Fedora Servers :: Accessing Apache Home From External IP ?

Oct 2, 2010

I've set up Apache on my Fedora 12 machine and have got it working on my internal IP (localhost/192.168.0.15) however, when I try to access it through my external IP I am taken to my router login page.

What do I need to do to route my external IP to my internal static IP of 192.168.0.15?

Server :: Accessing Apache/HTTPD In Home Network?

Feb 7, 2010

I am trying to setup Fedira 12 Linux Apache in my home network. I am able to access the hosted website from inside my home network without any problem. I am facing the problem to access it from outside. At the moment i have connected the Apache directly to DSL modem for testing purpose. I was reading "The ISP may have blocked the HTTP port 80. So check it by connecting the Apache directly to DSL modem." The temporary network connections for testing purpose are as follows..

DSL modem (SIEMENS Speed Stream 4200)-->Fedora 12/Linux Apache Server

I am even unable to PING the real ip (IP for DSL modem).(Firefox gave me error message "Connection Timed out) I have tried to ping it from the internet.I can PING the DSL from Apache without any problem.

1. Why i am even unable to PING the real IP of DSL modem at my home.?

2. Is it possible to run/setup Apache by using this type of DSL modem?

3. DSL modem has real IP. DSL MODEM assigns private IP (192.168.x.x) to Apache. So when a http request form the internet came to DSL modem on port 80, will it forward to Apache automatically.? or i have to made any changes.(I can not see anything in DSL modem to change/modify), OR do I have to use another DSL MODEM/Equipment (router)? This setup is just temporary. The actual design is as follows

DSL MODEM(Speed Stream 4200)-->Fedora 12 Linux ROUTER--->Internal network with DNS/Apache Server

Ubuntu Servers :: Accessing Domain Name On Home?

Apr 18, 2010

I am a complete newbie at web servers, so I installed Ubuntu Server and have a LAMP set up. I have gotten dynamic DNS to link to my domain, and that seems to be working. My domain is 6py7.com. If I try to access my domain from within my home network it links me to my router's main page (192.168.2.1). I have my server set up with a static ip at 192.168.2.100 and have port forwarding set up.

Is there something I missed with the setup of this? I can only access my domain if I use a network outside of my home network, but if I am within my home network the domain name links to the router.

Ubuntu Servers :: Apache Server Not Accesible From External Computers

Dec 8, 2010

A week ago I purchased an VPS. The first few days I was having trouble to set up an outgoing connection on the VPS. Eventually it turned out to be some misconfiguration of the server where the VPS is hosted on.Since then I have installed the apache server, but I'm still not able to access the apache server from an external computer. I already have contacted the provider, but they haven't replied yet. To speed things up I was hoping someone could check my configuration to be sure nothing is wrong with it.To be sure I posted all configuration and information that I think would be important. Please contact me if you need more information.

Ubuntu Servers :: Setup A Home Web For Personal Site Using 11.04 And Apache

Jul 23, 2011

I am trying to set up a home web server for my personal site using Ubuntu 11.04 and Apache. I have set up a user called www and given it FTP access to its home area (/home/www) using vsftpd. I then edited /etc/apache2/sites-available/default and set the DocumentRoot directive to /home/www. When I made a test index.html file in that directory it worked fine. Then I FTP'd to the server (as www) from another PC and uploaded the site files. Now when I try to access the site I get an error 403 (forbidden).Obviously I'm doing something wrong here but I'm not sure what. What should I do to fix this.

Ubuntu Servers :: Setting Apache DocRoot To Folder In Home Directory

Jan 9, 2010

Vanilla install of Karmic (64 bit) - would like to change the Apache doc root to point to /home/sam/www as it's my web development machine. (Default install is working fine)
Created copy of 'default' to 'mylocal' in '/etc/apache2/sites-available'

Code:
<VirtualHost *:80>

<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
<Directory /home/sam/www/>
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews

Order allow,deny
allow from all

The permissions on the folder in my home dir:
Code:

Ubuntu Servers :: Apache User_dir Mod And Home Directories - Automatically Set When User Account Created?

May 28, 2010

I want to automaticly set the group ownership of user home directories to a group that the user is not part of. This is so that Apache can be part of this group and can access user public HTML directory, but other users are not able to access in any way the files in the users home directory. What I have seen that works manually is adding the user and then changing the group for the home directory. But I want to automatically set this when the user account is created. WHat I see happening is that when /etc/skel is copied, it automatically sets the group and ownership of everything to the users default group and ownership. I've seen some suggestions on setting permissions, but these don't seem to work because it seems that users are able to cd into a directory and not list it, but if they know the file name they can access the file.

Fedora Servers :: Accessing Index File By Hostname?

Sep 6, 2011

I have my home network up and running. I can access my index file by the ip I gave to eth0 - 192.168.0.2

I put this same ip into etc/hosts:
192.168.0.2 localhost localhost.localdomain
One space separates the hostnames from the ip in /etc/hosts.
The hostname command returns: localhost.localdomain

I have /etc/resolv.conf configured the right way, so I can use my isp's DNS servers. I know this because yum works and I can ping anywhere by url. The next step is to learn to access the index file by url locally on my own network.

Networking :: Accessing External SSH From A PC With Only Port 80 Access

Dec 23, 2010

I work for a company who has a really closed proxy configuration, and I think that only the port 80 is opened, but with a lot of blocked sites.

I guess that for other cases, like bank sites and others, they opened the 443 port too. But other ports are all closed.

I set up a linux server at home, and I need to access it with SSH. However, I can't access my server directly by its IP number,

I don't know why, but probably it's because some rule in the company's firewall or proxy, right? What I did to trick this was create an account on NO-IP.org, which provides me with a DNS to my host. In this moment, my "network" is something like this:

When I try to connect (by my work PC) with "telnet xxxxx.no-ip.org 80", or with Putty, I get a blank screen, no errors, no nothing.

But when I try to do this on another PC, on another network without proxies, I'm successfull. So I really think that is my company proxy thats blocking this way, am I correct?

So I think that the solution for my problem is to create a tunnel, to transport my SSH connection over an HTTP, through the Port 80.

But is there a way to do this?

It would be something like this:

Is that correct?

If so, how could I do this?

I'm trying for a week now, with programs like http-tunnel, proxy-tunnel, and others. But nothing until now.

So, any ideias how could I could communicate my SSH client at work over a HTTP (port 80) connection, over NO-IP, my modem, my server, HTTP to SSH, and finally my SSH server?

Fedora Servers :: CentOS 5.2 - Apache And New PHP

Feb 7, 2009

I've installed a server (CentOS5.2) - and I need a new(er) PHP, so, I get me one. This is what I did:
- unzipped the bundle in the root's home
- of course, I entered the folder
- entered "./configure"
- entered "make" - the compile didn't come back with errors
- entered "make test" - there was a _possible_ fail...
- entered "make install"

I noticed there's nothing in the /libs, where I'd expect a module (lib5php5.so) to exist. there is one, but it belongs to the older PHP. It's located in ets/httpd/modules (a link BTW - but I think that's normal). At the console I type:
"which php" and get a path to PHP /usr/local/bin/php
"php --version" and get 5.2.8 and some extra info
in the server I entered "<?php phpinfo(); .>" in a PHP page, as I call that page, I get ... 5.1.6 as version.

Of course, I suspect Apache to have the OLD PHP in its config, (the old lib5php.so) and that I may have to overwrite the old one with the newly compiled one, if I had it. I ran a locate on the system, but no other lib5php.so files exist. Where did I loose track?
