Fedora :: Can't Add Second IP Address For Network Card / Fix It?
May 25, 2011To add a new IP address for the network card in the fedora, the only thing I have to do is to copy the file ifcfg-eth0 which is under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ to a new filename called ifcfg-eth0:1 and change the IP address and the DEVICE?
OK, what about other files as following code...
They will be changed automatically if i changed the file under the network-scripts or i have to change them manual?
Am I miss any thing else need to be done?

Dec 4, 2010Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.

Mar 30, 2009I have an auxillary laptop that I use with Fedora 9 on it. Up until now, I have been using wireless just fine with a an old Marvell card. A friend needed a wireless card, so I gave it to her because I had a spare Belkin card (PCMIA) with a RT2500 chipset. This chipset has been supported in Fedora for a long time, and it does it fact work but it will not obtain an IP address and disconnects from the Network Manager upon every attempt to connect.. I get an error that says "set bit rate" failed and I cannot get assigned an IP address from my router.
I do not use encryption. Nothing I have tried with sysconfig-network has had any affect.
iwlist scan finds the router just fine with a good signal, but will not connect.

Feb 12, 2009I have installed Fedora 10 on my A860 Dell Vostrol Laptop with AR242X Atheros Wireless card. Wireless card worked out of the box and i could detect wireless network and connect to it. But i have a problem that, my wireless connection is not able to get IP address from the DHCP server. Please help me out what can i do to get this working. I am using WEP security and authentication is open system.
I have windows 7 beta installed on the same machine and on that wireless network works fine so i am sure that there is no problem with the wirless network. I am using DIR-300 router from D-LINK. I tried to see packet log on wireshark and there i see that there is no reply to the DHCP discover message. Actually i don't see any RX packets at all. Which is not normal as there is traffic on the network.

Oct 1, 2010I have recently installed Fedora 13 dual booted with windows 7. Everything on both OS's works fine with the exception of Linux printing. I am using a Netgear WGPS606 print server. (it works fine on Windows 7). I have, from Linux pinged the server (192.168.1.200) and have gotten a response for each string sent but following the usual procedure [System-Administration-Printing then Add (a printer)- Expand Network Printer etc.] The response is that there is no printer found at that address. (the firewall was disabled).

I've just bought a new computer and have upgraded to the wonderful world of 64 bit computing (to take advantage of my new hardware) however this has rendered my old wireless pci card obsolete. I would like to buy a new wireless pci card that is both natively supported by Fedora (64 bit) and is compatible with Windows 7 64bit. Any suggestions on what would be a good choice? There is a bewildering array of different cards from different manufacturers and I have no idea how Linux friendly they are. I don't really want to spend too much money (30 ish would be my absolute maximum).

Apr 15, 2010I have a Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976. Brand new. I made a partition and made it dual boot with windows seven and fedora with the newest version from the site. It won't recognize the wireless card. I'm assuming it needs drivers but I don't know where to find drivers so it will recognize.
The wireless does work on the windows side so I know it's not a problem with the wireless card.

I ran yum install kmod-ndiswrapper but got "nothing to do" message. how I can install this PCI card. I tried to find a atheros chipset but cannot find one

May 24, 2011i'm new to linux, and recently installed fedora 14 on an old hp pavillion dv2700. it originally had vista home premium, but the hard drive crashed and had to be replaced with a new one, which had no os on it. i installed fedora several days ago, and everything worked perfectly until a day ago when suddenly the wireless card wouldn't turn on anymore.
my sister was using the computer (just videos) and a few seconds after she handed it back to me, the wireless light turned from blue to amber, and it said wireless was diabled, even though i hadn't touched the switch. before the computer crashed, it had a problem of the light always being amber when it woke up from standby, but flipping the switch off and back on would fix it. now no amount of wiggling and flipping seems to do the trick.

Aug 27, 2011I am trying to get a netgear wireless usb card to work correctly. I have installed ndiswrapper and gotten the correct drivers installed. The device does show up with lsusb. I can't seem to figure out how to get the wireless card to show up in gnome to start using it.
Update: the ndiswrapper module does load but when i run ndiswrapper -l it just shows the driver installed but, it is not showing my wireless usb card (0846:9020).

I want to get the wireless working. I did an 'lsmod' and I found that the modules for this card is not installed. I tried to start Network Manager, but network manager cannot connect to wireless but it cant. How and where can I get the drivers for this and how do I install those modules. My laptop is a Dell vostro 1400.

