I downloaded the Komodo Edit 5 program for wysiwyg web edits, unpacked the tar ball and installed. However, I cannot find it using the Menu Updating tool.

Everything works out fine but there one thing I haven't been able to do,launch the application.Apparently the app won't show on the menu and I don't know any other way to launch it.
I do install Komodo Edit to my debian lenny: I do start run ./install.sh terminal show message: ./install.sh: line 48: ./INSTALLDIR/lib/python/bin/python: don't run binaries file.
What I do for fix it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of moving all my data from Windows to Ubuntu. So far everything has gone well and I am very impressed with Ubuntu and regret not doing this years ago.
One program is giving problems. It is a program called Sharescope and I pay a subscription for it and it runs in my Windows partition. I downloaded Wine and then downloaded Sharescope three times but when I click to install it comes up with the following message;

I contacted Sharescope and they said it was a permission issue in Ubuntu. Is there any way to install this program or will I have to work with it in Windows?
I got an HP mini 1120NR as a gift and it runs Linux software. I am not sure which version, but I think its Edubuntu and I do not know how to actually open and install a downloaded program file from the web. A specific example is Adobe flash player. It goes into a list and asks me to open it with Archvie Manager, but after that I am lost.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs a newbie, I'll probably be asking some absurd questions. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10. I downloaded Movie Organizer 2.7.7 and installed it with WINE. Now it will not run because it needs MDAC. Is there an MDAC program available which might help? Otherwise, how can I remove this program? It is not listed under installed programs in the Ubuntu Software Center, but is under the Applications as an "other" program.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed elog 2.9.2+2014.05.11git44800a72 on my Jessie system. When entering a new post just a simple plain text editing box is shown instead of the WYSIWYG editor, and no drag and drop area for attachments is shown. When I start the elog service with "systemctl start elog" I get this suspect message in the journal: "FCKedit NOT detected".
Indeed, I see that the elog installation creates a symlink which I guess is supposed to point to the fckeditor installation, which nevertheless is missing:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't put this in the forums for any of the separate programs, because im having the same problem in all of them, im thinking maybe its a problem elsewhere?I recently got a Canon DSLR. It can save in Raw format, I use this function. Canons Raw format is "Whatever.CR2"F spot viewer and all editor programs see then and 'preview' them with no problem. The images appear to have no problem until you load them into GIMP (with UFRAW) UFRAW standalone, RAWStudio etc.
They load, but only as a small vertical rectangle. Often very purple in colour.I thought maybe it was something wrong with just the way it looked, so I just loaded one, went save as (a jpeg) and then loaded it up, it loaded as a small picture of the same purple-haze bar.Have I done something wrong? I googled it, downloaded UFRaw, even Ubuntu studio, same problem before and after studio installation. All these programs claim to read raw images.Just as an example, In RawStudio:I load up the folder of raw images. I can see all the images clearly with no problems in the preview slider up top. I can scroll through them and see them all no problem. When I click on one, it loads in the editing box as some weird bar (always vertical in orientation) often faintly resembling part of the photo but with seriously acid trip colours. Eg massive purple hazes, green everything etc.
I use Deluge as a bittorrent client to download music.However, if--or rather when--other programs like rhythmbox edit the tags in the file (or change the file in anyway) deluge downloads the file againI thought that making the folder which Deluge downloads to a read-only folder would stop this from happening. I replaced "quiet splash" with "acpi=off" and everything works perfectlyI have installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a hard-drive partition, but I have yet to have it boot successfully. View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Rythmbox 0.13.1 on Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition.
My problem is that edits I make to tags sometimes don't save in Rythmbox. After I make the edit and click save it appears to have changed. (IE, the genre will change or the comment section will be different.) But if I reboot Rythmbox it has reverted to its previous state.
Not sure what's going on. Is this something I should fix or should I file a bug report and wait for the next version of Rythmbox?

Heres what Im trying to do:
-Qjackctl has a config file which is modified each time QjackCtl is shut down. This means that whatever preset is in use when QjackCtl closes is written into the QjackCtl config file as the DEFAULT PRESET, for the next time QjackCtl starts (or at least this is how I understand it).
-I want to edit a specific line in the QjackCtl.config file, which specifies the DEFAULT PRESET. Obviously its easy to do manually, but I want to do it using a shell script which runs automatically on StartUp so that QjackCtl starts every time with the same DEFAULT PRESET, NOT the last one used.
-Unfortunately Im not at my Linux system right now (which is KXStudio/Kubuntu), but I believe the QjackCtl.config line looks something like this: DEF_PRESET=alsa (where alsa is the name of the preset)
PRESET1=alsa
PRESET2=firewire
I want a shell script which changes the line DEF_PRESET=alsa to DEF_PRESET=alsa, even when it may currently exist as DEF_PRESET=firewire due to occasions when firewire was the active preset when Qjackctl was last closed. I notice that the application in KDE that enables the user to set which applications open automatically on StartUp also allows the user to select shell scripts.
Ive done some research, as a beginner, and Im led to believe I might need to use AWK and/or CHMOD. I could have a go at writing a shell script but Im always wary about experimenting with StartUp scripts/operations because obviously if I get it wrong and make my system unusable, then because its going to run first thing on each boot, Id have great difficulty disabling it.
I had been having problems with Thunderbird 3, so decided to install 2.0.0.24. I carefully cleaned out all the 3.0 files. So I downloaded it. Opened it with tar and can see that there is now a Thunderbird folder with all inside of it. But how do I make it run?
If I use "whereis" to locate the file to make it run, it says it is in /etc but i sure can't see it. There is a thunderbird file that seems to be the one in the thunderbird folder, but double clicking and mark "run" does nothing.
So I've been trying to find a program to edit grub ,so that I'll be able to add a picture behind the letters add new lines,and change the name of the menus. I know in Backtrack that I used a program,I don't really remember which one it was,I think KGrubEditor,but that is a KDE app,and I cannot find a place where I could download it anyway. For example, on Windows the webcam software allows me to edit the saturation, contrast, brightness, etc the levels of it while I'm giving off a live feed.So while I'm on webcam 0 can basically change the saturation level while I'm on skype and go from live in color to live in black and white?
