Fedora :: Install Files With Extensions .tar.gz?
Jan 7, 2010I am downloading the files, but don't know how to install.

View 1 RepliesI have a directory of a load of files without extensions. I know what the filetype should be, so is there any way of batch renaming the files to append a given extension onto it. i.e. text would be renamed as text.txt?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a PHP developer trying to switch from Windows to Linux. So I'm new with Linux. I tried to google for a solution and tried the suggested wiki FAQ but with no success.I wanted to install zend-server-ce-php-5.3 today with yum. This worked okay.After this I tried to install php-5.3-extra-extensions-zend-server. This seemed to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some directories with a varying numbers of files and subdirectories. All files that have no extensions have to be tared. Their names may change, thus they can not be hardcoded. Subdirectories may also contain a unspecified number of files and subdirectories that are not relevant and should not be included in the archive.
I'd like to be able to do this with a single line, not using any .sh scripts, so that this process could be reproduced as portably as possible.
Sample directory structure:
$ ls -1F
bar-dir/
bar.with.dots
foo-directory/
foo-no-ext

how to delete only files which have no extensions in the directories. but other files should exist.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering how I'd be able to symlink all the files in a dir structure and then also copy files of a certain extension in that dir. I'm basically symlinking all files within /foo/a,b,c to /bar/a,b,c and then copying over certain files with a certain extensions.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am writing a bash shell script and I am trying to use a select case to modify a few files with the same filename but different extensions (i.e. problem.tex problem.log problem .pdf etc.)
It goes something like this:
Select item in $list
do
compile $item.tex
open $item.pdf
delete $item.log
break
done
exit
Right now my list is list=$( find . -maxdepth 1 -name "*.tex" ) which returns a list only from the current directory of all files ending in .tex so when I try to open the resulting .pdf file I get the error:
error: file problem.tex.pdf doesn't exist
So I'm trying to find a way to use just the name in a select menu.
I'm trying to convert all file extensions for files in many sub-directories from uppercase to lowercase. I have two problems, how to list the absolute path to the files recursively over many sub-directories for which I so far have this:-
Code:
find ~/Photos -print which would be fine, except it gives the directories on their own when it finds them rather than just the files with absolute paths. I couldn't find a switch for the "ls" command to do this, so I had to improvise with "find". and once I get grab each absolute file name, to just change the file extension rather than the entire file, which is what I have at the moment.

I am trying to write a bash script that will extract a .cbr (.rar) file, traverse the extracted files in alphabetical order and rename them 001.JPG, 002.JPG, 003.JPG, etc.So far I only have this much to extract it:
Code:
#!/bin/bash

I searched the entire root filesystem and didn't find any .xpi files.

Is it possible to install Firefox xpi extensions into Konqueror? I can't find anything about this. All I can determine is that this xpi is a compressed directory with javascript and config files.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Debian Jessie and I'm trying to install some Gnome Shell Extensions from this site: [URL] .....
I click on the extension and it shows a button that I can turn ON or OFF. It's OFF by default. Then I click it, it turns ON and I'm asked if I want to download and install that extension. I say Yes! But then nothing happens. If I visit "Installed extensions" session, it says there are no extensions installed. And if I refresh the extension page, the ON button becomes OFF again. No matter how many times I try to do this, the result is the same. I tryed it with Iceweasel (v. 24.2.0) and Google Chrome (v. 32.0.1700.77) and default gnome-shell (v. 3.8.4).
ALT+F2 R to restart the Shell, your extensions will be enabled
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 15, fresh install, today. Then I installed several Gnome Shell extensions along with Gnome Do through the package manager. I logged out, and tried logging back in. Received the Gnome Shell error message, "Fatal error" and was told to try again. Get taken back to login window.
I tried logging in as "root" so I could uninstall the packages I installed, but apparently you can't do that in Fedora. What's the best course of action?
I wanna see the wifi signal strength.But when i run the command iwconfig , it tells me 'no wireless extensions'.By googling I found that I need to enable config option CONFIG_NET_RADIO.I see that this has to be done in boot which has config files.So I typed the command grep CONFIG_NET_RADIO /boot/<config-2.6.31.5-127.fc12.i686> (my fedora version is 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.i686).But I got the error as "bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline' ".I dont know the reason.I also want to know if I have to install driver(ndiswrapper)for viewing wireless signal strength.I thought that the drivers will present default(am not sure).
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn Xorg.0.log, if you have an extension disabled in the configuration file, you will see: (**) Extension DAMAGE disabled In the first few lines ... however, later on you see (II) Initializing built-in extension DAMAGE So which is it? Is there a memory map or something I can dump and view to see which extensions are actually loaded into the X server? Is there a delineation between "disabled/enabled" and "initialized"? OK I found it:
xdpyinfo -queryExtensions | awk '{print; if (NF<=1) exit;}'
A friend of mine have just migrated to Linux, and as recommended by me, He's trying Fedora 15 KDE. Everything runs just fine, he loved the OS, but there's a sad problem, his network card seems to have no "wireless extensions", which makes the system impracticable to use. I've tried searching around which card JMC250 is a single-chip PCI-Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller
with lspci
and which driver for this card
JME
is installed, with modprobe list
I've tried loading this driver with modprobe jme, no errors. And I've also tried compiling a driver I got from the manufacturer. No changes.
How do you install RPM files on Fedora? I am running Fedora 11.

I am trying to install openldap servers using the following command...rpm -i openldap-servers-2.4.22-7.fc14.i686.rpm
However the files /etc/openldap/slapd.conf and /etc/openldap/slapd.conf.bak are not getting installed.
I have run the "rpm -qlp" on the package and it says that it included both those files.
I have tried installing with the --allfile --noscripts --notriggers and --force options to see if there was something strange removing the file during installation, but the file is still not being installed.
Other files in the package appear to be installed without issue.
How can I get RPM to install these two files (the conf file is critical and it's a bit pointless to install the package without it).
I'm running Fedora 11, however when I try to install an rpm.bin or a .bin file, it is not recognized. Java can be downloaded as a rpm.bin or a .bin file and it will not install.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed apache 2 and php 5 on my server. It works great but what I need is to add few extensions to PHP so it supports my website:
PDO (with MySQL and PostgreSQL driver)
curl
GD2 or Imagick
How can I do that?
I have located my php.ini file. It's in the /etc/php5/apache2.php.ini. I have used nano /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini to open it and I searched for "curl", "pdo" etc but there is no mention of them in the php.ini file. No commented lines with these extensions.
Will it work if I just add this on the end of my php.ini?
extension=php_pdo.dll
extension=php_pdo_mysql.dll
extension=php_pdo_pgsql.dll
I've just switched successfully from ubuntu to fedora today. Basically I am really happy with fedora, most problems I had I could solve (with the help of the Internet). However 2 major problem remain:

worked without problems, however a quick test (.....) told me that flash isn't working. When I try downloading and installing flash manually from the adobe site I get a message that this package is already installed.
