The last I knew, there still didn't exist a VNC Viewer program for Linux that has UltraVNC or TightVNC file transfer. Is this still the case? I've looked around and so far I haven't found a Linux client that supports either Tight or Ultra file transfer. For example, we are currently connecting to Windoze servers that run UltraVNC server. It would be nice if the Linux VNC client could support file transfer. The alternative is to run the VNC viewers in Wine but I'd rather use a native Linux one if there is such a thing.

I'm looking for a tool that will do a job similar to "tail -f". I have a file that is being modified at certain intervals and I want to open that file and see these modifications as they happen.
"tail -f" will only show new lines that are appended to the end of a file and what I need is something that will reflect any changes to the file content anywhere in the file at some specified intervals.
Having a bit of a issue with Debian Squeeze and transferring files to the Sony PSP..Hook up PSP to USB port and Debian mounts it..I go to drag a 125 meg mp4 to video folder..Copy windows takes about 10 seconds to transfer it..Exit USB mode and there is no video there. Go back into USB mode and look at video folder on the PSP memory stick and there is no video..It vanished. From another after copy progress closed I right clicked PSP and unmounted it..
It error-ed saying device was busy and could not unmount..Looking at light on PSP i see memory stick is still being written to..i wait for light to stop flashing..About a minute or so..Then am able to unmount it..Go to PSP video and theres the video ready to be watched. Debian isnt accurately showing the copy progress...Its showing complete when it isnt..I have to watch the light on PSP to know when it is truly finished.
I have setup ssh between a F15 box and a remote centOS box. I am using ssh -X, then nautilus/gnome-session to open a gui file browser/desktop environment of remote machine. But anything I want to copy from remote machine to local machine by gui, is showing 'path not found' error. CLI work just fine but is it possible to transfer files between remote and local machine by gui over ssh?
How to transfer a file from PC to Pen Drive? I'm having problem in transfering files from my laptop to my pen drive. tell me how to send a file from pc to pen drive.

I have connected two computers with each other both having fc installed. Now, when I tried to transfer a file from one computer to another using scp command, sometimes the file transfers very slowly and sometimes very fast. I wana know that why it sometimes transfers slowly. By slow I mean much slower than a file downloaded from a dsl.
Has anyone had any luck with OBEX file transfer on an f14 machine? I have a Samsung Hue SCH-R500 that works fine transferring files as long as I use a windows machine to do the work. With my f14 machine I can mount and list the folders but it says (Folder contents could not be displayed, Message did not receive a reply(timeout by message bus)). This is also the case with my f14 laptop.
this is all on LAN.Whenever I transfer files through the router A to a pc connected wirelessly, the internet hit the speed of molasses. What can I do to rememdy this? I was thinking about having my fedora box connect wirelessly to the internet, through router A, and then bridge via ethernet to router B and then have my pc always connected to router B, so when i transfer files, router A remains unaffected. Is this correct logic?
I am having a problem trying to transfer large file (~700MB) from one station in my home to another. I have 3 PCs hooked up through a router. 1 is wired to the router and the other two are wireless. One wireless is a laptop that has a built-in Atheros wireless card that was supported during the FC13 install. The other wireless has a plug-in wireless card made by Belkin (F7D1101). I had to use ndiswrapper to get it to work on FC13.(BTW all PCs are running FC13)
The one with the Belkin card is, I think, the problem. The one with the Atheros card will transfer files at a rate of about 8MB/sec to the one with the wired ethernet connection. The one with the Belkin card will not transfer at rates over 300KB/sec to either of the other two PCs. I have tried file transfers both encrypted and not and it makes no difference.
I have a ubuntu server 10.04 with LAMP installed. I also have ubuntu 10.10 on a laptop and can copy files to the server fine. To keep my website uptodate, I usually use Filezilla without any problems. I have just installed Fedora 14 on an old desktop and set up "my stall" ok. The problem is that I cannot copy any files from Ferdoa to the server due to:-
Response: 550 Permission denied. Error: Critical file transfer error I have tried to change the directory on the server "/var/www" using chmod -R 775* and chmod -R 777*, but it makes no difference, the file transfer still fails.
