View 1 RepliesI will be setting up a web server at my house. It will be a simple page for my family to keep in touch and maybe some other stuff. Here is the problem: I believe my ISP blocks port 80. So when setting up the firewall and it list the normal port 80 am I able to edit to say 8080? I have a ddns already setup for my router and I am waiting for an email back from DynDNS.com on setting up a new domain to forward to my already setup hostname. I just need to get everything redirected to another port beside 80.

I have installed XAMPP on my system and started it just fine, but for some reason when I type "http://localhost/myDirectory/index.php" into the address bar of a browser, I get a 404 error. I followed the instructions hereand after creating test.php, I was still not able to view it. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI installed Nagios on my Ubuntu 10.04 server using apt-get and when I accessed the web console, everything was OK. I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed WordPress 3.x on my localhost/Apache server, but I can neither install plugins nor update anything.This happens with both the stable WP3.0 version and the 3.1 beta. When I try to search the Plugin Directory from the WP dashboard, I get this message: An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.When I run an update, I get a page asking for the login credentials for the ftp user ("To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host."). Since I'm part of the 'ftp' group on the system, I enter my system login information, click Proceed -- and get a blank page that does nothing.
I've gone to YaST, and I see that the system ftp user has a 6-character password (which may or may not be mine). I'm afraid to change it and risk screwing up other ftp-related functions. I'm running openSUSE 11.3, and am obsessive about updating. I will note that I have an old 2WIRE router that often requires me (including Zypper repos) to enter IP addresses instead of DNS-based URLs to successfully download stuff. Not sure if this is related, but just in case...
I'm trying to connect to url, but the browser is unable to connect to the localhost; my OS is F11, if someone have encounter this problem? i was able to connect to the localhost when i had F6 OS.?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an installation of Fedora 10 that has been running wonderfully for months, ever since I bombed my 9 installation trying to install Apache Tomcat (I really just wanted Apache, live and learn). I finally decided to brave the attempt to install Apache 2.2 again because I have a little more instruction to go by. Apparently not enough to deal with this snag though, at least not the way I want.
Install went fine, but I couldn't start the service. Following the error trail I found that it was binding IPv6 to port 80 and wouldn't allow any other ip or localhost to use it. I disabled IPv6, don't need it, I'll learn about it later.
I am trying to get my own email server set up, and so far its been going pretty smooth, The only thing that is not working right now is receiving emails. I can send email just fine, and when they are sent they are even sent from the proper addresses, but when I try to send an email to my domain, it does not go through.
I have the port forwards set up on my router to send all traffic on port 25 over to my mail server, I can telnet to the smtp server from the localhost just fine, but when I try to telnet from another computer on my network it gives me this message
Quote:
So I ran a netstat -an on my mail server to see what ip address smtp is listening on and I get this result
Quote:
Now most guides I find for this problem just say to un comment the line in the master.cf that says "smtp inet n - - - - smtpd", the problem is that line is already uncommented and I am still not able to telnet to port 25 from any machine on my network.
Here is my main.cf, tell me if there is anything that I can do.

I'm running Fedora 12 on x86_64. I've installed squirrelmail, along with dovecot on my office server, and cannot access it through http://localhost/webmail. I have followed all the configuration steps I could find (including http://www.server-world.info/en/note...12&p=httpd&f=7).
I know that everything else is working (I can send and receive mail, access IMAP mailboxes, webserver is working), browsing to
http://localhost/webmail
just gives me
"Problem loading page"
in Firefox. Sometimes, however the message is "Unable to connect."
I will add that I already tried installing Squirrelmail on another (i686) machine and had exactly the same problem.
/var/log/httpd/error_log says:
File does not exist: /var/www/html/squirrelmail
This makes it seem like aliasing is not working somehow.
For backup and pre-functionality purposes, I need to simulate a VirtualHost in my Fedora (14) machine. I found some interesting links to carry out that process but with an IP fix.So, how can I simulate a VH through a localhost with a dynamic IP?
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast time I rebooted, sendmail & dovecot started from init and everything worked. I needed to reboot this weekend [new videocard] & yum had given me a new kernel etc.Now.2.6.34.7-56.fc13.i686 running Thunderbird - with 2 accounts chuck@otherserver.com and chuck@localhost.
The "otherserver" account works fine. Localhost won't pull in the mail.
/var/log/maillog says
dovecot: pop3-login: Login: user=<chuck>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, secured

