Ubuntu has suddenly decided that it want's the Ambiance theme to look like Windows 2000?!? the borders and icons of the theme are all OK however the controls have gone windows retro style?(im using 64bit if this makes a difference)

When i first turn it on, the main panel (where stays "Applications", "Places" and "System") was this color too! But then i just opened System -> Preferences -> Appearance and it self-fixed, without selecting any option, just opening Appearance window.
But the rest of this stuff (like right-click menu and folders) is still messed up!
I recently installed the Ambiance Evolution theme. In order to do so I had to remove the original Ambiance theme. I want the original back!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know, the question seems idiotic, but I accidentally changed all the 'theme fonts' to Sans 12 (a keyboard shortcut handy for switching between different display sizes) I don't know if I'm getting the font or just the size wrong but it doesn't look quite right anymore...
checking the 'correct' font name(s) and size(s) in the appearance settings under 'Fonts'.
i madly want the titlebar icons and menu colors they look cleaner to me i moded lucid's theme to have the apps icon for the menu button on the left like the clear looks theme

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from Lucid to Maverick... I did not notice this earlier but the icon theme (for example, in the nautilus toolbar) is not the same as ambience theme. Although I chose all the defaults for ambience theme by going to 'System' > 'Preferences' > 'Appearance'. I think the current icons I have are remnants from some previous installations. How do I remove them and get to the ambiance default theme?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen Ambiance is selected as the theme, the broadcast box in the "Me Menu" is black text on a near black background. Changing the "Input Boxes" color changed the color of that boxes background on every theme except Ambiance. The problem seems to be with having "Controls" set to Ambiance, because having any other theme customized with Ambiance controls selected causes this bug again.
I really don't want to use any of the other themes because I find them horrid in comparison. how to fix this bug, or if someone would be kind enough to post a proper bug report for this? Can anyone else recreate this error on theirs?
I have been trying for a week now to install ubuntu on my windows 2000. I have followed both the usb and cd install to the t with no prevail. it seams that it wont boot to disk or recognize and boot to usb. I have test this on both of my windows 2000 computers and i gotten the same problems.

Now I'm trying to access Windows shared folders from Linux operating systems.
Here's the deal. I created a shared folder on Windows 2000 Professional. I want to open it from Kubuntu 10.04.
I am not running Virtualbox. These are separate operating systems on separate computers.
I have tried dual booting Ubuntu 9.10 and W2K two times and this has resulted in a blue screen of death in the Windows partition. I have subsequently had to wipe Linux and restore Windows using fdisk/ mbr.
The MBR was set to hd0, but should this be installed on the Linux or Windows partition to prevent this?
I was going to try to install plop on a windows 2000 so that I could dual boot win and linux. I ran [URL] to install. In the command window it said that the program can't be run under a Dos box and only to continue in I was not running in windows. If I tell it to continue, windows gives me an error message that says it is trying to write directly to the hard disk. It asks me to abort or ignore. If I ignore, the program seems to run. Is this not the right way to install plop to the hard disk?

I even used the terminal command:rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity but still got the same results. I uninstalled it from the themes window, used the terminal, the method they say to use, reinstalled then tried again, and rebooted like 10 times with the same results. is there a way to get rid of it and go back to default theme or just restore the os completely cuz i only got it yesterday and theres nothing of importance or value on here.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get tired of the ugly default GNOME theme that rears its head when I'm doing something as superuser. I understand why it's desirable for these windows with elevated privileges to look different, but I'd like to choose a different theme.
So... what terminal command do I run to bring up the Appearance window? My thought is if I simply run it with "sudo", any changes made would affect the appearance of future elevated-privilege windows. Does that sound right, or am I out in left field?
My wife doesn't like gnome so I said I could make the desktop look like Windows 7. I've downloaded the theme pack but I can't find any instructions on how to apply it.

I upgraded to 10.10 from 10.04 today. All went well except Nautilus isn't displaying my theme properly. For Halloween/5th November I've used a simple customised theme with lots of orange and black including 'Human' icons for files & folders. After the upgrade, Nautilus is showing as per the attached screengrab. Although the border is right the icons aren't. No matter what pre-installed theme I use, nothing changes it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpgrade install to 11.04 using unity theme. I get random white screens/panels. first time was the whole login screen, second is the body of notepad but terminal works fine. I can enter content and it works, sometimes if I refresh it draws the body correctly, sometimes when I change focus it does not work. That happened with Firefox. I have everything updated and I have not changed anything. No private drivers to install. I'm guessing its just a setting somewhere.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using 10.04 for a few months here and installed the truglass 0.5 theme for quite some time. I've been putting up with one downfall of it, which is on certain windows the min/max/close buttons do not show. I can hover over where they should be to actually use them, but they are not visible on all windows. They always come up with firefox, unless I hit a pop-up and a new window comes up. Any nautilus window doesn't have them unless focus on that window is lost. Any ideas on how I can solve this? See attached screenshot.