Fedora Networking :: Install Broadcom Wireless Card On 11?
Sep 1, 2009I chose to change my operating system from Microsoft Xp to Linux and finally chose Fedora to be my new OS.
After Fedora installation I got a problem that I cannot connect to my wireless network I used to using Xp, I think that my wireless card is not installed on Fedora because when I checked in the network configuration I found that the only installed adapter is the Ethernet Realtek for the wired connection.
My OS is Fedora 11.
The CPU Model name is : Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T8300 @2.40 GHz, so I think that my architecture is x86_64.
My Network controller is : Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g

Oct 3, 2009I am very new to Linux and need to install a driver for my wireless card. I am trying to install the RT3070 v2.0.1.0 driver from Ralink. I am running Fedora 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i686.PAE. I have read the thread in the Solutions section about this driver, but unfortunately this is somewhat above my levels of comprehension, and I don't really know where to start.

Fedora Networking :: Wireless Card Stopped Working?
Jan 9, 2010I have a relatively new F12 install (one week old) on which I got my wireless Broadcom card working using kmod-wl-PAE. It was a very easy process - not really a process just yum install kmod-wl-PAE.
After a few updates, I notice that the wireless card stopped working. I assumed maybe there was an update that conflicted, so I did a reinstall of kmod-wl-PAE and it worked again immediately.
Then I started installing compiz-fusion. Immediately after, wireless is broken again. So I yum erase kmod-wl-PAE and then yum install kmod-wl-PAE and it works again.
Now, only slightly later that same day, wireless stops working more or less randomly and I cannot get the reinstall of kmod-wl-PAE to fix it. So I uninstall, disable compiz-fusion, shut down, and restart the computer to try again. My thought is that maybe along the way my autostart compiz or something about compiz is causing the wireless not to configure properly. When I restart, wireless is working. Without kmod-wl-PAE installed:
yum info kmod-wl-PaE

One, how is this even possible, and two, what is going on with the wireless working, not working, working, not working?
Fedora Networking :: Unable To Use Wireless In 12 With Card Realter8172
Mar 28, 2010I have for 2 months Toshiba Satellite A 500-18Q (Core Duo, Windows7 pre-installed). I have just wifi internet in my home, with Windows7 it works perfectly and automatic. However, my fresh- installed Fedora12 cannot see any wifi at all. I my NetworkManager I can see a single line with "eth0" which seems to refer to a normal (cable) connection. How to activate wifi? Just add a new line with eth1 and Wireless connection? Or I need to install some drivers?

Fedora Networking :: Cannot Get BCM4312 Wireless Card Working
Apr 9, 2010I recently purchased an Acer eMachines E525 laptop, and currently have it dual booting Windows 7 and Fedora 12 x86_64 with the 2.6.31.5-127 kernel. I've been completely unable to get the wireless card working in Fedora (it works fine in windows).
lspci lists the following about the wireless card:

so I assume it's a BCM4312.
So far I have tried downloading the driver from [URL] and then trying to install it according to the accompanying readme file: [URL]. However, when I try to make the driver, I get the following message:

The Readme says that if I get this kind of error, I need to install the "kernel-devel" package, but I have this installed and it still returns the same error.
I have also tried following the fw-cutter instructions for fedora from [URL], but it still doesn't work. I realise there's the option of using ndiswrapper, but I gave that a shot with Fedora 11 on the same machine and had no luck, and I'd really like to see whether any of the other options work before going down that route.

Fedora Networking :: Unable To Find Wireless Card
Jun 16, 2010I have been running F13 since it came out, with the wireless working fine since I got it working (using the RPM Fusion repository, broadcom-wl-5.60.48.36-1.fc13). Since I updated software (without reading what was to be updated), yesterday, I am unable to even find wireless networks, although I am, as you can see, able to access through eth0 It is not a hardware problem, as I can not only find them, but access them on Ubuntu 9.10 live disc. Fedora Networking :: F10 And Trendnet Wireless Network Card
Sep 8, 2010I know that most people are using F12 and F13 but I just installed F10 on one of my machines. The Kernel is 2.6.27.5-117.fc10.i686 and the GUI is Gnome 2.24.1.I have a Trendnet wireless card already installed in the machine from when it ran XP which is in the tew-421pc/tew-423pi family. Is there a device manager/hardware installer that I can use to set up the wireless card or does anyone know of a driver install program for this card?
