after too long time spent googling and too long time on IRC still haven't given me any directions on how to install the mentioned form of fonts. Older instructions for previous versions won't work as some commands don't exist any longer (e.g. chkfontpath)

After waiting a long time,it reports the network not available, and ask me to select repo from NFS, DVD or http/ftp, still no local hard driver. Is this a new feature of F15?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI haved "yum install"ed a few fixed fonts, e.g. bitmap-fixed-fonts, but they do not show up in the xlsfonts listing, and hence, I assume, for the same reason "xterm -fn 9x15" complains that the 9x15 font is not found. The fonts are delivered as pcf files. I have followed some directions on the net, but have not been successful at having the pcf font files integrated into the Fedora 14 font system.

Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings.

I took a good look at the Ubuntu Documentation Section:URl..and most of the things I don't even know what they are for (MySQU, Samba, Apache2).
Basically I need to have a couple of computers with internet access, allowing me to control their use, file sharing to a main HD in the server, also I would like to use the server computer as my personal desktop (office, internet, etc.) and that's about it..The question is, if I were to follow that guide, do you think I can set it up?Also, do you know a guide in which the hardware components are mentioned? Because I googled and the amount of trash coming out, mostly outdated, is extremely annoying.
Is there an "easy" explanation somewhere in the forum about how to install programs which are in tarball form? I am relearning much of openSUSE and unsure of the compiling commands, which one(s) should be ran as a user, which commands should be ran as root... I've done a search on this topic and it seems there is a difference in login between make, make install, checkinstall etc.

I am using json library for my application. I have mentioned the path where the library resides in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. while compiling i have given the following commands.

but still i am getting this following error.

The font settings are all serif and sans serif in both the system fonts settings and firefox settings.
I am using ubuntu 9.10.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a folder with over 1500 fonts, I would like to move them to my /usr/share/fonts folder so that they can be used. Some are from Windows, some are just random extras. I've installed the msttcorefonts, but there are quite a few missing that make some wen pages look different.
How can I go about putting the fonts from my folder, into the appropriate /usr/share/fonts folder to be used? And how can I move them all? I can't drag and drop them, and mv FONT_NAME /usr/share/fonts for all of them will take a month or two. Is there a way to elevate my self to be able to just drag and drop them all? And which folder would they need to go into for them to be used in Chrome and Firefox?
home web server (running on port 21333). i'm running fedora 10 w/ LAMP and I can't get my php contact form on my website to send out mail. it looks like it sends but it doesn't (and I know the form works because it's the same one from my hosted web server). I've tried everything I can think of, disabled selinux, added apache to trusted mail users, changed the port to 2025 in case comcast blocks 25 (at least i think i did), added the port to the iptables and i have no idea where to go from here.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just installed openSUSE 11.2 X86_64 on my laptop, I then used KDE to install lots of type 1 fonts for my printer. These get loaded to /usr/local/share/fonts/...These installed fonts are visible to KDE (KWRITE) and GIMP so I assume that the installation was O.K. When I start openOFFICE writer I do not see these fonts. The font selection appears to be the fonts located under /usr/share/fonts. I have not tried other ooo3 components. I assume that they are not going to see the fonts either.
I have searched google and it appears that /usr/local/share/fonts is the correct location for non-packaged fonts. Has anybody any idea what is wrong? I think I could move all the fonts to /usr/share/fonts and ooo3 would work but this seems to break the installation directory structure. I have considered symlinks but I don't like the idea of defining a font twice to Linux and creating the syslinks is more work than reinstalling the fonts if they are lost
I have a cd of new fonts that I would like to install into the fonts folder.
