i have recently installed fedora 13.. and its having KDE 4.4.2 desktop.. i would like to know, how can i install windows 7 look like theme for my pc.. i checked [URL] and its having a theme called vistar7.. but that only supports to ubuntu where can i get and install windows 7 theme (windows style, menu and tastbar..etc)
View 3 RepliesSo I'm having a weird issue with Gnome 3 in Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit (daily-live 4.25.2011). Anyways here's the issue, some windows File Menu bar is like the classic GTK style and doesn't look anything like the other windows, even though its an updated version. For example this happens on Gnome Terminal (3.0) and Empathy (3.0) and Nautilus (3.0) and a few others, but Firefox is fine, etc.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq Presario CQ60 with Nvidia GeForce 8200M graphics card. When I first installed Windows 7 followed by Karmic in dual boot I could boot into both OS. Now when I try to boot into Windows, it displays the Windows logo and then drops back to the grub menu. It may have started happening after Windows 7 installed updates. I tried reinstalling both Windows and Karmic again and it again worked initially but now Windows no longer boots. Does anyone have any suggestions about what may be causing this or how I can fix the problem without reinstalling?

Using Windows 7's superbar, I can select/launch the 2nd application group by <Win>+<2>. We have DockbarX in GNOME, which is nice (grouping the windows like Windows 7), but it doesn't enable the <Win>+<2> style keybaord shortcuts.This is not restricted to making Linux like Windows. But I just find the <Win>+<2> style shortcut very useful. Are there similar ways in Linux to quickly switch between specific apps without pressing <Alt>+<Tab> many many times?

Now I'm back in linux but no windows partition is showing up on the grub menu. This is the output of fdisk -l how do I make it so grub sees my windows too? View 4 Replies View RelatedI double boot Ubuntu/Vista, yesterday i replaced vista with 7...and after installation was finished i dont get a boot screen as i used to...it just goes into windows 7 sraight...when i hit f12 to enter the boot menu, the only OS that is available is 7. In the windows 7 partition i only have the gbs assigned to that certain partition, meaning that the 100 and something assigned to ubuntu are somewhere out there....

I can't turn on my PC and write jet from my neighbors notebook. Because of problems with Windows updates und ubuntu vpn I installed today Windows 7 again and then openSuse. It was OK. Than I began with set up of different Programms for windows, like WinRar, Avira Antivir ect... As soos as it was done I wanted to begin with set up of openSuse... But the start menu is gone - there is nothing there now! Last time I could choose betwee 2 windows partitions, openSuse start-partition and openSuse fall-Save. -Now there is only "grub>" line
And I doesn't have any idea what I can do, I doesnt know where are startfiles, where is /boot/grub order, I don't know how can grub be used also. But I know that if I try to register my windows 7 agan at the same day, my windows lizens would get invalid. Has someone any idee what can be done?
I just got a Zino HD from Dell, and was planning to use it connected to my TV, dual booting Xubuntu 10.04 and Windows 7. I did, however, run into some issues. I suspect I'm just going to have to burn a restore disc and start over, but I'd like to fix this if possible. Here's what I had to start with:
1 vfat partition (bootup?)
1 dell restore partition
1 Windows partition
Because the restore partition was a bloody 20 GB, and I could always get the restore done via disc, I reformatted it as ext4 and used it as "/". I then shrunk the Windows partition and allocated a home partition and some swap space. Note that immediately after the installer, I reformatted the home partition manually with an inode size of 128 to use with the Windows ext2 driver, but that shouldn't have really changed anything. End result file system order:
1 vfat
1 ext4 mounted as "/"
1 Windows
1 Swap
1 ext3 mounted as "/home"
I now have two problems:
1) I do not get any GRUB menu at all! It just boots directly into Xubuntu with no choices (not even memory test or restore mode).
2) I, obviously, can no longer boot Windows.
Keep in mind that this a fresh install on a brand new machine; I can't think of any reason GRUB wouldn't even show me a menu.
i'm using fedora core 12 on my laptop vostro 1310. I don't know why every gnome window has lost the main menu. Does someone know the way to turn on again those menus

I dont find the menu item for this function any more in F12 (System -> Preferences ->?) Which package added that functionality and is there a version for F12? I really miss it
just noticed that the windows are already set to respond that way (by default) only that the title bars don't indicate a change in focus.
I've had Fedora 14 installed for some time now, but decided I needed dual boot for some things I have that are built only for windows and need usb support.
I installed windows to hd0,4 but when I edit a windows 7 entry in grub, as:
title windoze 7
root (hd0,4)
then boot it, it doesn't find it.
It was actually the 4th partition, so hd0,3 not hd0,4 I apparently also needed to put in "Chainloader +1" too... what ever that does...
I was getting ubuntu grub menu, and i was able to login to windows xp, windows server 2008 and ubuntu 10.10. Recently there was some problem with windows server 2008 and i had to reinstall it, once i did that i lost my grub menu. now i am getting plain windows menu with option of login into windows xp and windows 2008. So how can i restore the grub menu, so that i can login into all the three os from one point.

How to Make Ubuntu Linux Look Like Windows 7 - How-To Geek[/url]i decided i didnt like it so i followed their instructions and my stuff for the most part looks normal but the window borders still are windows 7 and the way stuff moves and maximizes and whatnot is glitchy. I even used the terminal command:rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity but still got the same results. I uninstalled it from the themes window, used the terminal, the method they say to use, reinstalled then tried again, and rebooted like 10 times with the same results. is there a way to get rid of it and go back to default theme or just restore the os completely cuz i only got it yesterday and theres nothing of importance or value on here.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get tired of the ugly default GNOME theme that rears its head when I'm doing something as superuser. I understand why it's desirable for these windows with elevated privileges to look different, but I'd like to choose a different theme.
So... what terminal command do I run to bring up the Appearance window? My thought is if I simply run it with "sudo", any changes made would affect the appearance of future elevated-privilege windows. Does that sound right, or am I out in left field?
My wife doesn't like gnome so I said I could make the desktop look like Windows 7. I've downloaded the theme pack but I can't find any instructions on how to apply it.

I upgraded to 10.10 from 10.04 today. All went well except Nautilus isn't displaying my theme properly. For Halloween/5th November I've used a simple customised theme with lots of orange and black including 'Human' icons for files & folders. After the upgrade, Nautilus is showing as per the attached screengrab. Although the border is right the icons aren't. No matter what pre-installed theme I use, nothing changes it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedUpgrade install to 11.04 using unity theme. I get random white screens/panels. first time was the whole login screen, second is the body of notepad but terminal works fine. I can enter content and it works, sometimes if I refresh it draws the body correctly, sometimes when I change focus it does not work. That happened with Firefox. I have everything updated and I have not changed anything. No private drivers to install. I'm guessing its just a setting somewhere.