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to edit my http configuration (menu System -> Administration -> Server Settings -> HTTP) and it seems to be impossible. My Server Name comes up empty and I want to change the default Webmaster email address root@localhost to something else, but I can't change anything. HTTP Server configuration does not exit and my changes are not saved.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just done a brand new install of fed12 and did all the yum updates. Apache seems to start ok and I always liked the http config tool but it won't run on Fedora 12. I downloaded and installed system-config-httpd.noarch 5:1.4.6-1.fc12 and it all went fine but when I try to start it I get the usual box asking for my root password, I type it in and press enter, the box disappears and then....nothing. If I run system-config-httpd in a terminal I get the same box asking for root passowrd but when I enter it I get a long scroll of text which ends with:
line 4: 2137 Aborted (core dumped) /usr/bin/python /usr/share/system-config-httpd/ApacheConf.py
I don't know what causes this. Is there any way to get the http config tool working?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 web server in my office : http and https. You will find attached the httpd.conf and ssl.conf. I can acces the https server from home, but not the http one.
What I did :
configure the router to forward port 80 to my fedora 11 machine
open port 80 with system-config-network
created a virtualhost
The same exact steps have been done for port 443
I can access both server locally but only the https server remotelly.
Here are my iptables :
Code:
you can try to acces my servers using [url]
I made httpd to listen to port 8080, and done all the port forwarding/opening stuf, and it works. so is it a bug ?
Finally found my error seams like turning off UseCanonicalName to off did the trick
I really think it's a bug now. It was definitively working last week, I just added content to the main host of my website, and now i can't acces it from port 80. If someone think it's not a bug or find someting missing/wrong in my conf file.
I can not use nfs from F10 client to F12 server. nfs mount on F10 to F12 times out anf nfs4 mount gives "mount.nfs4: mounting localhost:/home failed, reason given by server: No such file or directory" I have tried to close firewall and set selinux to permissive mode on both client and server with same result. Samba works fine. On server [root@flokipal ~]# mount -t nfs4 localhost:/home /media/tonlist mount.nfs4: mounting localhost:/home failed, reason given by server: No such file or directory
but
[root@flokipal ~]# mount -t nfs localhost:/home /media/tonlist
[root@flokipal ~]#
works
I am trying to setup my webserver and I am trying to make a website to run under suexec but somehow I cannot start my apache it directly fails and SELinux is giving me errors and don't really know what to do with it, it is giving me some command to type but not sure if this will make my server less secure. The SELinux error is as follow:
Code:
Summary:
SELinux prevented httpd reading and writing access to http files.
Detailed Description:
SELinux prevented httpd reading and writing access to http files. Ordinarily httpd is allowed full access to all files labeled with http file context. This machine has a tightened security policy with the httpd_unified turned off, this requires explicit labeling of all files. If a file is a cgi script it needs to be labeled with httpd_TYPE_script_exec_t in order to be executed. If it is read-only content, it needs to be labeled httpd_TYPE_content_t, it is writable content. it needs to be labeled httpd_TYPE_script_rw_t or httpd_TYPE_script_ra_t. You can use the chcon command to change these contexts. Please refer to the man page "man httpd_selinux" or FAQ [URL] "TYPE" refers to one of "sys", "user" or "staff" or potentially other script types.
Allowing Access:
Changing the "httpd_unified" boolean to true will allow this access: "setsebool
-P httpd_unified=1"
Fix Command:
setsebool -P httpd_unified=1
I will write down how I did setup my server so maybe you can see a mistake I did. First I changed my Apache httpd.conf I added the following to it:
Code:
NameVirtualHost 192.168.1.2:80
<VirtualHost 192.168.1.2:80>
ServerName localhost
DocumentRoot /var/www/html
DirectoryIndex index.html index.html index.shtml index.php
</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost 192.168.1.2:80>
SuexecUserGroup ulyaoth ulyaoth
ServerAdmin webmaster@ulyaoth.org
ServerName test.ulyaoth.org
DocumentRoot /var/www/ulyaoth/www/html
ErrorLog /var/www/ulyaoth/logs/error_log
CustomLog /var/www/ulyaoth/logs/access_log common
DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.php
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /var/www/ulyaoth/www/cgi-bin/
<Directory /var/www/ulyaoth/www/cgi-bin/>
AllowOverride none
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
Options +execCGI
AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>
Then I created the username "ulyaoth" with the group "ulyaoth" as I specified with my suexec, then I created all the directories as specified in my httpd.conf and "chown ulyaoth:ulyaoth (dirname)" them to the right group and username.
New Ampache install, http://localhost/ampache comes up as "Not Found"Here is the fix:
Code:
sudo ln -s /etc/ampache/ampache.conf /etc/apache2/conf.d/
Then restart apache with the following command:

I have a problem with showing localhost (my website is on it) on the internet, so that everyone can see it. On Windows all you have to do is:open httpd.conf change ServerName 127.0.0.1 for your own IP and it works.On Linux there is is empty httpd.conf, and configuration file apache2.conf doesn't have any address to change.It looks like, that I have to enter my IP somewhere or some of my settings are wrong:first computer (vista) second computer (ubuntu 9.10), cable net providerwhat I did:-activated DMZ, in my router settings and added Host IP Address: 192.168.1.100 -active dhcp (no changes)Windows side:in TCP/IPv4 instead of automatic ip and dns I have entered my own:

I have setup a Linux Centos with apache server on it in a home network. Everything works fine. When I access the webserver I put in the address bar the IP address of the server which is 192.168.0.150 and when hit enter, it prompts the page where I have to put login information. The login information is set to: username: admin@localhost.local password: *************
It takes long time for authentication go through and load the page eventhough I am accessing the site in a same home local area network with fast ethernet connection. How can I change the localhost.local to something else like maybe [URL] instead and if I have to change settings in other files as well?
