I needed a DC client which supports a particular adc protocol. Valknut and LinuxDC++ do not work but other users were saying that eiskalt dc works well with the particular hub. (These guys happen to use Ubuntu. There's a deb file available on some server.)However, I could not find the rpm file online but I did get the source code. While compiling, I get an error. I am quite new at building from source and I'm not able to understand the error...Here's the output.
Code:
18:34:18 builddir $ cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr ../
-- The C compiler identification is GNU
I am using eiskaltdc in Ubuntu 11.04. Its working very fine. But after I clicked on the "cross" button its gone. Normally in 10.10 there was a small icon in the bar for that eiskaltdc, but in the new Unity its not there. I checked the system monitor and it shows eiskaltdc. Any idea how to maximize it?When I logged in with Ubuntu Classic GNOME desktop I was able to find the minimized window. But in Unity its totally hidden .
I just installed Fedora 9 for the first time and have been unable to run updates nor am I able to use the add/remove programs feature. With the system updates the error I receive is within the /urs/share/packages area. I posted this http://amahi.pastebin.com/m131ea1d2 I also receive a different error when I run the Add/Remove programs feature and I receive a similar error. I also tried running these commands from root while logged in as root -- yum clean meatadata yum -y update but this had no change to the system. I also thought it may have been a RPMFusion issue so I looked at their FAQ and ran the command line to enable RPMFusion and it advises that this package is already installed. I am getting confused by this and not sure where to start so that I dont keep going over the same things with and getting the same results.
I have just loaded the FC9 onto a HP/Compaq D510 2.8Ghz/Intel graphic card. Everything when as expected during the install but on login I get the following set of errors. The follow Panels encounters a problem.
Just upgraded Fedora 12->13 using yum, on my way to Fedora 15.After upgrade to 13, I rebooted, and all is fine.Began upgrade from 13->14. I get the following errors from yum --releasever=14 distro-sync:
I've got an F10 install on an old IBM machine. I am trying to repartition the hard-drive, but all my fdisk commands in terminal give me errors. I made a DOS boot floppy on another machine so I could do it that way, but when I try to go from A: to C: the computer says I have no hard drive installed.
I've been trying to upgrade my installation for some time now and just can't quite get it right. I would upgrade from the DVD but the installer hangs when it says "Looking for installation images on CD device /dev/sr0". However, that's not really my question. I've resorted to the upgrade instructions as found at [URL]. If I don't use the '--skip-broken' option it complains about the following:
abrt-gui-0.0.11-1.fc12.x86_64 from fedora abrt-libs-1.0.6-1.fc12.x86_64 from updates samba-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates samba-client-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates samba-common-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates samba-winbind-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates samba-winbind-clients-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates
If I use the skip broken option, it then complains about: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/cryptsetup.mo from install of cryptsetup-luks-1.1.0-0.4.fc12.x86_64 conflicts with file from package cryptsetup-luks-1.0.6-7.fc11.i586 file /usr/share/locale/sv/LC_MESSAGES/cryptsetup.mo from install of cryptsetup-luks-1.1.0-0.4.fc12.x86_64 conflicts with file from package cryptsetup-luks-1.0.6-7.fc11.i586 file /usr/share/man/man8/cryptsetup.8.gz from install of cryptsetup-luks-1.1.0-0.4.fc12.x86_64 conflicts with file from package cryptsetup-luks-1.0.6-7.fc11.i586
I can't seem to remedy this problem. There were other conflicts but I just removed those packages. When I attempt to remove 'cryptsetup-luks' it then tells me it's going to remove something like 200 others which did not sound like a good idea.

I am running Valgrind on my program. It shows me two errors but mentions only addresses against them and not actual code even on a debug build.
The output is

I upgraded to 11.04, but the updgrade crashed, and now it has some errors with Unity crashing every time I open a terminal. Is there any way to re-install without having to reconfigure all my programs? I am running a dual-boot.
I am trying to upgrade RH9 to F10. I have downloaded dvd iso image i386. The SHA1 integrity check passes. The installer fails media check due to "errors". I did an independent verification of the DVD and zero errors found. Download was from Fedora's own torrent, so files should be verified anyway. If I bypass the media check I get the message : Running anaconda 11.4.1.62 the Fedora system installer - please wait.....
i have a c++ program and i tried to run it using gcc command and it gives header files error i got the header file now but dont know where to place those files?can any one got the idea??? we could not place header files in usr/include folder!
