Feb 24, 2009
When i installed the dahdi-linux-2.1.0.4, i typed and it showed that: Quote:
[root@localhost dahdi-linux-2.1.0.4]# uname -a
Linux localhost.DAT 2.6.27.15-170.2.24.fc10.i686 #1 SMP Wed Feb 11 23:58:12 EST 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
trying to set up my wireless drivers on my laptop. But i cant install them without the "make" command, it says its not found. I have internet on my other computer, but no way to link them. Is there a rpm that i can download and install that will fix it?
*edit Nevermind I think I found it on YAST * I have been having trouble finding the "make command":If 'make' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this: cnf makeI need to install 'make', 'g++', and all other building tools for suse.
I'm runing FC11 and have compiled the vanilla kernel 2.6.33.4 to support Dazuko. It has broken my NFSD server in the process, and I can't figure out why. I get these errors on boot. FATAL: Module nfsd not found. FATAL: Error running install command for nfsd
I can't remove through terminal, and I can't remove it manually. I tried just removing everything through winetricks, then removing everything through synaptic, but whenever I install from software center, I'm back to wine 1.3.19.
I've been trying to install Gimmie. So I've gone through a few tutorials and something always seems to go wrong. Right now I run the "make install" command it give me a bunch of error messages. If there is any other bits of information you need to know just ask.
I've got an install of CentOS 5.3 in a VM which was installed without X or Gnome.I've added X (yum groupinstall 'X Window System') and Gnome (yum groupinstall 'GNOME Desktop Environment) and can now run startx no problem. However on boot I get a command line login rather than the graphical login screen one normally gets if Gnome is included at install time. What do I need to do to get the graphical login after boot?
I decided to switch from Ubuntu to Fedora Core 10 KDEdual boot installation worked perfectly... all smooth!untill i got to installing things....i wanted to install ndiswrapper, so i manually downloaded it on my second pc and transferred it trought a USB stick to the Fedora PC. When reading the 'installation manual' it clearly uses the "make" command a lot...problem is; bash error: "bash: make: command not found"So i google this and i get some solutions, all involving online repositories...so basically... i need internet to get the MAKE rpm, and i need the MAKE rpm to get the internet working... :')I tried searching online repositories but i haven't got a clue about what i need to download from there (to get the make command, or the "Development Tools") and how to install it on my fedora pc....i need help :P It would be much appreciated if someone could explain me how i could get these important packages up and running on my system with manual downloading and installing.I haven't got a clue how to do this manually... I've been on it for hours allready and I'm getting a bit fed up with it I can't understand why such an important package isn't standard included in the installation.
I just recently made a server using Fedora 10 and i was wondering if it is possible to set it up so that i don't need a GPU for fedora to boot properly. Since the GPU isn't being used i was hoping to save on a little bit more electricity.
I've just set up apache and can't make public_html dir to work. I followed this tutorial:http://fedoraphprails.blogspot.com/2...user-home.htmlAnd I'm still getting:Quote:orbiddenYou don't have permission to access /~gal/ on this server.Apache/2.2.13 (Fedora) Server at localhost Port 80
Ubuntu Server 8.04. I have 2 servers in the same rack, on the same subnet, using the same DNS servers and build with the same media. On one of them the following command fails Code: apt-get install squid On the other on the package was installed with out any problems. I have checked the /etc/apt/sources.list files and they are identical. Actually, it could not find mutt either.
I ran the following command:Code:sudo apt-get install sslIt is suppose to give me SSL support for Apache 2.2, but I couldn't find any package information about it atA search only returns ssl-cert package. So what is in the ssl package for Lucid 10.04 LTS? How do I know what package contains what in the future?
Is it possible to complete a drupal installation and change the configuration from the comman line or a script. Id like to be able to automate the process of installing and configuring drupal. I should say that this is quite a bit beyond me. Ive not long started learning scripting.
The GUI for network configuration of Fedora is marvellous such that the configuration is almost fool-proof. But how can I make the connection by hand in the command line mode? It goes okay except the very last step. When I disconnect the eth0 interface from the right-hand side of the desktop GUI, I tested how to bring it back by command line but I failed. When disconnected, the ifconfig still shows the eth0 interface, with just the ip address portion changed.
I tried "ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.xx" to give it an ip address but the connection is still down even if the ifconfig shows an ip address for the eth0 interface. Then I tried "/etc/init.d/network restart" and "ifup eth0" and also "route add defaut gw 192.168.1.1" but none of these could accomplish the same work as a single click on the GUI to connect. I am very curious about how to do it in the terminal.
I've tried to copy my files from Xamp httdocs in windows to /var/www/html, but I can't paste the file, what should I do so I can paste the files ? I have logged in as a root..
In first place i am sorry about my horrible English. I want to make a web site with a virtual host of apache visible by all the computers connected to my networking. I put this in the end of the file "/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf"("192.168.1.194" is the IP address of my computer. The default gateway IP address is "192.168.1.1"):
[Code]...
It works if i go to "http://192.168.1.194/" with the browser of the computer with apache inside, but on the others PC of my networking this method don't work!
Is there any way to install a Ubuntu server and access the server remotely via a Ubuntu desktop environment instead of a SSH command line?
I will be installing a Ubuntu server in an office where the office manager will need to be able to do simple things like add/remove users, access filesystems, etc. She can handle these tasks in Ubuntu desktop/GUI, but it is impractical for her to have to learn how to use the CLI terminal to do this stuff.
Will I have to install desktop Ubuntu on the server to do this, or can I install Ubuntu server version and setup another computer Ubuntu desktop to remotely login graphically?
I installed ubuntu 10.10 server from an usb stick. I do not have access to a wired connection and do not have a CD drive, so now I need to configure the wireless connection.for that I need to have wireless-tools which if i am not wrong are not installed by default so the question is: how can I install the wireless-tools package from an usb using only command line? note: I got internet access from another ubuntu-desktop PC so i can download any package needed, etc.
Im running samba on fedora core 7, im abit new to the server part of fedora, i set up samba and it runs well, only issue i have now is resolving permissions( User Rights)i have a shared folder which has alot of files and many subfolders in it, the files and folders in this shared foldr were copied from our old Novell Server through samba, i need to assign permissions to this folder where by a defined usergroup can have full read and write permissions to all the files and folders and sub-folders in the shared folder. i tried doing it in GUI but i realized there were over 1000 subfolders.is there a command i can run in the Terminal to help me assign the permissions?
