Putty or TerraTerm Wev 3.1 I dont even connect to the PC?
TeraTerm Web 3.1:
Host: 90.x.x.x
Service: SSH
TCP Port: 22
Connecting...... Connection timed out
Strangely, I couldn't find a field where I can tell the username to TeraTerm. Is there anything I have to configure specially? I tried both ways LAN/WAN nothing. Firewall has Port 22 opened.
Most of the time, when I try to install something using yum, it mostly say nothing to do, here in the desktop computer, while using yum in my laptop do just fine? It is important to run in the desktop because it is my project.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Toshiba Qosmio G50 Laptop and I have recently installed Fedora 11 on it, dual booting with Windows Vista. The problem has to do with the internal microphone which works in Windows but NOT in Fedora.
I tried to record a sound but I can not hear my voice and I also made a test call using Skype and got the same result. I do not hear my voice at all. When I made a normal call nobody could hear me.
I have searched a lot in the net for a solution and I found that a lot of people say this has to do with pulse audio and they suggest to uninstall it. I do so but nothing happened.
The only change I noticed was that, in Skype Sound Options there were more options to choose for microphone and speakers (before there was only one - the pulse audio server). Whatever option I use I had the same results so I installed back pulse audio.
Does UltraVNC work on F11?Does it work well? What is better?

In windows XP a program called Nero helps you out. With a Macintosh iDVD is the software. My own rearch suggests there are a lot of tools that work with linux. Is there a set of tools that work with Fedora 12? I realise that one program in linux may not do the authoring process.

Unless I'm mistaken, I should burn them onto a CD, and then be able to mount them and get the program to run, but that doesn't seem to be working. All it does when I put the disk in is open the folders showing all the files. Am I completely off base with what I'm doing, or is there just a step I'm missing or something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new here and have only been using Linux for about 3 months so please help by explaining things clearly and don't assume I should know. However, for reasons too detailed to mention here I want to know how dmesg works. What I understand is that it provides log details of the startup, hardware etc until logger takes over. What I want to know is this: Do you still get new log messages in dmesg after boot and after the logger has taken over or is it simply a snapshot of what happens at boot time If you shutdown you machine or more importantly something happens to cause it to crash, does it or is it possible to make it record dmesg logs or is it purly a function of boot up

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a fresh install of Fedora 14 XFCE spin and it is working well. I tried to install Adobe Flash by following the directions listed below and though it says it was successfully installed any time I try to do something that requires Flash I get a message saying I need Adobe Flash version 10 or higher.
I downloaded adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm from Adobe's website and did the following:
Installation instructions for the YUM repository definition
1. Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
2. Save the .rpm file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
3. In terminal, navigate to the desktop and type # rpm -Uvh <rpm_package_file>. Click Enter. (Note: This must be done as a root user).
4. Once the installation is complete, in terminal, type # yum install flash-plugin. Click Enter. (Note: This must be done as a root user).
5. To verify the plugin is installed in Mozilla, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.
6. To get the most up-to-date Flash Player in the future, simply type # yum update flash-plugin in terminal. You will not need to repeat steps 1-4.
I do have flash-plugin-10.1.102.65-release.i386.rpm
Should I do the above process with this file?
I also tried to verify the plugin was installed in Mozilla but there is no Adobe Flash listed in Tools->Add-ons->Plugins. Is that where it should be listed?