I can't make use of the Gnome log file viewer anymore. Seconds after I start it, it will gray out and proceed to steadily lay claim to all my available RAM. It doesn't matter which log I choose, or if I don't choose one at all. Same thing. I have 1GB RAM, and when I took the included screencap the log viewer had taken almost 80% of it. It was at 90% before I forced a shutdown of the process. Does anyone have the slightest idea what might be causing this?
Though I have to deal with a lot of new issues with respect to 11.04, I have a specific problem that I need to solve quickly. When I try to print to a pdf-file from a ps-file using Document Viewer, it appears a box that says:
I like the easy readability of fwlogwatch (as compared to the Log File Viewer). But fwlogwatch doesn't display port number or date when I run it in terminal.
Is there a log viewer that displays clean like fwlogwatch but displays all the information that Log File Viewer does?
I want to be able to view multiple pdfs with tabs like Adobe Reader does but I'd prefer to use a native app like okular. Is there anything in Fedora other than acroread that can open multiple pdfs at a time in tabs?
In okular when you try to load more than one pdf, the newer one pushes out the first one.
Is there a stand-alone SWF viewer I can use to view downloaded SWF files on Fedora please? I know there's a browser plugin, but it does not have any controls to pause or rewind the file - it just plays the SWF file from start to end. I've tried using Mplayer, but it does not appear to support playing SWF files.
I have FC14 64 Bit and Firefox on my machine. When I view a PDF for the first time Adobe opens it in my browser, but the second time it just shows a blank tab and the browser hangs for a bit.
Is there an alternative PDF viewer for Firefox or a way to fix this one?
After installing system and getting most things working in something rediculous like only 4 hours from disk to desktop. I find theres alot of strange things missing in Fedora 12.
Where's my system log viewer? Where's my software log viewer? Where's my ability to edit the menu?
Ok got most of that fixed but I still can't find the dang software log viewer.I can't find it under Gnome portion of the add/remove software.
I have a local network in which are two boxes. The first one has Fedora 8 installed and updated regularly and runs an Apache2 webserver. It also has vnc-server activated.
The second one had Fedora 10 installed along with a vnc viewer so that I could access the first box from this one. The first box has the VNC host name of 192.168.1.67:5.
I had had no problem with this VNC setup until I replaced Fedora 10 with Fedora 12. Initially I was happy to find Remote Desktop Viewer had been installed as part of default installation ( Application > Internet ). But it did not take too long before I got disappointed that this thing failed to work.
No sooner had I connected to the remote box than Fedora 12 kills X-server and logs out displaying a login screen. It seems as if I had killed X-server by issuing a keystroke of CTL-ALT-Backspace, which has apparently been disabled in Fedora 12.
Edit: By the way, I am still able to connect to the Fedora 8 box from a Windows Vista box via TightVnc viewer.
Document viewer 2.30.1 in fedora 13 does not print pdfs properly. Xpdf is working. I printed the same pdf with document viewer 2.28.2 in fedora 12 without any problems.
I want to connect to some coumputers which are behind campus proxy from outside. So i installed team-viewer software in one comp (from which i connect others in lan)and controlling it from outside. But this is pretty slow as I only want to access text files and execute few commands. Is there an alternate way to access those comps?
I need to create a program that has both a server and a client and can transmit PDF and text files between the two using UDP as the underlying carrier while behaving as if it is TCP. We have successfully created a UDP program that can simply transmit strings, but we are not really sure on how to transform this code to do files. We know that we need to use a buffer of some sort to transmit the file in pieces.
After upgrading to Fedora 12 (back when it came out) and then installing the Adobe Reader 9, I was unable to run it as it always came up with a little dialog saying "Internal Error". Same error from web browser when trying to load a PDF. Been ignoring it as there are other PDF viewers.... Got an update to the reader this morning and it did the same thing. Soooo, thought it was time to hunt down the problem if I could. Skipping all the 'what I looked for', I found in my user directory a symbolic link ".adobe > /dev/null" . After deleting this entry (rm .adobe) the problem went away. The reader recreated a new .adobe entry and all is well again.