I've been using Linux ( Ubuntu from like 4 months ) the first time of my life and I just love Linux, but I just feel that I need to switch to Debian like its the best and the powerful distro. I've installed Debian pretty well, then when rebooting it. I cant find my Ubuntu distro on the grub loader, then when I enter to my Debian distro. I just have that black screen with the note (out of range), so I've went to Google but as u know I am still a rookie, so I could avoid this problem by using.
alt + ctrl + ( - ), so I went to connecting the internet maybe I could download that nvidia drivers so it may fix the problem, but the most shock is that the internet isn't working with me. I am pretty sure that I've entered the IPs correctly but I really don't know whats the main problem is, with Ubuntu its much easier and it really worked quickly but as I said I just feel something for Debian , something that attract me to it.
I'm having two distinct Grub boot errors with Ubuntu 9.10, stemming from two different setups. Anticipating that I'll be asked I ran BootInfoScript on both setups. This is the first setup, where I put a Flash ROM card in the Flash ROM port in front of the computer. This setup will not boot at all, and I get a message something like "Insert appropriate media and try again."
I am trying to get Ubuntu 8.10 upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10, I'm having all sorts of errors:
Code:
While scanning your repository information no mirror entry for the upgrade was found. This can happen if you run a internal mirror or if the mirror information is out of date.
Do you want to rewrite your 'sources.list' file anyway? If you choose 'Yes' here it will update all 'hardy' to 'lucid' entries. If you select 'No' the upgrade will cancel.
I went to update today and got these errors. Anyone else getting these?:
Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...tu1.2_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.46 80] Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...ntu1.2_all.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.46 80] Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...tu1.2_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.46 80]
On installing the Nvidia driver using Nvidia's 173 legacy installer I noticed a load of errors which are recorded in the log below. The driver appears to be working. Is this something that I should be concerned about?Quote:
ERROR: Unable to open '/usr/X11R6/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so' for reading (No such file or directory) ERROR: Unable to open
1 month ago we bought this computer. It has a GS7610 motherboard, AMd Athlon 3000+ with 2 gig ram, Seagate 500Gb HD and that's it.
I installed 9.10 64 bit, and all was flawless. Worked straight away, no troubles at all.
Then it was telling me the HS had bad sectors, so we took it back to the store today, and they said there was no problem. They also said that the vertical fuzzy lines were an OS problem, when we thought it was a monitor problem.
They also said that installing Windows would solve the problems.
Ok, so I went through the motions of trying to install a proper copy of Win7 pro I have here, and that went ok, albeit annoying
So, back to Ubuntu and did a full, clean re-install of 9.10 64 bit from the same CD I originally used that worked perfectly.
All installed, and I am hitting serious troubles.
There is a network connection, and I can ping anywhere with a small packet. Anything bigger, no go. I can bring up google, but no further. I can't bring up Ubuntu.com. I can't get updates, so even if they would correct the problem, it doesn't matter because I can't get them into the box.
It can download some updates, then finds one that it can't swallow and just locks up. I am also getting 'crash errors' that aren't a good thing.
It worked just fine, and now it's not.
I have searched and re-installed for the past 8 hours straight and still nothing.
I have this here box running 8.04 that just keeps ticking flawlessly, so it's not an update issue. I am here, so it's not a network or internet issue. Win7 got the internet just fine (sans sound).
I am almost willing to just accept Win7 without sound because at least it's something more than a non-updatable Ubuntu.
(And FWIW, you name anything that has been already said to fix the problem, I have already tried it at least twice already...)
Just re-installed for maybe the tenth time, and this time, for whatever reason, it is working just the way it was originally, and it even has the static on the screen going flat out, which I would really like to know how to solve...
Even got it dual booting with Win7 without effort.
The image disk boots OK and comes to the screen that gives the option to try or install. I opted for the "try Ubuntu" once, but got a long list of i/o errors. Tried the install option, and same thing. The install did get to an apparent Ubuntu background, but never any further prompts. Is the iso bad? I'm trying to install on a Dell Inspiron 7500. Currently has Win2000 loaded.
I decided to upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS from Ubuntu 9.10 earlier today. I started the upgrade process, after around 4 hours everything was starting to install. But then certain errors began to pop up. Soon after, the upgrade dialog exited because of too many errors (a screenshot is attached below with other documents).
Right now I have to back up by files and do a fresh reinstall.
Icons are all over the place, some have been deleted, and application menus are "scrambled". Nothing really seems to work except my web broswer, Opera, which isn't a Canonical Ubuntu application.
I have attached to screenshot of the upgrade dialog and the other documents the error dialog wanted me to attach.
Ubuntu 10.04 installed like a charm (I only need to find out why the headphones work but the main speakers do not), but at the end when the procedure ejected the CD, I immediately got:
I/O Error on Device sr0
repeated over and over for a couple dozen blocks.
I did a hard reset and the system is acting normally, but I'm wondering if other people have had the same problems?
Also, when running glxgears, is a score of 3000 normal for the Intel GMA HD video chipset?
